Objectives Syndrome differentiation and treatment (辨證論治) was one of the core theories in Korean medicine and syndrome differentiation (辨證) constitutes a branch of disease diagnosis in Korean medicine. Yoon Gil-Young, one of the modern outstanding scholar of basic medical science in Korean medicine, wrote on basic theories of Korean medicine such as physiology, pathology, formula science, etc. Hereby we will analyze and discuss his works to understand his recognition of historical changes in the syndrome differentiation. Methods We conducted researches into the two works of Yoon Gil-Young's, which are "The Clinical Formula Science of Eastern Medicine (東醫臨床方劑學)" and "The theory of Four-Constitution Medicine (四象體質醫學論)". From Yoon's academic standpoint which connects the basic medical science with the clinical medicine, we analyzed his opinion about the system in the Theory of 'Syndrome Differentiation'. Results According to Yoon's research work on the Theory of 'Syndrome Differentiation', the system of syndrome differentiation, which had its deep root in the theory of Yin and Yang (陰陽) & the theory of abbreviation of the five circuit phases (五運) and the six atomspheric influences (六氣) of the "Huangdi's Internal Classic (黃帝內經)". Conclusions Yoon Gil-Young's theory of differentiation of syndromes and treatment is widespread so much that he studied on the learning field of Traditional Korean Mediciine and ingenious as well. He explain on the main principles of differentiation of syndromes based on "Huang Di Nei Jing" and the system of differentiation of syndromes is composed of Traditional Korean Medical Physiology.

We study on the HYUN-GOG's main principles of Differentiation of Syndromes. HYUN-GOG insisted upon the main principles of Differentiation of Syndromes based on the individual-physiology. The system of Differentiation of Syndromes was composed of the Korean oriental medicine's physiological system. The main principles of Differentiation of Syndromes was mutually explained for the standpoint of eight principal syndromes(differentiation of pathological conditions in accordance with the eight principal syndromes) and the system of Syndrome-complexes based on the physiological system. BON-HER(original deficiency-syndrome), BON-HAN(original cold excess-syndrome), BON-YEOL(original heat excess-syndrome), the three representative syndrome-complexes is previously carried out the details of Differentiation of Syndromes. And the oriental medicine history was rearranged centering around the theory of Differentiation of Syndromes by HYUN-GOG. The theory of Syndrome-complexes was closely connected with prescription by the presentation of the basic organical prescription for the three representative syndrome-complexes.

The aim of this review is to investigate studies of Korean medical treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome published in Korea and the evidence of it's effects in order to suggest a better research method in the future. Four Korean web databases were searched by using key words such as 'carpal', and checked relevant Korean journals. The papers were classified into the field of study, publish date, diagnostic methods, evaluation methods and analysed the study tendency. There are 9 case studies, 4 controlled studies. The paper was published almost every year more than once. Acupucture, pharmacopuncture, acupotomy, warm needle acupuncture, taping, etc. were used as treatment tools. The two most commonly used diagnostic method for carpal tunnel syndrome are Phalen's test and Tinel's sign. The two most commonly used evaluation method are VAS(Visual Analog Scale) and subjective symptoms. Korean medical treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome was effective in all studies. Korean medical treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome was effective in all studies. So it is possible that Korean medical treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome is useful as therapeutic medicine, but there are not sufficient evidence based papers, so there should be further studies.

Objective: To evaluate the abnormality of protein S in patients with recurrent spontaneous abortion due to antiphospholipid syndrome. Material and Method: Antigen and activity of protein S were analyzed by enzyme immunoassay and clotting method, respectively. Results: Of 18 patients with antiphospholipid syndrome, 4 patients were found to have no abnormality of protein S. There were 14 cases of protein S abnormality. Among them, there were 8 cases of type 1, 1 case of type 2, and 5 cases of type 3 protein S deficiency. Conclusion: So in the workup of patients with recurrent spontaneous abortion due to antiphospholipid syndrome, the evaluation for protein S is required.

