One set of hardware system of guide point method (GP method), modified from the multistage convergent photographing technique, was developed to interpret the geometrical characteristics of Joints photogrammetrically on rock slope. Before the field application of the hardware system, the level of errors and constraints that ran be acceptable in the field measurement has been severely investigated in the laboratory and the optimum photographing scheme was analyzed. The range of the most suitable convergence angle between two cameras was $25^{\circ}{\sim}150^{\circ}$ and the photographing distance was about 5.5 m when using a 2 M pixel digital camera. An extended analyzing technique, which was newly developed in this study, was applied to the field measurement to magnify the benefits of GP method. This technique can be applied when survey for the wide range of rock surface is necessary. The global coordinates of ground control points for the neighbor photographing area ran be introduced without any preparation from the previous photographed area using this technique. It could reduce phographing time in the field.
The change of strain-dependent hydraulic conductivity around mined panels due to subsidence is examined where normal and shear strains, modulus reduction ratio and joint spacing are major factors controlling the changes of hydraulic conductivity. Modulus reduction ratio and joint spacing are defined through RMR and RQD, respectively. Utilizing these two empirical parameters, changes of hydraulic conductivity values of a full gamut of rock mass conditions are determined. The change of hydraulic conductivity is not apparent in the near surface area and more significant change takes place in the area around mined panels. A zone of strong influence from the subsidence extends to a height of approximately 20m above mined panels. The shear strain does also play the role of increasing a hydraulic conductivity around mined panels. As RMR of rock mass decreases, a hydraulic conductivity is found to be increased and this means that subsidence in a poor rock with low RMR has a great effect on a hydraulic conductivity field.
Well logging technologies are used to measure the physical properties of reservoirs through boreholes. These technologies have been utilized to understand reservoir characteristics, such as porosity, fluid saturation, etc., using equations based on rock physics models. The analysis of well logs is performed by selecting a reliable rock physics model adequate for reservoir conditions or characteristics, comparing the results using the Archie's equation or simandoux method, and determining the most feasible reservoir properties. In this study, we developed a joint inversion algorithm to estimate physical properties in shaly sandstone reservoirs based on the pre-existing algorithm for sandstone reservoirs. For this purpose, we proposed a rock physics model with respect to shale volume, constructed the Jacobian matrix, and performed the sensitivity analysis for understanding the relationship between well-logging data and rock properties. The joint inversion algorithm was implemented by adopting the least-squares method using probabilistic approach. The developed algorithm was applied to the well-logging data obtained from the Colony gas sandstone reservoir. The results were compared with the simandox method and the joint inversion algorithms of sand stone reservoirs.
The surface settlement of the back ground of a braced wall due to the ground excavation has the great influence on the safety of the surrounding area. But it is not easy to predict the settlement of the surrounding area due to proud excavation. Estimation of the settlement of the surface ground induced by the deformation of the braced wall is performed by FEM and empirical method (Peck, Clough etc). In this research, surface settlement of the back ground braced wall depending on the joint dips in rocks during excavating the composit ground was measured at the large scale model test (standard: $0.3m{\times}0.3m{\times}0.5m$). The scale of model test was 1/14.5 and the ground was excavated in ten steps. Earth pressure on the braced wall and ground surface settlement on the back ground of a braced wall were investigated. The surface settlement during the excavation depended on the joint dips in rocks on of the ratio of rock layer. Maximum earth pressure and maximum surface settlement were masured at the same excavation step. In accordance with the increase of the rock layer dips and rock layer ratio, the ground surface settlement increased. The maximum ground surface settlement was 17 times larger at 60 degree joint dips in rocks than that of the horizontal ground conditions. And the position of the maximum surface settlement by empirical method was calculated at the point, which was 17%~33% of excavation depth. In accordance with the increase of the rock layer dips and rock layer ratio, the ground maximum surface settlement increased. The ground surface settlement of composite ground is smaller than that of the empirical.
This paper presents the results of a two-dimensional finite element analysis of end bearing capacity of single pile installed in fractured rock mass. A number of cases were analyzed using Hoek-Brown criterion that can consider the condition of rock joints. Considering a wide range of joint conditions in which the pile is embedded into the rock, GSI was set as a main parameter. And the effects of pile diameter, unconfined compressive strength of rock and Hoek-Brown constant $m_0$ were considered. Based on parameter study, end bearing load factor graphs were suggested.

