소프트닙 캘린더의 닙 압력 프로파일 평가와 닙 내 열전달 현상에 대한 해석 (Evaluation of the Nip Pressure Profile and Analysis of Heat Transfer in Soft Nip Calender)

  • Understanding the nip geometry and heat transfer phenomena of soft nip calenders, which has been used in the production of newsprint and coated papers for many years, is very important since improper setting of soft nip calendering conditions causes deterioration of paper quality and productivity. In this study theoretical analysis on nip pressure and heat transfer phenomena in the nip of soft nip calenders has been made. The variables examined were calendering pressure, surface temperature of the heating roll, nip residence time and ingoing sheet moisture, By measuring nip widths and maximum nip pressure with Prescale film at a normal temperature, accurate line load has been obtained. With this line load, nip pressures at different temperature and nip widths were calculated. Results showed that as temperature increased, nip widths increased and nip pressures decreased. Equations derived for the heat conduction phenomena in soft nip calender nip were derived based on the semi-infinite plate and finite difference method and were used for the analysis of heat transfer within the nip. Temperature profiles in z-direction of paper within the nip were obtained. Finite difference method allowed more accurate analysis of the heat transfer in the calender nip. In this study newsprint and coated paper were considered as a single plate and two-layer plate consisted of sheet and coating layers, respectively. Heat trans-fer to paper increased as heated roll surface temperature and nip residence time were increased.

PaperMill - 박막과 마이크로 엔드밀을 사용한 적층조형 시스템 (PaperMill - A Layered Manufacturing System Using Lamination and Micro Endmill)

  • A new Layered Manufacturing(LM) system, named PaperMill, is developed applying micro milling technology. A micro endmill(127 11m in diameter) is introduced as the cutter of build material. The selected build material for this system is an adhesive-coated paper roll which provides advantages such as good bonding between layers, machinability, and low material cost. A 3-axis CNC controller and three step-motors are used for the movement of X-Y-Z table of the system. For simplicity of the control of mechanism, the control system for feeding the paper roll is uncoupled from CNC controller. Two code converters are developed for the toolpath generation of the new LM system. The NC converter generates a set of NC codes for PaperMill using commercial CAM software while the SML converter generates an NC code from Quickslice's SML format. The NC codes generated from the converters consist of a series of profile data and trigger code for paper feeding. Two sample gears were fabricated to prove the concept of the system, which shown that the dimensional errors of the fabricated gears is under 3.4 percent.

메인롤을 이용한 대형 형상링롤링의 예비성형체 연구 (Preform design of large sized profile ring rolling using main roll)

  • 본 연구는 외경부에 단이 존재하는 제품의 링롤링작업을 위한 예비성형체의 설계에 관한 연구이다. 형상링롤링 공정에서 가장 일반적으로 나타나는 결함 중 하나는 미충진이며, 변형량이 적을 경우나 외경부 단의 깊이가 클 경우 발생한다. 이러한 미충진을 방지하기 위해서는 변형량을 증가시키거나 예비성형체를 최종형상에 근접하도록 설계하여야 한다. 결함이 없는 제품을 생산하기 위하여 형상비와 성형비를 이용한 충진한계식을 제안하였다. 충진한계식은 네가지 경우에 대하여 유한요소해석과 시험생산한 결과를 토대로 작성되었다. 실물 크기의 형상링롤링 작업을 수행하고 충진한계식을 이용한 예측과 비교함으로써 제안된 방법의 타당성을 검증하였다.

풍속 분포곡선이 어선의 풍하중에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (Effect of Wind Speed Profile on Wind Loads of a Fishing Boat)

  • 지난 10년간 복원력 상실에 의한 어선의 해양사고가 지속해서 증가하고 있으며, 갑작스러운 강풍이 주요 원인으로 지적되고 있다. 이러한 강풍에도 견딜 수 있는 어선의 운동·조종성능을 확보하기 위해서는 정밀한 풍하중 예측 기법이 우선되어야 한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 전산유체역학 기법을 이용한 어선의 풍하중 평가기법을 개발하고자 한다. 특히, 고도 변화에 따라 풍속이 변화하는 계산환경을 모사하여 그 결과를 균일한 속도분포를 가정한 수치해석 결과와 비교 분석하고자 한다. 본 연구에서는 0-180°까지 15° 간격으로 13개의 방향에 대해 풍하중을 계산하였으며, 계산에 사용된 메쉬 모델은 메쉬 의존성 시험을 수행하여 개발하였다. 전산수치해석은 RANS(Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes) 기반 상용 해석 Solver인 STAR-CCM+(Ver. 13.06)와 k-ω 난류 모델을 이용하여 정상상태(Steady State) 유동해석을 수행하였다. 수치해석결과를 간략히 살펴보면 Surge, Sway 및 Heave에서 39.5 %, 41.6 % 및 46.1 % 풍하중이 감소하였으며 Roll, Pitch 및 Yaw에서 48.2 %, 50.6 % 및 36.5 % 감소하였다. 결론적으로 본 연구에서는 고도에 따른 풍속 변화 모델을 통해 기존보다 정밀한 수준의 풍하중 추정이 가능한 것을 확인하였으며, 그 결과가 선박의 풍하중 추정 평가기법 발전에 이바지하길 기대한다.

