  • The present study examines the relationship among relationship quality, organizational commitment, and prosocial behavior. In this study, relationship quality is defined as relationship quality between manager and employee (RQME) and relationship quality between organization and employee (RQOE). The authors also investigate the mediating roles of RQOE and organizational commitment in the conceptual research model. Findings indicate that RQME has a positive and direct effect on RQOE, organizational commitment, and prosocial behavior. The results also show that both RQOE and organizational commitment have a mediating role in the relationship between RQME and prosocial behavior of employees. Finally, the authors found that RQOE influences prosocial behavior through organizational commitment.

  • This study examined the relationship between ambivalence of Korean working mothers for children and their future desire for child birth. This study examined multiple-role efficacy as a mediator in the relationship between ambivalence for their children and future desire for child birth by Korean working mothers having more than one pre-school aged child. This study examined the mediation effect of multiple-role efficacy on the relationship between ambivalence and desire for child birth by working mothers. On-line and off-line survey data from 291 Korean working mothers with more than one pre-school aged child was used for this study. Collected data were analyzed using the PASW 18.0 program and descriptive statistics analyses. Structural equation modeling and bootstrapping were conducted by AMOS 20.0 program. Results showed that ambivalence for children of working mothers having pre-school aged children had no direct influence on future child birth desire. However, their ambivalence had an indirect influence on future child birth desire through multiple-role efficacy and multiple-role efficacy by working mothers had significant effect on child birth desire. In conclusion, the working mothers' multiple-role efficacy had a mediation influence on the relationship between ambivalence for children and desire of child birth. These results were discussed for designing a policy to counter low birth.

The overall research hypotheses examined were : (1) there is a relationship between demographic and socioeconomic characteristics of the husband and wife and the sex role orientation of the husband and wife; (2) for both husbands and wives, there is a relationship between sex role orientation and the amount of household production time that is accomplised by each individual; and (3) the relationship between sex role orientation and the amount of household production time remains when demographic and socioeconomic factors are controlled. The 1981 data from the 1975-1981 Time Use Longitudinal Panel Study collected at the University of Michigan were used for this study. The major findings is that a relationship between sex role orientation and the amount of time spent in three household production activities was not found, when all independent variables were controlled. • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to empirically verify the difference between traditional gender role attitude and realistic dual earner attitude. Most preceding studies analyzed gender role attitude by summated rating scale while few studies have been conducted on the difference between traditional gender role attitude and dual earner attitude. Method: By using the 9th Korea Welfare Panel Data (year 2014), this study extracted households of married couples and with children in working age (18 through 64 years of age) who are the main subjects in work-family relationship. First, this study classified traditional group and modern group in their gender role attitude and passive group and active group in their dual earner attitude and by crossing these attitudes, drew out 4 gender role/dual earner attitudes. For analysis, this study investigated frequency of attitude types through descriptive statistics. By conducting ANOVA, study verified if there are significant differences in the satisfaction with family relationship depending on the types of gender role/dual earner attitudes. Lastly, study examined the effect of socio-economic status and demographic characteristics on the types of gender role/dual earner attitudes by conducting multi-nominal logistic regression analysis. Results: As the result of analysis, first, half of respondents belonged to 'equal-role-oriented type' who has modern gender role attitude and active dual earner attitude. However, there were not a few 'dual-earner-avoiding type' who has modern gender role attitude but passive dual earner attitude and 'incongruous attitude type' who has traditional gender role attitude but active dual earner attitude. Next, 'incongruous attitude type' had significantly low level of satisfaction with overall family life, relationship with spouse and relationship with children than other attitude types. Lastly, those whose incomes belong to poor strata, those who are high school graduates and lower, males and those who are over the age of 60 had significantly higher probability of belonging to 'incongruous attitude type.' Conclusion: The results of analysis demonstrate that the difference between gender role attitude and dual earner attitude is an important matter and since 'incongruous attitude type' exhibits low level of satisfaction with family relationship, scrupulous policy approaches are required for those who have high possibility of belonging to 'incongruous attitude type.'
