This paper proposes an RBFN-based adaptive tracking controller for an electrically driven mobile robot with parametric uncertainties and external disturbances. A mobile robot model considered in this paper includes all models of the robot body and actuators with uncertain kinematic and dynamic parameters, and uncertain frictions and external disturbances. The proposed controller consists of an RBFN(Radial Basis Function Network) and a robust adaptive controller. The presented RBFN is used to approximate unknown nonlinear robot dynamic functions. The proposed controller is adjusted by the adaptation laws obtained through the Lyapunov stability analysis. The proposed control scheme does not a priori need the accurate knowledge of all parameters in the robot kinematics, robot dynamics and actuator dynamics. Also, nominal parameter values are not required in the controller. The global stability of the closed-loop robot control system is guaranteed using the Lyapunov stability theory. Simulation results show the validity and robustness of the proposed control scheme.
This paper presents hybrid control of an active suspension system with a full-car model by using H$\sub$$\infty$/ and nonlinear adaptive control methods. The full-car model has seven degrees of freedom including heaving, pitching and rolling motions. In the active suspension system, the controller shows good performance: small gains from the road disturbances to the heaving, pitching and rolling accelerations of the car body. Also the controlled system must be robust to system parameter variations. As the control method, H$\sub$$\infty$/ controller is designed so as to guarantee the robustness of a closed-loop system in the presence of uncertainties and disturbances. The system parameter variations are taken into account by multiplicative uncertainty model and the system robustness is guaranteed by small gain theorem. The active system with H$\sub$$\infty$/ controller can reduce the accelerations of the car body in the heaving, pitching and rolling directions. The nonlinearity of a hydraulic actuator is handled by nonlinear adaptive control based on the back-stepping method. The effectiveness of the controllers is verified through simulation results in both frequency and time domains.
In piezoelectric flexible structures, the contribution of vibration modes to the dynamic response of system may change with the location of piezoelectric actuator patches, which means that the ability of actuators to control vibration modes should be taken into account in the development of modal reduction model. The spatial $H_2$ norm of modes, which serves as a measure of the intensity of modes to system dynamical response, is used to pick up the modes included in the reduction model. Based on the reduction model, the paper develops the state-space representation for uncertain flexible tructures with piezoelectric material as non-collocated actuators/sensors in the modal space, taking into account uncertainties due to modal parameters variation and unmodeled residual modes. In order to suppress the vibration of the structure, a dynamic output feedback control law is designed by imultaneously considering the conflicting performance specifications, such as robust stability, transient response requirement, disturbance rejection, actuator saturation constraints. Based on linear matrix inequality, the vibration control design is converted into a linear convex optimization problem. The simulation results show how the influence of vibration modes on the dynamical response of structure varies with the location of piezoelectric actuators, why the uncertainties should be considered in the reductiom model to avoid exciting high-frequency modes in the non-collcated vibration control, and the possiblity that the conflicting performance specifications are dealt with simultaneously.

This paper presents design of the quantitative feedback control system of the three axes hydraulic road simulator with respect to the dummy wheel for uncertain multiple input-output(MIMO) feedback systems. This simulator has the uncertain parameters such as fluid compressibility, fluid leakage, electrical servo components and nonlinear mechanical connections. This works have reproduced the random input signal to implement the real road vibration's data in the lab. The replaced $m^2$ MISO equivalent control systems satisfied the design specifications of the original $m^*m$ MIMO control system and developed the mathematical method using quantitative feedback theory based on schauder's fixed point theorem. This control system illustrates a tracking performance of the closed-loop controller with low order transfer function G(s) and pre-filter F(s) having the minimum bandwidth for parameters of uncertain plant. The efficacy of the designed controller is verified through the dynamic simulation with combined hydraulic model and Adams simulator model. The Matlab simulation results to connect with Adams simulator model show that the proposed control technique works well under uncertain hydraulic plant system. The designed control system has satisfied robust performance with stability bounds, tracking bounds and disturbance. The Hydraulic road simulator consists of the specimen, hydraulic pump, servo valve, hydraulic actuator and its control equipments

This paper presents a hybrid system combining lead rubber bearings and hydraulic actuators controlled by a μ-synthesis method for seismic response control of a cable-stayed bridge. A hybrid system could alleviate some of restrictions and limitations that exist when each system is acting alone because multiple control devices are operating. Therefore, the overall control performance of a hybrid system may be improved compared to each system, however the overall system robustness may be negatively impacted by active device in the hybrid system or active controller may cause instability due to small margins. Therefore, a f-synthesis method that guarantees the robust performance is considered to enhance the possibility of real applications of the control system. The control performances of the proposed control system are compared with those of passive, active, semiactive control systems and hybrid system controlled by LQG algorithm and an extensive robust analysis with respect to stiffness and mass matrices perturbation and time delay of actuator is performed. Numerical simulation results show that the control performance of the proposed control system is superior to that of the passive system and slightly better than that of the active and semiactive systems and two hybrid systems show similar control performances. Furthermore, the hybrid system controlled by a μ-synthesis method shows the good robustness without loss of control performances. Therefore, the proposed control system could effectively be used to seismically excited cable-stayed bridge which contains many uncertainties.