Ti-6Al-4V 합금의 형상 링 압연공정 설계 및 제조기술 (Design and Manufacturing processes of Ti-6Al-4V profiled ring-products)

  • Design and Manufacturing processes of Ti-6Al-4V profiled ring-products were investigated with three-dimensional FEM simulation and experimental analyses. FEM simulation for the ring-rolling process was used to calculate the state variables such as strain, strain rate and temperature. In the simulation results of strain and temperature distributions for a plane ring rolling process, the strain level at the surface area is higher than that at the mid-plane, but the temperature level at the surface area is lower than that at mid-plane due to heat transfer between the workpiece and the work roll. These distributions showed a great influence on the evolution of microstructure in different positions. In order to induce the uniform deformation of the profile ring and reduce the applied load, the final blank was prepared by two-step processes. The mechanical properties of Ti-6Al-4V alloy ring products made in this work were investigated with tensile and impact tests and analyzed with the evolution of microstructures during the ring rolling process.

항공 정찰용 Step-stare 영상획득 시스템 설계 (Design of the Step-stare Image Gathering System for an Aerial Reconnaissance)

  • This paper presents design and performance validation of a method for motion compensation using fast steering mirror. First of all, the schematics of the Electro Optical/Infra-Red (EO/IR) and step-stare image gathering system for an aerial reconnaissance are introduced. Because of the steering mirror with low inertia so called Back scan mechanism (BSM), the fast step-stare image gathering technique that is required for taking a high-definition still image will be realized. After then, the BSM hardware includes motors and feedback sensors are introduced. Also, the motion profile for BSM will be designed to compensate roll scan motion of the gimbals. At the end of this paper, designed profile and tracking performance of the EO/IR system with BSM will be validated through experiments.

니켈합금 Alloy42를 사용하는 리드프레임의 블랭킹 특성에 관한 기초연구 (A Study on the Characteristics for the Blanking of Lead Frame with the nickel alloy Alloy42)

  • An experimental is carried out to investigate the characteristics of blanking for nickel alloy Alloy42 (t=0.203mm), a kind of IC lead frame material. By varying clearance between die and punch the shapes of shear profile are examined. Finite element analysis with element deletion algorithm for ductile fracture mode is also carried out to study the effect of clearance theoretically and to compare with experimental results. The rectangular shape specimen with four different comer radius is used to study the characteristics of blanking for straight side and comer region simultaneously. As the result the ratios measured k(m experiment of roll over, burnish and fracture zone based on initial blank thickness are compared with those of FE analysis. Both experiment and FE analysis show that the amount of mil over and fracture is increased as the clearance increases. When the radius of comer is less than thickness of blank it has been found that larger clearance is required than that of straight region in order to maintain same quality of shear profile at the comer region.

  • In printed electronics, printing rolls are used to transfer electronic ink onto a flexible substrate. Generally printing rolls are patterned in microscale by the indirect laser method. Since based on the wet etch process, the indirect method is neither environment-friendly nor suitable for making a printing roll with patterns narrower than $20{\mu}m$. In this paper, we have directly engraved micro-patterns into a Zn-coated metal specimens using a picosecond laser in order both to engrave $10{\mu}m$-wide patterns and to improve the pattern profile. Experiments showed that it is possible to engrave $10{\mu}m$-wide patterns with an a rectangular-shaped profile which is necessary for the dimensionally accurate printing.

  • This paper summarizes the results of a numerical study conducted to analyze the effect of selected process parameters on material flow and thread profile in thread rolling of large diameter blanks. Based on the previous work where a plane strain mode was found to provide a reasonable approximation of the thread rolling process, the effect of varying thread form, friction factor, flow stress, and blank diameter on effective strain and thread height was analyzed using the finite element code DEFORM. This study show that effective strain for flank angle, that blank diameter had important effect on the as-rolled thread while flow stress, friction factor, and crest round of dies had significant impact on effective strain at the thread root and crest and load of thread rolling. While the rate of strain harding was found to have an effect on the crest profile, the results indicate that it is the primary factor responsible for seam formation in rolled threads.

바람 하중에 의한 크루즈선의 횡경사 예측 및 제어에 관한 연구 (Study on Prediction and Control of Wind-Induced Heel Motion of Cruise Ship)

  • The present study considers the prediction of wind-induced heel of cruise ship and its stabilization. Wind load in ocean exerts on the surface of superstructure of cruise ship, which causes the heel moment on the ship. The calculation of wind load starts from choosing wind speed profile, so that the logarithmic wind profile model is applied in this study. Heel moment by wind load is calculated by adopting approximate formulation and applied to the ship motion analysis in time domain. Motion stabilizers, such as stabilizing fin and U-tube tank, are considered to reduce the heel effect as well as excessive roll motion. From this study, it is expected that the present method can be applied to the prediction and stabilization of the heel motion of cruise ships.
