This paper describes the problems of the existing two multi-layer routing policies(policy 1 and policy 2) and suggests new multi-layer routing policy(policy 3) which is established the packet LSP by inquiry on packet LSP lambda routing tables for GMPLS based optical If Network. All policies of multi-layer routing schemes first try to allocate a newly requested electrical path to an existing optical path that directly connects the source and destination nodes. U such a path is not available, all policies employ different procedures. Policy 1 tries to find available existing optical paths with two or more hops that connect the source and destination nodes and policy 2 tries to establish a new one-hop optical path between source and destination nodes. Policy 3 tries to establish a new one-hop optical path by inquiry on information of the packet LSP lambda routing tables between source and destination nodes. The performances of the three multi-routing policies are evaluated by computer simulation. Simulation results show that policy 3 is the excellent of routing time and traffic acceptance capabilities compare to existing two polices if p is large, where p is the number of packet-switching-capable ports p.
In multi-hop wireless networks like Wireless Mesh Networks (WMN) and Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN), nodes often rely on batteries as their power source. In such cases, energy efficient routing is critical. Many schemes have been proposed to find the most energy efficient path, but most of them do not achieve optimality on network lifetime. Once found, the energy efficient path is constantly used such that the energy of the nodes on the path is depleted quickly. As an alternative, the approaches that dynamically change the path at run time have also been proposed. These approaches, however, involve high overhead of establishing multiple paths. In this paper, we first find an optimal multi-path routing using LP. Then we apply an approximation algorithm to derive a near-optimal solution for single-path routing. We compare the performance of the proposed scheme with several other existing algorithms through simulation.

The mobility of nodes are different in wireless ad hoc networks. Routes have to be refreshed frequently due to the mobility of the nodes acting as routers. Path consists of a few highly mobile nodes should be avoided to forward packets, because even only one highly mobile node may result in the break of path. We develop a mobility aware method to evaluate path stability for multipath routing in wireless Ad Hoc networks. Specifically, we extend it to a well-studied multipath routing protocol known as ad hoc on-demand multipath distance vector (AOMDV). The resulting protocol is referred to as path stability evaluation (PSE). Performance comparison of AOMDV with PSE are studied through ns-2. Simulation shows that PSE has optimistic results in performance metrics such as packet delivery, end-to-end delay, routing overhead and throughput.

As field of application of AMI, AMR uses the power line as the primary means of communication. PLC has a big merit without installation of the new network for communication in a field using the power line which is the existing equipment. However, there is a serious obstacle in commercialization for the instability by noise and communication environment. Therefore, the technical method for maintaining the communication state which overcome such demerit and was stabilized is required essentially. PLC routing technology is applied with the alternative plan now. The routing technology currently managed by field includes many problems by applying the algorithm of an elementary level. PLC routing path search problem can be modeled with the problem of searching for optimal solution as similar to such as optimal routing problem and TSP(Travelling salesman problem). In this paper, in order to search for a PLC routing path efficiently and to choose the optimal path, GA(Genetic Algorithm) was applied. Although PLC was similar in optimal solution search as compared with typical GA, it also has a difference point by the characteristic of communication, and presented the new methodology over this. Moreover, the validity of application technology was verified by showing the experimental result to which GA is applied and analyzing as compared with the existing algorithm.

Hierarchical routing in Wireless Sensor Network lowers the amount of a memory used and energy consumption so that the network lifetime longer. But, When Node Failure is occurred, Hierarchical routing do not look for another route. This is the problem of Hierarchical routing. To solve the problem, we would study other hierarchical routings. There are typically hierarchical routing protocols which can be used in WSN, such as the hierarchical routing of Zigbee and HiLow protocol which is submitted as draft to IETF 6LoWPAN WG. Also, there is SCRO algorithm which be able to assign short-cut routing path. This paper explains how to solve the Node Failure in each Zigbee hierarchical routing and HiLow protocol. And we suggest how to solve the Node Failure in SCRO protocol. SCRO protocol is able to assign new routing path rapidly when Node Failure is occurred. Because the strong of SCRO protocol is to assign Short-cut routing path.

