Studies on the Effect of Captafol and Ethanol the Murine Immune System (Captafol 免疫毒性에 미치는 Ethanol의 영향)

  • Captafol (1H-Isoindole-1.3(2H)-dione, 3a, 4, 7, 7a-tetrahydro-2-[1, 1, 2, 2-tetrahydroethyltkio]) is widely used as fungicide in agriculture. Immune modulatory effects of captafol and ethanol were studied in mice. Mice administered captafol intra peritoneally every other day for 5 times, and ethanol per os as captafol. Mice were sensitized and challenged with sheep red blood cells, serum antibody titer, foot pad swelling, and rosette forming cell number were mediated immune response. 1. The result show that humoral immune response and cell mediatea response were suppressed by captafol. 2. Especially effect of ethanol on the captafol immune response were significantly suppressed the humoral immune response and cell mediated immune response.

Compensation of the Error due to Hole Eccentricity of Hole-drilling Method in Uniaxile Residual Stress Field Using Neural Network (신경망 기법을 이용한 1축 잔류응력장에서 구멍뚫기법의 구멍편심 오차 보정)

  • The measurement of residual stresses by the hole-drilling method has been commonly used to evaluate residual stresses in structural members. In this method, eccentricity can usually occur between the hole center and rosette gage center. In this study, the error due to the hole eccentricity is compensated using the neural network. The neural network has trained training examples of normalized eccentricity, eccentric direction and direction of maximum stress at eccentric case using backpropagation learning process. The trained neural network could compensated the error of measured residual stress in experiments with hole eccentricity. The proposed neural network is very useful for compensation of the error due to hole eccentricity in hole-drilling method.

  • The flowers of Alcea rosea L., Malvaceae, sold in the Indian market under the trade name 'Gulkhairo', are well known for their expectorant, cooling and diuretic properties and used in many indigenous cough mixtures in India. The present paper deals with the detailed pharmacognosy of the floral parts including morphological, anatomical, phytochemical and fluorescence characters. Some of the diagnostic features of the drug are : pedicel characterized by multicellular appendages, stellate hairs, rosette crystals of Ca-oxalate, starch sheath and large sized mucilage canals; sepals having distinctive multicellular appendages arranged in a semilunar fashion present adaxially at their base; monadelphous stamens, pollen grains pentaporate provided with dimorphic spines; placentation axile, ovules campylotropous; dark green fluorescence of the powder with nitrocellulose in amyl acetate and yellow fluorescence of trichomes under Fluorescence microscope.

  • 2/65/35 PLZT stock solution prepared by Sol-Gel processing was spin-coated on ITO coated glass and annealed by RTA(Rapid Thermal Annealing). The crystal structure of films was reported based on the observation of crystallization process and microstructure of the film fabricated at different fabrication condition. Films were crystallized into rhombohedral structure by annealing at $750^{\circ}C$ for 5 min. As the annealing temperature increased, the size of rosette structure of the films was grown up from $2.4{\mu}m$ to $15{\mu}m$, dielectric constant was increased, coercive field was decreased 33.82 kV/cm, remnant polarization was increased to 39.84 ${\mu}C/cm^2$ and Optical transmittance was decreased.

  • Variations with structural and electrical properties of Yttrium added PZT thin films were observed and measured respectively. Area of rosette was increased by Yttrium added and shapes of hysteresis curves were changed to slim type. $Y^{3+}$ ion substituted $Pb^{2+}$ ion and played the role of doner. Because the creation of space charges was restricted by Yttrium, degradation of remanent polarizations by cumutation of polarization reversals of PZT was protected. But coercive field was increased because of vacancies generated Yttrium added.

  • Rheocasting of AZ91D magnesium alloys yielded the microstructure consisted of the spherical primary particles in the matrix which is different from conventional casting. Rheocast ingots were produced under various processing conditions using batch type rheocaster. Morphology of primary particles was changed from rosette-shape to spherical shape with increasing stirring rate$(V_s)$ and decreasing isothermal stirring temperature$(T_s)$. With increasing $V_s$, more effective shearing between the particles occurred rather than the agglomeration and clustering, so the primary particle size decreased. But with decreasing $T_s$, primary particle size increased mainly due to sintering and partially Ostwald ripening. The sphericity of primary particles increased with increasing $V_s$ and decreasing $T_s$ due to enhanced abrasion among the primary particles. The uniformity of primary particle size increased with increasing Vs and $T_s$.

The Effect of Cimetidine, Ranitidine and Famotidine on the Immune Response in ICR Mice (마우스에 있어서 Cimetidine, Ranitidine 및 Famotidine이 면역반응에 미치는 영향)

  • Experiments were performed on mice to investigate the influences of cimetidine, ranitidine and famotidine on the immune response. Immune response were evaluated by antibody, Arthus reaction (Arthus), delayed type hypersensitivity (DTH), rosette forming cell (RFC), phagocyte activity and whit( blood cell (WBC) in mice, sensitized and challenged with sheep red blood cells (SRBC). The weight of liver, spleen and thymus were measured. Following results obtained in this experiment. 1) The administration of cimetidine as compared to normal group significantly decreased Arthus, Hemagglutinin titer (HA), RFC, DTH, WBC and phagocyte activity, but increased the activity of serum albumin. 2) The administration of ranitidine as compared to normal group decreased RFC and HA. 3) The administration of Famotidine as compared to normal group decreased DTH and RFC, and significantly decreased HA, Arthus and serum protein. 4) The administration of ranitidine and famotidine decreased more humoral immune response than cellular immune response, but the administration of cimetidine significantly decreased humoral and cellular immune response, WBC and phagocyte activity.

Prediction for the Error of Hole Eccentricity in Hole-drilling Method Using Neural Network (신경회로망을 이용한 구멍뚫기법의 편심 오차 예측)

  • The measurement of residual stresses by the hole-drilling method has been commonly used to evaluate residual stresses in structural members. In this method, eccentricity can usually occur between the hole center and rosette gage center. In this study, the error due to the hole eccentricity is predicted using the artificial neural network. The neural network has trained training examples of stress ratio, normalized eccentricity, off-centered direction and stress error using backpropagation loaming process. The prediction results of the error using the trained neural network are good agreement with FE analyzed ones.

Effects of Houttuyniae Herba on Immune Responses and Histological Findings in Mice Bearing Pneumonitis (어성초추출물(魚腥草抽出物)이 폐렴유발(肺炎誘發) 생쥐의 면역반응(免疫反應) 및 조직변화(組織變化)에 미치는 영향(影響))

  • In order to investigate the preventive and therapeutic effects of Herba Houttuyniae, experimental studies on the immune response and histological findings were undertaken. The results of these studies were summarized as follows; Delayed type hypersensitivity and rosette formation rate were significantly increased compared with control group. Hemagglutination, hemolysin titer and NK cell activity were variable, not significantly against the control group. When observed on lung tissue recovery; experimental groups were shown to be significantly recovered as compared with the control group. From these results, it is suggested that Houttuyniae Herba promotes immune response and reduces the recovery time of pneumonitis and lung abscess from the histological viewpoint.
