SARAPAN-A Simulated-Annealing-Based Tool to Generate Random Patterned-Channel-Age in CANDU Fuel Management Analyses

  • In any reactor physics analysis, the instantaneous power distribution in the core can be calculated when the actual bundle-wise burnup distribution is known. Considering the fact that CANDU (Canada Deuterium Uranium) utilizes on-power refueling to compensate for the reduction of reactivity due to fuel burnup, in the CANDU fuel management analysis, snapshots of power and burnup distributions can be obtained by simulating and tracking the reactor operation over an extended period using various tools such as the $^*SIMULATE$ module of the Reactor Fueling Simulation Program (RFSP) code. However, for some studies, such as an evaluation of a conceptual design of a next-generation CANDU reactor, the preferred approach to obtain a snapshot of the power distribution in the core is based on the patterned-channel-age model implemented in the $^*INSTANTAN$ module of the RFSP code. The objective of this approach is to obtain a representative snapshot of core conditions quickly. At present, such patterns could be generated by using a program called RANDIS, which is implemented within the $^*INSTANTAN$ module. In this work, we present an alternative approach to derive the patterned-channel-age model where a simulated-annealing-based algorithm is used to find such patterns, which produce reasonable power distributions.

A SE Approach to Predict the Peak Cladding Temperature using Artificial Neural Network

  • Traditionally nuclear thermal hydraulic and nuclear safety has relied on numerical simulations to predict the system response of a nuclear power plant either under normal operation or accident condition. However, this approach may sometimes be rather time consuming particularly for design and optimization problems. To expedite the decision-making process data-driven models can be used to deduce the statistical relationships between inputs and outputs rather than solving physics-based models. Compared to the traditional approach, data driven models can provide a fast and cost-effective framework to predict the behavior of highly complex and non-linear systems where otherwise great computational efforts would be required. The objective of this work is to develop an AI algorithm to predict the peak fuel cladding temperature as a metric for the successful implementation of FLEX strategies under extended station black out. To achieve this, the model requires to be conditioned using pre-existing database created using the thermal-hydraulic analysis code, MARS-KS. In the development stage, the model hyper-parameters are tuned and optimized using the talos tool.

Learning Model for Avoiding Drowsy Driving with MoveNet and Dense Neural Network

  • In Modern days, Self-driving for modern people is an absolute necessity for transportation and many other reasons. Additionally, after the outbreak of COVID-19, driving by oneself is preferred over other means of transportation for the prevention of infection. However, due to the constant exposure to stressful situations and chronic fatigue one experiences from the work or the traffic to and from it, modern drivers often drive under drowsiness which can lead to serious accidents and fatality. To address this problem, we propose a drowsy driving prevention learning model which detects a driver's state of drowsiness. Furthermore, a method to sound a warning message after drowsiness detection is also presented. This is to use MoveNet to quickly and accurately extract the keypoints of the body of the driver and Dense Neural Network(DNN) to train on real-time driving behaviors, which then immediately warns if an abnormal drowsy posture is detected. With this method, we expect reduction in traffic accident and enhancement in overall traffic safety.

졸업학년 간호대학생의 환자안전 지식, 태도 및 간호전문직관이 환자안전 수행자신감에 미치는 효과 (Effects of Nursing Students' Knowledge, Attitude and Nursing Professionalism on Confidence in Performance of Patient Safety)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 임상실습 경험이 있는 간호대학생의 환자안전 지식, 태도 및 간호전문직관이 환자안전 수행 자신감에 미치는 효과를 파악하여 간호대학생이 환자안전 역량을 증진시키기 위한 교육과정 개발에 기초자료를 제공하고자 시행된 서술적 조사연구이다. 연구대상은 대구 경북지역에 소재한 3개 대학 간호학과 4학년에 재학 중인 286명이며, 자료분석은 SPSS 22.0 Program을 이용하였다. 환자안전 수행자신감은 여자가 남자보다, 연령이 많을수록, 학업성적 높을수록 높게 나타났으며, 환자안전 수행자신감은 환자안전 지식(r=.25, p=.000), 환자안전 태도(r=.39, p=.000), 간호전문직관(r=.33, p=.000)과 통계적으로 유의한 정적 상관관계를 나타내었다. 다중회귀분석을 실시한 결과는 성별(${\beta}=.12$, p=.019), 연령(${\beta}=-.17$, p=.003), 환자안전 교육을 받은 경험(${\beta}=-.73$, p=.000), 부주의 정도(${\beta}=.09$, p=.024), 잊어버리는 정도(${\beta}=-.02$, p=.024), 환자안전 태도(${\beta}=.14$, p=.010), 간호전문직관(${\beta}=.18$, p=.001)이 통계적으로 유의한 영향관계를 보였으며, 모형의 설명력은 49.2%였다(F=24.04, p=.000). 환자안전 수행자신감에 가장 많은 영향을 미치는 요인은 환자안전 교육을 받은 경험으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 학부과정 초기부터 적극적인 환자안전 개념에 대한 노출로 학년이 올라갈수록 그 개념에 대해 확장해 나갈 수 있는 다양한 교육 방법을 모색할 필요가 있다. 특히 환자안전과 관련된 시나리오 개발을 통한 학생들이 적극적이고 능동적인으로 참여할 수 있는 시뮬레이션 교육방법이나 동영상을 이용한 정보공유 등 다양한 교육전략이 필요할 것으로 사료된다.

