  • The railway vehicle is a multi-body system running on the track which consists of carbody, bogie and wheelset, each of components is connected with rigid mass, spring and damper. each of components has translation motions of longitudinal (X axis), lateral(Y axis) and vertical(Z axis) direction, and rotation motions of X, Y, Z axis which are named Rolling, Pitching and Yawing. The vibration mode of railway vehicle is difficult to find the characteristics of motion during the operation on the track because these happen to independence or duplication motion caused by vehicle, wheel/rail and track irregularity etc. This paper presents the result of ramp test to show the bounce, roll, pitch and yaw mode frequency of the railway vehicle.

  • This paper is concerned with the dynamic modeling for the hardware-in-the-loop simulation of lateral vibrations of a railway vehicle. The resulting dynamic model is a nine degree-of-freedom model which can describe the lateral, roll and yaw motions of the car body and two bogies. It is assumed that the external disturbances come from wheel motions. In order to test the efficacy of the model, the linear quadratic regulator and the sky-hook control algorithm were designed and applied to the model. The simulation results show that both control algorithms are effective in suppressing the vibrations of railway vehicles.

  • In this paper, we present our implementation of the direct camera model (image to ground) for SPOT5 and use it to assess the geometric accuracy of SPOT5 imagery. Our assessment confirms the location accuracy of SPOT5 imagery (without use of GCPs) is less than 50m. We further introduce a few attitude parameters to refine the camera model with GCPs. The model is applied to two SPOT5 supermode images, one near vertical, incidence angle of 3 degrees, and one far oblique, incidence angle of 27 degrees. The results show that accuracy (rms of check points) of about one pixel (2.5m) can be achieved with about 4 GCPs by using only 3 parameters to correct the yaw, pitch and roll of the satellite.

  • Standards concerning the determination of positioning accuracy and repeatability of numerically controlled(NC) machine tools have been published relentlessly over the last 20 years. Since the publication in 1988 of the International Standard 230-2 there has been a pronounced move, both at national and international standards level, to embrace further test procedures for a complete machine tool performance assessment. For example, measurements of angular (pitch, roll, and yaw) and straightness errors along linear axes are now commonplace and complement the existing positioning accuracy and repeatablity tests. More recently the subject of circularity evalutaion has also gained considerable interest. Here dynamic tests, using a kinematic ballbar or circular masterpiece, give an instant overview of the contouring ability of the machine in two axes at specific feedrates. This information is extremely important in optimising machining accuracy. This paper describes moves to complete the machine calibration package in national and international standardis- ation for the assessment of machine tool performance.

  • The Tension Leg Platform(TLP) is restrained from oscillating vertically by tethers(or tendons), which are vertical anchor lines tensioned by the platform buoyancy larger than the platform weight. Thus a TLP is a compliant structure which allows lateral movements of surge, sway, and yaw but restrains heave, pitch, roll. In this paper, the motions of a TLP in current and waves were investigated. Hydrodynamic forces and wave exciting forces acting on the TLP were evaluated using the three dimensional source distribution method. The motion responses and tension variations of the TLP were analyzed in the case of including current or not including one in regular waves and effects of current on the TLP were investigated.

  • In this paper an initial alignment algorithm for a strapdown inertial navigation system is implemented using a RISC CPU board. The algorithm computes roll pitch and yaw angles of the direction cosine matrix utilizing measured components of the specific force and earth rate when the navigation system is stationary. The coarse alignment algorithm is performed first and then the fine alignment algorithm containing a 3rd-order gyrocompass loop follows. The experimental set consists of an IMU a CPU board and a monitoring system Experimental results show that the implemented algorithm can be utilized in navigation systems.

  • In this paper, a new coarse alignment algorithm is proposed for roughly determining the initial attitude of the vehicle. The algorithm, referred as two-step coarse alignment algorithm, computes roll and pitch angle of the vehicle using accelerometer outputs, and then determines yaw angle with gyro outputs. With the geometric relation between sensor outputs and attitude angles, the algorithm error is analytically derived and compared with the previous coarse alignment algorithm that computes a transformation matrix using accelerometer md gyro outputs simultaneously. The simulation is also performed by varying the sensor errors. The results show that the proposed two-step coarse alignment algorithm has better performance for east tilt angle.

  • As the accuracy of manufactured goods needed high accuracy processing has made the efficiency of NC and measurement technology development, the innovation of machine tools has influence the development of the semi-conductor and optical technology. The movement errors can be expressed in terms of yaw, roll an pitch etc. In the case of expanding the error range, static, dynamic and servo gain errors can be included. Machining center might have twenty-one movement errs including three types of joint errors. Those errors have been measured on the condition of just loading of standard table. Regarding these measuring methods, the mechanical compliance of the structure has not been considered. In this paper, therefor, the influences of the additional load on the positioning accuracy are investigated. The results and the techniques proposed in this study can be considered very effective and useful to compensate more correctly the positioning motion.

  • Helicopter offer the signigicant advantage over traditional air vehicles, in that the provide extended maneuverability, such as vertical climb, hovering, longitudinal and lateral flight, hovering turns and bank turns. But helicopter have the strong cross couplings and nonlinearities for each lateral, longitudinal and rotational motion mutually. However, it is possible to ignore this couplings for the hovering condition, so using this properties we can control the attitude of helicopter. That is, by implementing the dynamic of each rotational axis(roll, pitch, yaw) of independent mutually, 3-DOF(degree of Freedom) attitude control for the helicopter is possible. In this paper, we identify decoupled input-coutput relations of each three rotational axis about the helicopter mounted on the 3-DOF gimbal by experiment, and on these basis implement 3-DOF attitude controller using the PID control method.