In this paper, a robust path tracker and depth controller of Autonomous Underwater Vehicle based on sliding mode control is presented. We have also designed augmented equivalent control inputs by analyzing the sliding mode with the reaching mode. This can enhance the reaching rate, and improve chattering problems, that is, noise caused by the control plane actuator of the vehicle, which is one of the problems that occur when sliding mode control is used. Also to resolve the steady state error generated in the path tracker under current effect, a modified sliding plane is constructed. Also a redesigned sliding plane and control input using transformation matrix is proposed to do easy design of MIMO depth controller. For state variables that cannot be measured directly, reduced order sliding mode control is used to design an observer. The performance of designed path tracker and depth controller is investigated by computer simulation. The results show that the proposed control system has robust performance to parameter variation, modelling error and disturbance.

In general, the swing motion of the crane is controlled and suppressed by activating the trolley motion. In many papers reported by us, we suggested a new type of anti-sway control system of the crane. In the proposed control system, a small auxiliary mass(moving-mass) is installed on the spreader and the swing motion is controlled by moving the auxiliary mass. The actuator reaction against the auxiliary mass applies inertial control forces to the container in order to reduce the swing motion in the desired manner. The measuring system is based on laser sensor or others. However it is not so useful in real world. Especially, in this paper, the image sensor is used to measures the motions of the spreader and the measured data are fed back to the controller in real time. The applied image processing technique is a kind of robust template matching method which is named Vector Code Correlation (VCC) and devised to consider the real environmental conditions. And the $H_{\infty}$ based control technique is applied to suppress swing motion of the crane. And the experimental result shows that the proposed measurement system based on image sensor and control system is useful and robust to disturbances.

This paper proposes a robust balance and driving control for omni-directional ball robot(generally called ball-bot) with two axis mecanum wheel. Slip between ball and mecanum wheel actuator inevitably occurs along diagonal axis due to its instantaneous strong torque. In order to reduce and saturate slip, exact distance calculation scheme especially for rotational movement is essential. So this research solved Euler-Lagrange dynamics for proposed two axis ball robot based on practical mechanical modeling. Robust balance control was carried out by PID controller according to the pitch and roll angles of ball robot by using sensor fusion between AHRS and wheel encoder. Proposed PID controller enhances stability by reducing steady state error and settling time. Proposed slip control algorithm for omni-directional ball robot has been demonstrated by experiments for balance control and arbitrary driving control.

This paper presents a new approach to control of stable motion of single wheel driving robot system of a pitch that is controlled by an in-wheel motor and a roll that is controlled by a reaction wheel. This robot doesn'thave any actuator for a yaw axis control, which makes the derivation of the dynamics relatively simple. The Lagrange equations was applied to derive the dynamic equations of the one wheel driving robot to implement the dynamic speed control of the mobile robot. To achieve the real time speed control of the unicycle robot, the sliding mode control and optical regulator are utilized to prove the reliability while maintaining the desired speed tracking performance. In the roll controller, the sigmoid-function based robust controller has been adopted to reduce the vibration by the situation function. The optimal controller has been implemented for the pitch control to drive the unicycle robot to follow the desired velocity trajectory in real time using the state variables of pitch angle, angular velocity, angle and angular velocity of the driving wheel. The control performance of the control systems from a single dynamic model has been illustrated by the real experiments.

A robust high-speed motion controller is proposed. The proposed controller consists of the proximate time optimal servomechai는 (PTOD) for high-speed motion, disturbance observer (DOB) for robustness, friction compensator, and saturation handling element, In the proposed controller, DOB basically provides the chance to apply PTOS to non-double integrator systems by drastically reducing disturbances as well as unwanted signals due to difference between real system and the double integrator model. But, in DOB-based systems, if control input is saturated due to control input PTOS and/or DOB, overall system stability cannot be guaranteed. To solve this problem, ribust stability, when the control input is saturated. Eventually, a simple saturation handling element is inserted to maintain internal stability of overall system. Also, we explain the our two saturation handling methods, Additional Saturation Element (ASE_ and Self Adjusting Saturation (SAS), are the equivalent solutions of the saturation problem to maintain internal stability. The stability and performance of the proposed controller are verified through numerical simulations and experiments using a precision linear motor system.