The subject of this study is the Maae Buddha statue in granodiorite of the Mesozoic Cretaceous period, which is concerned about stability as a standing stone cultural property located in ◯◯-dong, Gyeongsangbuk-do. For stability analysis, three-dimensional face mapping, geological properties of joints, three-dimensional scanning, ultrasonic velocity, polarization microscopy, electron microscopy analysis and XRD analysis were performed. In addition, the safety factor of the Maaebul was calculated by analyzing the damage status investigation, stereographic projection analysis, rock classification, and limit equilibrium analysis. The types and scales of damage and possible collapse by section depend on the degree of weathering of the rock and the orientation and characteristics of the joints, but wedge-failure and toppling-failure are expected to be small-scale. The safety factor of Maaebul in dry and wet conditions is less than 1.2, so stability is concerned. The types of damage were mainly observed, such as exfoliation, cracking, granular decomposition, and vegetation growth. The Maaebul rock is granodiorite, and the surface discoloration materials are K, Fe, and Mg. The 4 sets of joints are developed, J1 is tensile joint and the others are shear joint. The uniaxial compressive strength estimated by ultrasonic exploration is 514kgf/cm2, which corresponds to most soft rocks and some weathered rocks. Rock classification(RMR) is estimated to be grade 5, very poor rock mass. These technique along with the existing methods of safety diagnosis of cultural properties are expected to be a reasonable tool for objective interpretation and stability review of stone cultural properties.
This study aimed to develop high-efficiency grouting techniques under deep-depth conditions by experimentally verifying the applicability of various injection materials. Particle size analysis and injection model experiments were conducted with Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) and Micro Cement (MC) to evaluate the injection performance of each material. Using Barton's Cubic Network theory, the rock fracture spacing was calculated for domestic deep-depth standards, specifically below 40 meters underground. The analysis of particle size passability under selected conditions showed that MC could pass through the rock fracture gaps, while OPC could not. According to the results of the injection model experiments using experimental devices and area calculation software, OPC failed in injection due to its larger particle size, whereas MC was capable of injection even under high-viscosity conditions. Based on these findings, the study quantitatively and visually derived the applicability of grouting materials under deep-depth conditions, and high-viscosity MC material is expected to be effective for waterproofing enhancement in deep-depth rock fracture surfaces.
Prediction of fragmentation in bench blasting is one of the most important factors to establish the production plan. It is widely accepted that fragmentation could be accurately predicted using the Kuz-Ram model in bench blasting. Nevertheless, the model has an ambiguous or subjective aspect in evaluating the model parameters such as joint condition, rock strength, density, burden, explosive strength and spacing. This study proposes a new method to evaluate the parameters of Kuz-Ram model, and the predicted mean fragment sizes using the proposed method are examined by comparing the measured sizes in the field. The results show that the predictions using Kuz-Ram model with the proposed method coincide with field measurements, but Kuz-Ram model does not reflect the in-situ rock condition and hence needs to be improved.

This study is intended to investigate the geotechnical behavior of jointed mass on tunnel excavation experimentally. Laboratory test were conducted in various conditions of distance from joint to tunnel and in-situ stress ratio ($K_0$). In case, the ground around the tunnel that has the joint angle $90^{\circ}$ generate the greatest influence in crown and far shoulder from joint. If the in-situ stress ratio is low, tangential stress of side wall that is opposite side of the joint is increased more than in crown. Otherwise in case, joint angle $45^{\circ}$, the generated compress stress is found out that left side of the tunnel of near the joint has influence on stability of the tunnel about 3 times than non-jointed rock.

In this studys a numerical analysis on the defomation of foundation layer was carried out by indroducing joint element. The method using the joust element between adj assent different materials has been originally developed for rock behavior(Goodman, et al. 1968) . The application of this method to the interface between the footing and soil layer proved satisfactory(Ghaboussi p et at. 1973). Authors tried to obtain the deformation of rrcompound foundation layerg", which vertically or horizontally or both consists of the natural(or intact) soft clay layer and the layer improved artificially in order to get high stiff-fness with replacement or chemical treatment to reduce the excessively detrimental settlemellt or lateral displacement in case of banking or building the civil structure on the soft layer. The joint conditions were classified into three categories : contacts sliding and separation. By coupling "JOINT" as a subroutine into multi-purpose code for the finite element method of the foundatlion daveloped by authors on the assumption that shearing and normal displacement can not be coupledl which terms pinon-dilatant" and by selecting modified Cam-clay modeIP the deformation analysis was performmed. The results using joint element were compared with those secured without introduction of joint element Nain results analized are as follows : 1. For the prediction of settlement and lateral desplacement, the result due to joint element was evaluated larger, which was regarded safe. 2. For the determination of ultimate bearing capacetyi the value using joint element appeared smaller by 20%, which was also safe.
