  • In this paper, a decoupler of tandem cold rolling mill is designed. Before designing the decoupler, this paper improved conventional linear model by considering friction and yield stress of rolling strip. In a stand, the decoupler let an output be controlled by an input. And even if states of other stands should be changed, current stand takes no interference from those changes. In addition, with the same method, a feedforward controller is designed for an input strip thickness error. Finally, performance of controllers above is shown with nonlinear simulation.

  • In this paper, web-based remote monitoring for cold-rolling system is developed and the analysis of spatial control system is performed. The remote monitoring system is able to grasp the status of cold-rolling system regardless of time and locations. We analyzed spatial control algorithm of the system with the collected data. The usefulness of spatial control system is shown by simulation studies.

  • A process model including the effects of both the texture development and ductile damage evolution In plane strain rolling is presented. In this process model, anisotropy from deformation texture and deterioration of mechanical properties due to growth of micro voids are directly coupled Into the virtual work expressions for the momentum and mass balances. Special treatments in obtaining the initial values of field variables in the nonlinear simultaneous equations for the anisotropic, dilatant viscoplastic deformation are also given. Mutual effects of the texture development and damage evolution during plate rolling are carefully examined in terms of the distribution of strain components, accumulated damage, R-value as well as yield surfaces.

  • An inhomogeneous rolling texture of high purity aluminum has been observed by a multilayered rolling. The shear texture of (100)[110] component developed in the surface layer, and the copper type rolling texture developed in the middle and center layers. The through-thickness texture variation has been calculated by the full-constraint Taylor model combined with FEM. The calculated results are in good agreement with the measured data.

  • The effect of frictional rolling and subsequent heat treatment was studied on the evolution of texture of AA 3003 Aluminum alloy. With frictional rolling without lubrication it is possible to obtain a larger friction between roll and sample which lead to the formation of uniform rolling texture in the whole thickness layers.

  • Safety and punctuality in the subway are considered as critical factors. This system is composed of many factors like signals, rails, electrical power sources, rolling stocks. The effective inspection should be carried out at all the times for the safety and punctuality. Purpose of the rolling stocks maintenance is to offer the optimum condition of vehicles, and minimize the maintenance expenses. This paper suggests appropriate maintenance period of rolling stocks to enhance the utility efficiency in SMSC.

  • Profile ring rolling process for large slewing rings of alley steels are developed. A profile ring with a round groove located asymmetrically on the outer surface is rolled. The process is simulated by the finite element method. The general-purpose commercial finite element analysis software, MSC.Superform, was used. Experiments are carried in the ring rolling machine and compared with the analysis.

  • This paper gives the way of analyzing internal noise of rolling stocks which is urgently required by civilians. Triangular beam method among ray tracing techniques is utilized to compute noise distribution of rolling stocks. Noise source and transmisstion loss of several sections from experimental work are included in this calculation. Ray tracing technique is found useful to compute big structures like rolling stocks.