옥외 작업에서의 온열환경 평가 및 온열지수 비교 (Evaluation of Heat Stress and Comparison of Heat Stress Indices in Outdoor Work)

  • Objectives: The objective of this study was to assess heat stress, compare heat stress indices, and evaluate the usefulness of wet bulb globe temperature (WBGT) among outdoor workers exposed to heat during the summer season. Methods: WBGT, dry temperature, and heat index were measured using WBGT measurers (QUESTemp 32 model and QUESTemp 34 model, QUEST, WI, USA) by industrial hygienists from August 27 to September 16, 2015. Heat stress indices were measured at the workplaces of a shipbuilder in Ulsan and a construction site in Daegu. The dry temperature observed by the Automated Synoptic Observing System (ASOS) of the Korea Meteorological Administration was also compared. Results: Dry temperature measured by WBGT is different from that by ASOS. The temperature obtained from ASOS was less than $33^{\circ}C$, above which point a heat wave is forecast by the Korea Meteorological Administration. A heat index above $32.8^{\circ}C$ as a moderate risk was not observed during measurement. WBGT was consistently higher than $22^{\circ}C$, above which the risk of heat-related illness is increased in unacclimated workers involved in work with a high metabolic rate. WBGT was sometimes higher than $28^{\circ}C$, above which the risk of heat-related illness is increased in acclimated workers involved in work with a moderate metabolic rate in September. Conclusion: According to the measurement of heat stress indices, WBGT was more sensitive than heat index and temperature. Thus, general measures to prevent heat-related diseases should be implemented in workplaces during the summer season according to WBGT.

컴퓨터비전을 활용한 건설현장 중장비의 단독작업 자동 인식 모델 개발 (Solitary Work Detection of Heavy Equipment Using Computer Vision)

  • 건설현장에서는 수많은 중장비와 작업자가 다양한 작업을 동시다발적으로 수행하기 때문에 복잡하고 위험한 상황이 자주 발생한다. 복잡한 현장에서 중장비가 단독으로 작업할 경우 운전자의 시야제한, 판단오류 등으로 인해 안전사고가 발생할 수 있으며, 이에 따라 중장비는 신호수와의 상호작용을 통해 주변 상황에 대한 정보를 수집하면서 작업을 수행해야 한다. 중장비를 자동으로 모니터링하고 위험상황을 탐지하기 위해 많은 컴퓨터비전 기술들이 개발되었지만, 기존의 방법들은 중장비 단독작업 인식에 필요한 중장비와 신호수 간 상호작용을 고려하지 않았다는 한계가 있다. 이러한 한계를 보완하기 위해 본 연구는 중장비-신호수 간의 상호작용을 고려한 컴퓨터비전 기반 중장비의 단독작업 자동 인식 모델을 제안함을 목표로 한다. 개발된 모델을 검증하기 위해 실제 건설현장으로부터 영상 데이터를 수집하여 실험을 수행하였다. 그 결과, 학습된 모델은 중장비와 사람을 83.4 %의 정확도로 인식하였고, 일반 작업자와 신호수를 84.2 %의 정확도로 분류하였으며, 중장비-신호수 간 상호작용 또한 95.1 %의 높은 정확도로 분석하였다. 본 연구결과는 건설현장에서 위험한 상황을 초래할 수 있는 중장비의 단독작업을 사전에 탐지하여 안전사고를 예방할 수 있다.

