  • The optimal design parameters of a dynamic absorber (DA) in a machine body (that is considered as a rigid body) are discussed in this paper. The bounce and rotation motions of the rigid body have been controlled passively by a DA, which consists of a mass and a spring. The rigid body is subjected to a harmonically excited force and supported by linear springs at both ends. To define the motion of a rigid body with a DA, the equation of motion was expressed in the third-order matrix form. To define the optimal design conditions of a DA, the reduction of dynamic characteristics, represented by the amplitudes of bounce and rotation, and the transmitted powers, were evaluated and discussed. The level of reduction was found to be highly dependent on the location and spring stiffness of the DA.

  • We report our discovery of observational evidence for the coherence between galaxy rotation and the average motion of neighbors. Using the Calar Alto Legacy Integral Field Area (CALIFA) survey data analyzed with the Python CALIFA STARLIGHT Synthesis Organizer (PyCASSO) platform, and the NASA-Sloan Atlas (NSA) catalog, we estimate the angular momentum vectors of 445 CALIFA galaxies and build composite maps of their neighbor galaxies on the parameter space of velocity versus distance. The composite radial profiles of the luminosity-weighted mean velocity of neighbors show striking evidence for dynamical coherence between the rotational direction of the CALIFA galaxies and the average moving direction of their neighbor galaxies. The signal of such dynamical coherence is significant for the neighbors within 800 kpc distance from the CALIFA galaxies with a confidence level of $3.5{\sigma}$, when the angular momentum is measured at the outskirt ($Re<R{\leq}2Re$) of each CALIFA galaxy. We also find that faint or kinematically misaligned galaxies show stronger coherence with neighbor motions than bright or kinematically well-aligned galaxies do. Our results show that the rotation of a galaxy, particularly at its outskirt, may be significantly influenced by recent interactions with its neighbors.

  • The recent completions of free-form spatial structures provide us a very attractive form. To realize such an extraordinary shape, it is absolutely necessary that the connector systems have to be investigated the characteristics of the systems and analyzed with a practicable method. In this context, this research consists of not only literature research but also numerical analysis with selected connector systems, which was adopted in real free-form spatial structures. For numerical analysis, especially, finite element analysis (FEA) is performed with a various test parameter using a commercial program ANSYS. Consequently, the general characteristics of node connectors the moment-rotation-curves are presented by considering a large deformation effect as well as a multi-linear material properties.

  • The present article is concerned about the study of disturbances in a homogeneous nonlocal magneto-thermoelastic medium under the combined effects of hall current, rotation and two temperatures. The model under assumption has been subjected to normal force. Laplace and Fourier transform have been used for finding the solution to the field equations. The analytical expressions for conductive temperature, stress components, normal current density, transverse current density and displacement components have been obtained in the physical domain using a numerical inversion technique. The effects of hall current and nonlocal parameter on resulting quantities have been depicted graphically. Some particular cases have also been figured out from the current work. The results can be very important for the researchers working in the field of magneto-thermoelastic materials, nonlocal thermoelasticity, geophysics etc.

  • In order to measure non-intrusively velocity profile in liquid metal flow, a modified electromagnetic flowmeter was designed, which was based on electromagnetic tomography technique. Under the assumption that flow is fully-developed, axisymmetric and rectilinear, the velocity profile was reconstructed after the flowmeter equation, the first kind of Fredholm integration equation, was linearized. In reconstruction process Tikhonov regularization method with regularization parameter was used. The reconstructed velocity profile had the nearly same as turbulent flow profile which was approximately represented as log law. In addition, flowmeter output fur a fixed magnet rotation angle was linearly proportional to flow rate. When magnet rotation angle was 54$^{\circ}$, axisymmetric weight function was nearly uniform so that the flowmeter gives a constant signal for any fully-developed, axisymmetric and rectilinear profile with a constant flow rate.

  • The natural frequency measurement of passenger car tire under the load and rotation are studied. In order to obtain theoretical natural frequency and mode shape, the plane vibration of a tire is modeled to that of circular beam. By using the Tickling method based on Hamilton's principle, theoretical results are determined by considering tension force due to tire inflation pressure, rotational velocity and tangential, radial stiffness. Modal parameters varying the inflation pressure, load, rotational velocity are determined experimentally by using frequency response function method. The results show that experimental conditions are parameter for shifting of natural frequency.

  • Finite element analysis and verification experiments were performed in order to find cause of defects such as folding and improper radius around the root area of the thread rolled stud bolts. Thread rolling experiments under several conditions were also carried out to understand the effect of process parameters, such as the rotation speed of the dies and the hardness of the work pieces, on the product quality. Folding defects at the top of thread are attributed to the higher hardness of the work piece and higher rotation speed of the rolling die. It was also found that the radius of screw mainly determined by the radius of the die.

  • Numerical solutions for spin-up problem of a thermally stratified fluid in a cylinder with an insulating sidewall and time-dependent rotation rate are presented. Detailed results are given for aspect ratio of O(1), fixed Ekman number $10-^{4}$, Rossby number 0.05 and Prandtl number O(1). Angular velocity of a cylinder wall changes with following formula, $\Omega_f=\Omega_i+\Delta\Omega[1-\exp(-t/t_c)]$. Here, this $t_c$, value, which is very significant in present study, represents that how fast/slow the angular velocity of the cylinder wall reaches final angular velocity. The normalized azimuthal velocity and meridional flow plots for several tc value which cover ranges of the stratification parameter S(1 ~ 10) are presented. The role of viscous-diffusion and Coriolis term in present study is examined by diagnostic analysis of the azimuthal velocity equation.

  • A Problem of relevant interest to some industries is that of obtaining optimum two-dimensional layout. To solve this provlem, one is given a number of rectangular sheets and an order for a specified number of each of certain types of two-dimensional regular and irregular shapes. The aim is to cut the the shapes out of the sheets in such a way as to minimize the amount of waste produced. A DCS (Distributed Control System) is an integrated system which applies the decentralization concept to a control system handling both sequential and analog control. A DCS performs many operations such as data gathering, data processing, data storing and monitoring the operatin conditions for the operator. IN this paper, we propose a genetic algorithm based on rotation parameters from which the best pattern of layout is found as well as a layout method for better performance time. A DCS for the plate cutting process system, which is performed by a virtual system, is also identified.

  • The friction surfacing system which has been successfully developed in RIST has both position control and force control by using hydraulic cylinder. In friction surfacing process mechtrode rotation speed(N) and feeding speed($V_{z}$), travelling speed($V_{x,y}$) are of critical importance for the width and thickness of the coating. As a result of DOE with developed system, the main effect of coating thickness is a rotation speed of mechtrode.
