  • In order to examine the characteristics of brassiere products for the 1924 generation brands on the market and grasp problems, we selected three 'comparative brassieres', each one from among the 1924 underwear brands with the highest recognition and sales profit, and then designed a 'sample brassiere' pattern(75A) with a similar shape to the comparative brassieres. We set up the "New Cup Grading Rule" with a view of reflecting the wearing effect that was varied according to cup sizes, graded the sizes of 75AA and 75B with this method, and made the sample brassieres in three sizes. We conducted the wearing evaluation and body measurements of 9 subjects after analyzing the patterns and characteristics of the sample brassieres and three comparative brassieres. As a result of the wearing evaluation, the sample and comparative brassiere 2, the dimensions and shapes were appropriate for the 1924 generation consumers and expressed an overall natural silhouette, showed satisfactory results in the entire evaluation questions. On the other hand, the comparative brassiere 1 and 3 that tended toward making a big change in the physical characteristics got unsatisfactory evaluations in the dimensions of the cups, clothing pressure, and bust silhouette. As a result of observing the variation in body dimensions by body measurements when nude and when wearing each brassiere and then summing it up with the score of the wearing evaluation, it was proven that too much change in body shape can create a negative image by upsetting the balance of the whole silhouette. Therefore, it is desirable to develop brassiere products with proper dimensions and clothing pressure that can make a physical change that harmonizes the overall bust silhouette and the position and shape of the breasts.

  • In this study, girdle wearing was surveyed on the female college students in Seoul and Seoul satellite cities. Data were collected by convenient sampling method, and sample size was 252 subjects in 18 to 29 years. Questionnaire was composed of 5 parts: experience of girdle wearing, the preference of girdle type, degree of dissatisfaction/discomfort in wearing girdle, wear sensation evaluation of girdle fabrics, including demographic and anthropometric data. The results of surveys are as follows: Experience of girdle wearing (season of wearing girdle, main intention of wearing girdle, frequency of wearing, body part to want to be shaped by girdle) was examined. Especially body parts to be shaped by girdle were in order of abdomen > hip > thigh > waist-hip sideline. Therefore, it would be considered that female college students want to care about the shape of abdomen or hip. The long leg panty type was most preferred among the girdle types. The reason of preference of long leg panty type was cost > easiness of putting on-and-off > shaping many body parts at once. For dissatisfaction/discomfort in wearing the commercial girdles, it showed in order of poor ventilation at sweating > static electricity with outer garment > difficult breathing due to pressure > deformation after laundering.

  • Purpose: To investigate the proper care system of sample-wearing cosmetic contact lens (SWCCL). Methods: Research on the actual condition about SWCCL was examined in fifty cosmetic contact lens wearer in their 10s and 20s by the questionnaire. Also, the extents of the contamination of gram-negative bacteria and fungi were measured in SWCCL after wearing for 2, 4 and 6 weeks, and it was investigated whether the proper care system could prevented the contamination. Results: As the result of the questionnaire, people purchased the cosmetic contact lens after trying SWCCL with a mean of 4.5. The contamination of gram-negative bacteria and fungi were significantly increased in SWCCL-wearing period-dependent manner. In both Group 1 (rubbing SWCCL and exchanging preserving solution every wearing of SWCCL) and Group 2 (only exchanging preserving solution every wearing of SWCCL without rubbing SWCCL), the contamination of gram-negative bacteria and fungi were prevented perfectly. In the case of Groups having every-week care, the proliferation of gram-negative bacteria and fungi were somewhat suppressed, and rubbing was helpful of decreasing the contamination. The biweekly care had scarcely any effect for preventing the contamination. Conclusions: By exchanging the preserving solution every wearing of SWCCL, the contamination of gram-negative bacteria and fungi could be suppressed perfectly.

  • Objectives: Nail salon owners in New York City (NYC) are required to provide their workers with gloves and it is their responsibility to maintain healthy, safe working spaces for their employees. The purpose of this study was to determine the frequency with which nail salon workers wear protective gloves. Methods: A Freedom of Information Law request was submitted to New York Department of State's Division of Licensing Services for a full list of nail salons in Manhattan, NYC. A sample population of 800 nail salons was identified and a simple random sample (without replacement) of 30% (n=240) was selected using a random number generator. Researchers visited each nail salon from October to December of 2015, posing as a potential customer to determine if nail salon workers were wearing gloves. Results: Among the 169 salons in which one or more workers was observed providng services, a total of 562 workers were observed. For 149 salons, in which one or more worker was observed providing services, none of the workers were wearing gloves. In contrast, in six of the salons observed, in which one or more workers was providing services, all of the workers (1 in 2 sites, 2 in 1 site, 3 in 2 sites, and 4 in 1 site) were wearing gloves. Almost three-quarters of the total number of workers observed (n=415, 73.8%) were not wearing gloves. Conclusions: The findings of this study indicate that, despite recent media attention and legislation, the majority of nail salon workers we observed were not wearing protective gloves when providing services.