A Conceptual Framework to Study the Effectiveness of Interface Management in Construction Projects

  • The management of mega construction projects which incorporate a large number of stakeholders, technologies, data, work culture etc., is cumbersome. The experts in the construction arena advocate that interface management serves as a precise tool in resolving these conflict points due to the intricate nature of the construction projects. Interface management is a current trending management practice in the construction industry which is also a beneficiary to mega/fast track projects in enhancing the project performance. The main objective of this study is to validate a model for assessing the relationships among interface management, IT applications, project performance & project benefits. The mediating effect of interface management in relationship between project performance & interfacial factors was also investigated. The research model was validated using PLS-SEM (Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modelling) approach. Data were collected from clients, contractors, consultants in large scale projects through questionnaire survey and smart-PLS software was used to analyse the conceptual model. The research model comprises eleven hypothesis and the significance of these hypothesis were tested using T- statistics values. The research implies that people/participants factor is greatly influenced by interface management with the path coefficient of 0.608 and also enhancement of project's schedule performance due to the interface management is strongly appealing (Path coefficient = 0.711). The results also reveal IT application is significantly associated with interface management practice (Path coefficient =0.723) and also the effect of IT application on project performance (schedule, cost, quality & safety) is successfully mediated through interface management practice. The practical application of this validated model was done through case study. The case study aims at measuring the impact of interface management on interfacial factors and role of interface management in improving the project performance in the construction organisations.

재해연보 자료를 이용한 지역 단위 수해폐기물 발생량 예측 모형 개발: 울산광역시 사례 연구 (Development of Regional Flood Debris Estimation Model Utilizing Data of Disaster Annual Report: Case Study on Ulsan City)

  • Since climate change increases the risk of extreme rainfall events, concerns on flood management have also increased. In order to rapidly recover from flood damages and prevent secondary damages, fast collection and treatment of flood debris are necessary. Therefore, a quick and precise estimation of flood debris generation is a crucial procedure in disaster management. Despite the importance of debris estimation, methodologies have not been well established. Given the intrinsic heterogeneity of flood debris from local conditions, a regional-scale model can increase the accuracy of the estimation. The objectives of this study are 1) to identify significant damage variables to predict the flood debris generation, 2) to ascertain the difference in the coefficients, and 3) to evaluate the accuracy of the debris estimation model. The scope of this work is flood events in Ulsan city region during 2008-2016. According to the correlation test and multicollinearity test, the number of damaged buildings, area of damaged cropland, and length of damaged roads were derived as significant parameters. Key parameters seems to be strongly dependent on regional conditions and not only selected parameters but also coefficients in this study were different from those in previous studies. The debris estimation in this study has better accuracy than previous models in nationwide scale. It can be said that the development of a regional-scale flood debris estimation model will enhance the accuracy of the prediction.

  • 고품질 소프트웨어의 요구 증가로 국제표준, 산업 기능안전(IEC 61508), 자동차(ISO 26262), 무기체계 내장형 소프트웨어 지침 등 품질 인증 요구가 많다. 스타트 업, 벤처, 중소 업체들은 비용 및 인력 측면에서 체계적인 품질 획득이 어려움이 있다. 그들 업체에게 자동 테스트 케이스 생성은 비용, 시간, 인력 문제에도 소프트웨어 품질을 향상할 수 있는 해법으로 제시 될 수 있다. 이를 위해, 시스템 및 소프트웨어 설계 검증이 가능한 "의사 결정표" 기반 테스트 케이스 자동화를 제안한다. 이는 OMG의 표준 기법인 메타모델과 모델 변환 기법을 사용해 각각 의사 결정표(Model)와 테스트 케이스(Text)의 메타모델 설계 및 모델변환을 정의한다. 즉 의사 결정표 입력으로 테스트 케이스 발생 자동화이다. 이를 통해 MC/DC 커버리지등도 쉽게 적용 가능하다.

Occupational Lifting Tasks and Retinal Detachment in Non-Myopics and Myopics: Extended Analysis of a Case-Control Study

  • Objectives: Lifting heavy weights involves the Valsalva manoeuvre, which leads to intraocular pressure spikes. We used data from a case-control study to further investigate the hypothesis that occupational lifting is a risk factor for retinal detachment. Methods: The study population included 48 cases (patients operated for retinal detachment) and 84 controls (outpatients attending an eye clinic). The odds ratios (OR) of idiopathic retinal detachment were estimated with a logistic regression model (adjusted for age, sex and body mass index). Three indexes were used to examine exposure to lifting; 1) maximum load lifted, 2) average weekly lifting, 3) lifelong cumulative lifting. Results: For all indexes, the most exposed subjects showed an increased risk of retinal detachment compared with the unexposed (index 1: OR 3.57, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.21-10.48; index 2: OR 3.24, 95% CI 1.32-7.97; index 3: OR 2.23, 95% CI 1.27-8.74) and dose-response relationships were apparent. Conclusion: These results reinforce the hypothesis that heavy occupational lifting may be a relevant risk factor for retinal detachment.