Let p be an odd prime number. We introduce simple and useful decoding algorithm for orthogonal Latin square codes of order p. Let H be the parity check matrix of orthogonal Latin square code. For any x ${\in}$ GF(p)$^{n}$, we call xH$^{T}$ the syndrome of x. This method is based on the syndrome decoding for linear codes. In L$_{p}$, we need to find the first and the second coordinates of codeword in order to correct the errored received vector.

In Sjogren syndrome, abruptly decreased salivation and delayed lag time reveal that many acini cells are destructed and Lymphocytes infiltration is supposed as the main cause that makes dysfunction of salivation. In this case report, the biopsy of minor salivary glands is very useful diagnostic method of Sjogren's syndrome with sialometry,sialography, salivary gland scan.

The symptoms of farmer's syndrome that occurred to Korean farmers are due to the specific characteristics of Korean agriculture, and the basic reasons are poverty and less-privileged rural cultural life originated from social and political conditions. Then the purposes of this study are to investigate farmer's syndrome of farmers and to get substantial data to make a strategy that could prevent diseases. The results are as follows: 1. The most common symptom was lumbago(83.0%) among the 7 kinds of symptoms of farmer's syndrome. And it was more common among women who deliver babies and also work house chores and 10 farms than men(p<0.05). 2. The numbers of symptoms of farmer's syndrome increased as age increases and, 71.4% of those aged 70-79 complained some of the symptoms. 3. The accident rate due to agricultural machine was significantly higher in men than women(p<0.05). By frequency contusion was the most common trauma, fall, fracture were the nexts, and the age group with highest accident rate(40%) was those aged 20-29. 4. To see the significantly correlated factors between faemer's syndrome and sociodemo graphic variables, the more the numbers of family members were, the more lumbago and the less heartburn occurred. And the less gross income was the more frequent nocturnal urinary frequency occurred, and the wider the farming land was the more frequent noctural urinary frequency occurred. 5. As result of correlation coefficient between the numbers of illnesses and sociodemographic variables, the larger the family was and the larger the farming land was the more illnesses the subjects had, and those without spouses had more illnesses.

Haddad 증후군은 Congenital central hypoventilation syndrome과 Hirschsprung's disease가 함께 나타나는 질환으로 수면 시 호흡 저하를 특징으로 하나, 증상이 심할 경우 깨어있을 때에도 호흡 저하가 나타날 수 있다. 따라서 전신 마취 시, 중추성 억제 약물 사용에 주의를 기울여야 하고, 적절한 환기가 이루어지도록 하는 것이 중요하다. 또한 술 후에도 호흡 저하가 일어나지 않도록 주의를 기울여야 한다.

Purpose : The purpose of this study is understanding of Rett Syndrome. Rett Syndrome is a common developmental - neurologic disorder that has been reported almost exclusively in female. Recently mutations in the gene encoding X-linked methyl-CpG binding protein 2 (MECP2) have been identified as the cause of Rett syndrome. Consistent with the diagnostic criteria, hand skills, verbal or non - verbal communication skills and common motor skills were lost during regression. Regression most commonly occurred between 12 and 18 months of age. Methods : This is a literature study with books, articles, web site for Rett syndrome international association. Results : There is a continuing need to further elucidate the pre- and post - regression features of Rett syndrome. Rett syndrome need to physical therapy, musical therapy, special education and medical interventions. Conclusion : There has not been therapeutic method to the root of Rett syndrome but our goal is relaxation of symptom and physical therapist's study of Rett syndrome.

Ramsay Hunt syndrome is a disorder characterized by herpetic eruptions on the auricle, facial paralysis, and vestibulocochlear dysfunction, and is attributed to varicella zoster virus infection in the geniculate ganglion. Ramsay Hunt syndrome accounts for about 10% cases of facial palsy. We report a 46-year-old healthy man developed left side skin vesicles on the face with severe pain. We thought of the trigeminal herpes zoster. He was treated with intravenous acyclovir, and stellate ganglion block daily. Four days later, brain magnetic resonance imaging revealed small areas of enhancement in the seventh cranial nerve and eighth cranial nerve, not in the fifth cranial nerve. Eight days later, the left facial palsy was come. We confirmed him as Ramsay Hunt syndrome. We started steroid therapy immediately. He recovered completely a month later. The patient was improved through the early antiviral therapy, steroid medication and stellate ganglion block.
