  • The mechanization of navigation equation is depending on the designer according to the orientation vector relating the body frame to a chosen to inertial and navigation frames for its purposes. This paper considers the appropriate Earth Fixed frame for short range vehicle and develops a mechanization and algorithm for Strapdown Inertial Navigation System(SDINS). This mechanization consists of two parts : translational mechanization and rotational mechanization{attitude determination). The accuracy, availability and performance of this SDINS mechanization are verified on the simulation and the numerical method for integration attitude propagation is compared with a well-known method in a precession motion.

  • The stabilized Gauge-Uzawa method (SGUM), which is a second order projection type algorithm to solve the time-dependent Navier-Stokes equations, has been newly constructed in 2013 Pyo's paper. The accuracy of SGUM has been proved only for time discrete scheme in the same paper, but it is crucial to study for fully discrete scheme, because the numerical errors depend on discretizations for both space and time, and because discrete spaces between velocity and pressure can not be chosen arbitrary. In this paper, we find out properties of the fully discrete SGUM and estimate its errors and stability to solve the evolution Navier-Stokes equations. The main difficulty in this estimation arises from losing some cancellation laws due to failing divergence free condition of the discrete velocity function. This result will be extended to Boussinesq equations in the continuous research (part II) and is essential in the study of part II.

  • In this paper is studied the effect of considering the theory of Timoshenko in the vibration of AFG beams that support ground masses. As it is known, Timoshenko theory takes into account the shear deformation and the rotational inertia, provides more accurate results in the general study of beams and is mandatory in the case of high frequencies or non-slender beams. The Rayleigh-Ritz Method is employed to obtain approximated solutions of the problem. The accuracy of the procedure is verified through results available in the literature that can be represented by the model under study. The incidence of the Timoshenko theory is analyzed for different cases of beam slenderness, variation of its cross section and compositions of its constituent material, as well as different amounts and positions of the attached masses.

  • Numerical solutions to the advection equations used for long-range transport air pollution models are calculated using three numerical methods; Antidiffusion correction method(Smolarkiewicz, 1983), Positive definite advecton scheme obtained by nonlinear renormalization of the advective fluxes(Bott, 1989), and Positive definite pseudospectral method(Bartnicki, 1989). Accuracy, numerical diffusion and computational time requirement are compared for two-dimensional transport calculations in a uniform rotational flow field. The solutions from three methods are positive definite. Bartnicki(1989)'s method is most conservative but requires approximately 10 times as much computational time as Smolarkiewicz(1983)'s method of which numerical diffusion is the largest. All three methods are more conservative for a cone shape initial condition than for a rectangular block initial condition with a steep gradient.

  • This paper describes a variant of the extended Gaussian image based registration algorithm for point clouds with surface color information. The method correlates the distributions of surface normals for rotational alignment and grid occupancy for translational alignment with hue filters applied during the construction of surface normal histograms and occupancy grids. In this method, the size of the point cloud is reduced with a hue-based down sampling that is independent of the point sample density or local geometry. Experimental results show that use of the hue filters increases the registration speed and improves the registration accuracy. Coarse rigid transformations determined in this step enable fine alignment with dense, unfiltered point clouds or using Iterative Common Point (ICP) alignment techniques.

  • As the run out error and misalignment of ball screw connected directly to guide table largely affect the motion accuracy of guideway, floating coupling that releases the table from screw nut except feed and rotational direction is needed todecrease its influences. The purpose of this study is to propose a practical model floating coupling of ball serew for high precision feeding system. The straightness, dynanic characteristics and micro step response of hydrostatic guideway, mounted with three types of coupling fixed type, leaf spring type and hydrostatic type, are tested and compared. From the resuts of experiments, it is proved that a hydrostatic type floating coupling is superior to other couplings and is available to high precision feeding system with ball screw.

  • Generalized hydrodynamic (GH) theory for multi-species gas and the computational models are developed for the numerical simulation of hypersonic rarefied gas flow on the basis of Eu's GH theory. The rotational non-equilibrium effect of diatomic molecules is taken into account by introducing excess normal stress associated with the bulk viscosity. The numerical model for the diatomic GH theory is developed and tested. Moreover, with the experience of developing the dia-tomic GH computational model, the GH theory is extended to a multi-species gas including 5 species; O$_2$, N$_2$, NO, O, N. The multi-species GH model includes diffusion relation due to the molecular collision and thermal phenomena. Two kinds of GH models are developed for an axisymmetric flow solver. By compar-ing the computed results of diatomic and multi-species GH theories with those of the Navier-Stokes equations and the DSMC results, the accuracy and physical consistency of the GH computational models are examined.

  • The authors apply the transfer influence coefficient method to the 3. dimensional vibration analysis of beam with multi - joints and formulate a general algorithm to analyse the longitudinal, flexural and torsional coupled forced vibration. In this paper, a structure which is mainly found in the robot arms, cranes and so on, has some crooked parts, subsystems and joints, but has no closed loop in this system. It is modeled as the beam of a distributed mass system with massless translational, rotational and torsional springs in each node, and joint elements of release or roll at node which the displacement vector is discontinuous. The superiority of the present method to the transfer matrix method in the computation accuracy was confirmed from the numerical computation results. Moreover, we confirmed that boundary and intermediate conditions could be controlled by varying the values of the spring constants.

  • With an increase in the size and power rate of ship, the stern tube bearing has become subject to severer operation conditions. Particularly it is expected to be exposed to extremely so severe lubrication conditions during low rotational operation that there is strong demand for clarifying the oil film characteristics of the stern tube bearing at the design stage with accuracy. So in this study, we conducted an analysis of the stern tube bearing characteristics taking arbitrary three-dimensional deflection of the shaft into consideration.