  • The purposes of the study were to explore differences in preference for clothing images according to wearing situations and clothing product involvement. A questionnaire was developed by the researcher and was collected by 101 men and 100 women aged between 40 and 59. Data were analyzed by factor analysis, repeated measure ANOVA, t-test adjusted by Bonferroni, paired sample t-test, and independent sample t-test. The results of the study showed that clothing images were classified into five factors including hard cold image, modern urban image, bold unique image, and heavy luxurious image. There were significant differences in preference among clothing images according to wearing situations and clothing product involvement. While modern urbane image was most preferred, hard cold image was least preferred in both formal and informal wearing situations, and for either high or low involvement clothing products. Also, there were significant differences in clothing image preference according to wearing situations and product involvement. In formal situations, stronger preference for modern urban image and heavy luxurious image showed than in informal situations, and bold unique image and heavy luxurious image were more preferred for high involvement clothing product than for low involvement clothing product. In addition, there were significant differences in preferences for clothing images between groups according to gender and age. In both formal and informal situations, men showed stronger preferences than women for hard cold image, but women for bold unique image. For either high or low involvement clothing products, men preferred hard cold image, modern urban image and heavy luxurious image more than women, but women preferred bold unique image more than men. Lastly, for high involvement clothing product, subjects aged fifties showed stronger preferences than forties for modern urban image and heavy luxurious image, but for low involvement clothing product, modern urban image was more preferred.

  • In this first double-blind-placebo-controlled investigation of the Aeon Patch, electrocardiographic data were acquired from 50 well-hydrated volunteers [21 females and 29 males, age: 19-79, weight: 117-334 lbs, height: 5'-6',3"], under 3 different conditions for a total duration of 15 min (5 min/condition). Condition1: Control (C) - while wearing no Patch, Condition 2: Placebo (P) or Active (A) - after wearing either the Placebo or the Aeon Patch for 20 min, and Condition 3: Active (A) or Placebo (P) - after wearing either the Aeon or the Placebo Patch for 20 min. There was a washout period of 15 min between Conditions 2 and 3. All involved in the investigation were blind to the (A) and (P) Patches as they looked exactly the same and were assigned in a random fashion. The hypothesis to be tested was: Wearing the Aeon Patch for 20 min reduces stress. Data were first quality assured and those subjects who showed a parasympathetic response after wearing the Patch within 20 min were identified as early responders. Thirty subjects (60%) achieved a relaxed state after wearing the Aeon Patch as early as 20 min. Statistical analysis (one-sample inference) was used to compare the spectral features of the responders. The normalized LF/HF decreased significantly ($24%{\pm}9%$ after 20 min) in condition (A) compared to condition (P) with a p-value < 0.047 (n = 30) in responders. Therefore, the hypothesis that wearing the Aeon Patch for 20 min reduces stress was accepted as true.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the performance and properties of sports wear that have the excellent wearing sensation and are in harmony with the functions of human bodies. With four kind(sample A, B, C, D) of materials which have different water vapor transmission, the physiological responses of human bodies and the changes of subjective sensations were studied through the actual aerobic sports program at $20^{\circ}C$, 60%R.H. The forehead temperature had the minimal variation among the local skin temperatures. The fabrics of low water vapor transmission demonstrated high breast temperature. There are significant differences among materials depending on the humidity in clothes(especially back and breast), which was about 6 % for breast and about 14 % for back. The order of loss in body weight was in the opposite direction to that of water vapor transmission for each material.

  • The knitting method of the sleeves for improving movement adaptability were studied in this paper. The purpose of this study is proposing a knitting method that is suitable for the bodies of women in their 20's and can enhance wearing satisfaction. To see the effect of the bind-off length at the axilla, a movement adaptability test was undertaken for 4 samples that have bind-off at bodices. In addition to that, the analysis of their sliding distance with respect to the human motions were executed. The results of this study were listed below. Its result was that the samples with small bind-off lengths represent better wearing satisfaction than the samples which have large bind-off lengths. The comparison of the sliding distances at the hem, waist and sleeves with respect to the tester's motions also shows that the sample having small bind-off makes better result than the sample with large bind-off. It was observed that the optimal length of bind-off was 2cm for the improvement of the sleeve functionality.
