  • This paper focuses on congestion control for ATM network with uncertain time-variant delays. The time-variant delays can be distinguished into two distinct components. The first one that is represented by time-variant queueing delays in the intermediate switches is occurred in the return paths of RM cells. The next one is a forward path delay. It is solved by the VBR Model which quantifies the data propagation from the sources to the switch. Robust $H_{\infty}$ control is studied for solving congestion problem with norm-bounded time-varying uncertain parameters. The suitable robust $H_{\infty}$ controller is obtained from the solution of a convex optimization problem including terms of LMIs.

  • This paper presents a design method of dynamic positioning control system for floating platform with rotatable and retractable thruster using $H_{\infty}$ control technique. The norm band of uncertainty is captured by multiplicative perturbation between nominal model and reduced order model. A controller robust to the uncertainty is designed applying $H_{\infty}$ synthesis. The control law satisfying robust stabillity and nominal performance condition is determined through the mixed sensitivity approach. The evaluation for the resultant controller obtained by $H_{\infty}$ synthesis is done through simulations of the closed loop system. The results of $H_{\infty}$ synthesis are compared to those of the traditional LQ synthesis method.

  • This paper present a robust controller design method based on the estimation of velocity disturbance to construct a robust fine seek control system. A loop gain adjustment algorithm is introduced to accurately estimate the velocity disturbance in spite of the uncertainties of fine actuator. A weighting function is optimally selected from a minimum fine seek open-loop gain, calculated by estimating the velocity disturbance. A robust fine seek controller is designed by considering a robust $H_{\infty}$ control problem using the weighting function. The proposed controller design method is applied to the fine seek control system of a DVD rewritable drive and is evaluated through the experimental results.

  • This study describes a hydraulic fluid property compensator under the various operating conditions. Because hydraulic fluid systems have much more excellent features than other control systems, they are used in many fields. However, the characteristics of hydraulic fluid are changed due to various operating conditions. This phenomenon is called uncertainty. Especially, bulk modulus is considered as the most dominant parameter in this study. Under the wide range of temperature and pressure, bulk modulus is changed. In order to overcome the uncertainty, $H_{\infty}$ technique will be used for this study. Spectral factorization, model-matching problem and controller parametrization are also applied to achieve the desired robust control action. Designed controller using the $H_{\infty}$ technique, is adopted for the hydraulic fluid valve-motor system.

  • This paper deals with the problem of robust TDF(Two Degree of Freedom) H$_{\infty}$ control design for a linear system with parameter uncertainty in the state space model. The uncertain system considered here is with the time-invariant norm-bounded parameter uncertainty in the state matrix. A TDF H$_{\infty}$ control design is presented which robustly stabilizes the plant, guarantees the robust H$_{\infty}$ performance and improves the tracking performance for the closed-loop system in the face of parameter uncertainty. It is shwon that a suitable stabilizing control law can be constructed in terms of a positive definite solution to a certain parameter-dependent algebraic Riccati equation and a good tracking performance can be constructed in terms of suitable feedforward control law.aw.

  • This paper presents a simulation study using a robust controller to improve the roll stability of a vehicle. The controller is designed in the framework of an output feedback H$_{\infty}$ control scheme based on the 3DOF linear vehicle model, solving the mixed-sensitivity problem to guarantee the robust stability and disturbance rejection with respect to parameter variations due to laden and running vehicle conditions. In order to investigate the feasibility of the active roll control system in a real car, its performance is evaluated by simulation in a 10DOF full vehicle model with actuator dynamics and tire characteristics.

안정적인 조동 검색을 위한 강인 트랙 추종 제어 (A Robust Track-following Control for the Stable Coarse Seek)

  • In this paper, we provide a robust track-following controller design method for the stable coarse seek control. Due to the inaccurate velocity control during a coarse seek, the shake of fine actuator is generated and thus a gain-up track-following control is required to complete stably the coarse seek. To this end, a loop gain adjustment algorithm is introduced to estimate accurately the shake of fine actuator. A weighting function can be properly selected from a minimum tracking gain-up open-loop gain, calculated from the estimated shake quantity of fine actuator. A robust tracking gain-up controller is designed by considering a robust $H_{\infty}$ control problem using the weighting function. The proposed design method is applied to the coarse seek control system of an optical rewritable drive and is evaluated through the experimental results.

  • In this paper, we suggest a H center .inf. generalized predictive control(H center GPC) which guarantees $H_{\infty}$-norm bounds. THe suggested control is obtained by solving the min-max problem in nonrecursive forms. The stability conditions of the suggested control are derived in a somewhat simple form and it is not required for the derived solution to be a saddle point solution. It is also shown that the suggested control guarantees the $H_{\infty}$-norm bounds under the same conditions of stability.

  • It is a standard problem that designs a controller to minimize the $H_{\infty}$-norm of a given plant. By reducing a standard problem to a model-matching problem, we can obtain all the parameters which consist of a controller. After presenting a practical model and applying it to a tracking model, we design an $H_{\infty}$ controller and an LQ controller to concrete that $H_{\infty}$ control theory is far more robust than LQ control theory. And we show the advantage of an $H_{\infty}$ controller by obtaining a desired Bode diagram and comparing it with that of an LQ controller.