In wireless sensor networks(WSNs), it is crucial to maintain network connectivity as long as possible since nodes are battery-powered and unchange-able. We propose a new routing protocol called Energy Aware Source Routing(EASR) which can be efficient in respect of network lifetime and long-term connectivity. Our protocol is multipath source routing, only one path will be selected at the same time and each path has probability to be selected like as Energy Aware Routing(EAR) protocol. The route discovery procedure of EASR protocol is reformed from the route discovery procedure of Split Multipath Routing(SMR) protocol. However, there is the difference between SMR and EASR. In EASR, we define an overhearing ratio in order to reduce energy waste due to overhearing effect among each selected path. Thus, we can establish energy efficient multiple paths by making use of overhearing ratio. The simulation results are also demonstrated that our scheme increases in network lifetimes, and achieves reasonable packet latency time.
Geographic wireless sensor networks use position information for Greedy routing. Greedy routing works well in dense network where as in sparse network it may fail and require the use of recovery algorithms. Recovery algorithms help the packet to get out of the communication void. However, these algorithms are generally costlier for resource constrained position based wireless sensor type networks. In the present work, we propose a Void Avoidance Algorithm (VAA); a novel idea based on virtual distance upgrading that allows wireless sensor nodes to remove all stuck nodes by transforming the routing graph and forward packet using greedy routing only without recovery algorithm. In VAA, the stuck node upgrades distance unless it finds next hop node which is closer to the destination than itself. VAA guarantees the packet delivery if there is a topologically valid path exists. NS-2 is used to evaluate the performance and correctness of VAA and compared the performance with GPSR. Simulation results show that our proposed algorithm achieves higher delivery ratio, lower energy consumption and efficient path.
Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs) has the characteristics such as dynamic network topology, constrained power capacity, constrained wireless bandwidth and quality, etc. For MANETs AODV (Ad-Hoc On-Demand Distance Vector) routing protocol has been proposed. However AODV routing protocol has some inefficiency related to re-routing path establishment corresponding to node's failure. In this paper, we propose a Self-Healing Routing Technique for MANETs that uses the one-hop nodes from the failed node to set up the routing path efficiently. We also include simulation results to show the performance of our method.

There are various research challenges in vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) that need to be focused until an extensive deployment of it becomes conceivable. Design and development of a scalable routing algorithm for VANETs is one of the critical issue due to frequent path disruptions caused by the vehicle's mobility. This study aims to provide a novel road-aware routing protocol for vehicular networks named as Two-level hierarchical Hybrid Road-Aware (THERA) routing for vehicular ad hoc networks. The proposed protocol is designed explicitly for inter-vehicle communication. In THERA, roads are distributed into non-overlapping road segments to reduce the routing overhead. Unlike other protocols, discovery process does not flood the network with packet broadcasts. Instead, THERA uses the concept of Gateway Vehicles (GV) for the discovery process. In addition, a route between source and destination is flexible to changing topology, as THERA only requires road segment ID and destination ID for the communication. Furthermore, Road-Aware routing reduces the traffic congestion, bypasses the single point of failure, and facilitates the network management. Finally yet importantly, this paper also proposes a probabilistical model to estimate a path duration for each road segment using the highway mobility model. The flexibility of the proposed protocol is evaluated by performing extensive simulations in NS3. We have used SUMO simulator to generate real time vehicular traffic on the roads of Gangnam, South Korea. Comparative analysis of the results confirm that routing overhead for maintaining the network topology is smaller than few previously proposed routing algorithms.
We study the routing problem in all-wireless networks based on cooperative transmissions. We model the minimum-energy cooperative path (MECP) problem and prove that this problem is NP-complete. We hence design an approximation algorithm called cooperative shortest path (CSP) algorithm that uses Dijkstra's algorithm as the basic building block and utilizes cooperative transmissions in the relaxation procedure. Compared with traditional non-cooperative shortest path algorithms, the CSP algorithm can achieve a higher energy saving and better balanced energy consumption among network nodes, especially when the network is in large scale. The nice features lead to a unique, scalable routing scheme that changes the high network density from the curse of congestion to the blessing of cooperative transmissions.
