유한요소법을 이용한 구동상태에 따른 타이어의 특성 분석 (Analysis of Tire Characteristics according to Driving Conditions using Finite Element Method)

  • This paper discusses the measurement of tire driving performance for 2 types of tire model. Tire is almost composed of rubber, and this is related with the bearing capacity of tire due to the external force. In this study, an explicit time integration method has been used to simulate steady state rolling along a straight path and over a cleat. And analysis for tire dynamic response rolling over a cleat is importnat to study automobile NVH properties. Besides, the evaluation of contact shear force is perfomed for steady state rolling and braking state. The results show that there are noticeable differences between 205/60R15 and 225/60R15 tire model.

점용접 시 압흔 깊이 감소를 위한 절연팁 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of Insulated Electrode Tip for Spot Welding to Reduce Indentation)

  • Stainless rolling stocks are usually fabricated by spot welding process without painting. Indentation on the surface of the car body after spot welding injures the beauty of the stainless rolling stocks. In this study, insulated electrode tips to reduce the indentation are developed and applied to the actual spot welding works. The developed tips are composed of head, neck, hole for cooling water, body and resistance material. They provide large surface contact area with the base materials during spot welding and enhance the current density by necking. Experimental results using the developed tips show that small indentation and sufficient tensile shear strength is produced due to large contact area and enhanced current density.

국내 철도 차륜/레일형상 조합에 따른 차량 동특성 분석 연구 (A Study on Dynamic Characteristics of the Rolling-stock for the Combination of Domestic Wheel/Rail Profiles)

  • Railway wheel/rail contact conditions have influences on dynamic behavior of the rolling stock. If there are incompatibility problems between the wheel and rail, damages like wheel wear, wheel spalling, rail wear, etc are occurred. Especially wheel and rail profiles are important factors of vehicle curving performance, so compatibility studies between wheel and rail profiles have to be carried out preferentially. In this study, we have studied the compatibility between wheel and rail profiles of KNR conventional line to analyze the dynamic performances of the rolling-stock. Thus we showed the results relating to wheel/rail geometric contact, vehicle running performances as the change of wheel/rail combination.

  • A numerical analysis of elastohydrodynamic lubrication of elliptical contacts with both rolling and spinning has been carried out. A finite difference method with non-uniform grid systems and the Newton-Raphson method are applied to solve the problems. The velocity vectors resulting from combined spinning and rolling/sliding motion lead to asymmetric pressure distributions and film shapes. Pressure distributions, film contours and variations of the minimum and central film thicknesses are compared with various spin-roll ratios. Reduction of the minimum film thickness under spinning is remarkable whereas the central film thickness is relatively less. The spin motion have large effect on variations of the minimum film thickness with load parameter which are small in pure rolling/sliding cases. Therefore present numerical scheme can be used in the analysis of general elliptical contact EHL problems and further studies are required.

  • A general approach is proposed for 3-D coupled FE analysis of the deformation of the strip and rolls in flat rolling. FE formulation, schemes for the treatment of contact occurring in a cluster of deforming objects, and the solution strategy are described in detail. The validity of the approach is examined through comparison with observed measurements. The approach is applied to the analysis of deformation in a four-high and six-high mill.

철도 차륜의 구름접촉 피로 균열에 관한 유한요소해석 (FEM Analysis on Rolling Contact Fatigue Crack of a Railway Wheel)

  • In this study, tensile and fatigue crack propagation tests machined from actual wheels were performed. FEM analysis also was performed on the crack that was assumed to be 15 mm in depth under the wheel tread surface. The stress intensity factors K I and K II at the crack tip under the stress($P_{max}=911.5MPa$) due to a rolling contact were analyzed for crack growth characteristics. As a result, the perpendicular crack was found to be more dangerous compared to the parallel one. It is found that in the wheel fatigue crack, parallel to the wheel tread surface, the crack with its length 2a = 2.4mm starts to propagate due to the fact that the effective stress intensity factor access to the threshold stress intensity factor($K_{th}=16.04MPa{\sqrt{m}}$) of the wheel.

  • Under repeated rolling, initial plastic deformation introduces residual stresses which render the steady cyclic state purely elastic. This is called the process of shakedown. Many studies have been done about the shakedown in semi-infinite half space using calculated Hertizian pressure. In this paper shakedown processes in a shaft are studied by finite element analyses of a two dimensional(plane strain) model with elastic-linear-kinematic-hardening-plastic material subjected to repeated, frictionless rolling contact. Symmetric and non-symmetric pressure distributions are obtained using a simplified model of the bearing-shaft assembly. The rolling contact is simulated by repeatedly translating both pressure distributions along the surface of the shaft. By the influence of the non-symmetric pressure, larger residual radial tensile stress is generated in the immediate subsurface layer, which may make a crack propagate and, the subsurface undergoes a zigzag plastic deformation during the shakedown process, which may lead to a crack initiation.

  • The running safety of the rolling stock depends on the design characteristics and the contact condition between wheel and railway. In this study, it is analyzed how equivalent conicity of wheel tread or its characteristics has influence on the running safety.

시판세제의 세정성과 Rolling-up의 상관성에 관한 연구 (A study on the Correlationship between Detergency of Commercial Detergents and Rolling-up)

  • The purpose of this study was, to estimate the detergency of commercial detergent and to examine the interrelationship between detergency and detergent characteristics, detergent concentration, fiber characteristics, and Rolling-up phenomenon which is the major removal mechanism of oily soil. A mixture of oleic acid-olive oil was used as oily soil. The detergency was estimated by analysis of oleic acid on cotton ana polyester fabrics before and after washing by means of liquid scintillation counting. The Rolling-up of oily soil from PET film was observed and change of contact angle and removal time were measured. The results were as follows ; 1. In the case of soaps and powder synthetic detergents, the optimum concentrations we-re about $0.2\~0.3\%$. And detergencies of liquid synthetic detergents were considerably low, and the detergency was continually increased up with increasing concentration to $0.5\%$, which seemed to be caused by the lower pH than that of soap and powder synthetic deter-gent solutions. 2. As the effect of external or internal fiber structure; the detergency of cotton was lower than that of polyester. 3. In the observation of Rolling-up, the contact angle increased and the Rolling-up time became shorter with increasing detergent concentrations ($0.05\~0.5\%$). And it was confirmed that detergency was increased with Rolling-up effect. In addition, the study on the actual laundry condition was studied using the questionaire. From the results, about $76\%$ of households used the concentration of detergent roughly or excessively and housewives were highly concerned on the recommended dose, but grade of practice were very low.
