A prototype integrated system and its theories for distributed SISO control structure synthesis of complete chemical plants is developed. The scope of this work includes control structure synthesis not only of simple units with unspecified control loops but also of the complex process at preliminary and basic design stage. Hierarchical approach and dual-decomposition strategy (that is multi-layer decomposition and multi-echelon decomposition) is applied to this system. Because automatic control structure synthesis of complex plants is a problem defined as a series of knowledge-intensive tasks within multiple spaces, the established methodology is complemented by not only techniques from knowledge-based expert systems but also shortcut and rigorous control theories. This system is used for education of control designers, process engineers, operators and students as well as for operability studying, in-line and on-line process control structure synthesis.

The fourth industrial revolution is currently proceeding and is expected to significantly affect the way individuals live and in result change the society in various aspects. The ICT-based convergence industries of the fourth industrial revolution contain various fields such as driverless cars, lighter and tougher materials, robotics, 3D printing and even biotechnology. This paper examines the researches done in fourth industrial revolution field based on the articles submitted to APIC-IST 2015. The topics from articles related to the fourth industrial revolution were categorized based on the keyword frequency of main issues. Results suggested that IoT and Wireless sensor network related researches were among the fields that the most researches were done in it and topics like nanotechnology, biotechnology, driverless cars, sharing economy and 3D printing were not mentioned at all. This paper also suggests necessary contents in the fourth industrial revolution to be focused on for further research in this field.

This paper has shown that the impulse and the unit step responses of 2nd-order systems can be computed by an analytic method. Three different 2nd-order systems are investigated: the prototype system, the system with one LHP(left half plane) real zero and the system with one RHP(right half plane) real zero. It has also shown that the effects of the LHP or the RHP zero are very serious when the zero is getting closer to the origin on the complex plane. Based on these analytic results, this paper has presented two sufficient and necessary conditions for 2nd-order linear SISO(single-input/single-output) stable systems to have the nonovershooting and the monotone nondecreasing step response, respectively. The latter condition can be extended to the sufficient conditions for the monotone nondecreasing step response of high-order systems.
Since the heat exchange system, such as the boiler of power plant, gas turbine, and radiator require an application of intelligent control system for a high rate heat efficiency and the efficiency of these systems is depended on the control methods it is important for operator to understand control system of these systems and intelligent control technologies. In order to properly apply control equipment and intelligent technology to these process control systems, it is necessary to understand fuzzy, neural network, genetics, and immune as well as the basic aspects and operation principle of the process that relate control, interrelationships of the process characteristics, and the dynamics that are involved. Generally, since PID controllers are used in these systems it is difficult far engineer to understand both the complex dynamics and the intelligent control method. In this paper, we design an effective experimental system for the intelligent control education and analyze its characteristics through experimental system and each intelligent method to study how they can learn intelligent control system by experiments.

E-learning is a new teaching model nowadays, and Virtual Reality (VR) technology is reported that the use of virtual reality as an education tool can increase student interests, understanding, and creative learning because of encouraging students to learn by exploring and interacting with the information on the virtual environment. Besides that, LEGOs have long been the favorite of many children. LEGOs provide a mechanism to understand and do for many concepts from spatial relationships to robotics platforms. In this paper, we present a virtual reality application based on the assembly of LEGO-Like bricks to increase math and science learning by improving spatial thinking. It not only encourages students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics but also enhances learner's ability to analyze and solve problems. The application is built by Processing 2.0 as the easier programming language which is a top-down approach to build the 3D interactive program.

This paper presents a systematic method of estimating a velocity disturbance occurring in the fine seek control system of an optical disk drive. A fine seek loop gain adjustment algorithm is introduced to accurately estimate the velocity disturbance in spite of the uncertainties of the fine actuator. The velocity disturbance can be estimated from a measurable velocity, a fine seek controller output, and a compensated fine actuator model. A robust fine seek controller can be designed by considering a minimum fine seek open-loop gain, calculated by the estimated velocity disturbance. The proposed controller design method is applied to the fine seek control system of a DVD rewritable drive and is evaluated through the experimental results.
The paper reports about methodology at design of interactive e-learning modules that are suitable both for teaching and learning. They cover special topics of electrical engineering, starting from the fundamentals, through electrical machines, power electronics to the fields of controlled electromechanical energy conversion, like electrical drives, complex drive systems, application of drives, mechatronic systems, telemanipulation, and robotics. In the paper, the emphasis is devoted in detail to philosophy and realization of the modules from fields of Power Electronics and Electrical Drives. On several examples there are explained main principles and specialties at their development.

EtherCAT is an Ethernet-based fieldbus system standardized in IEC 61158 and SEMI, and widely used in the fields of factory automation, semiconductor equipment and robotics. In this paper, a real-time EtherCAT master is implemented on Linux operating systems and its performances are evaluated. To enhance the real-time capability of mainline Linux kernel, Xenomai is applied as a real-time framework and an open source EtherCAT master stack, Simple Open EtherCAT Master (SOEM), is installed on it. Unlike other studies, the real-time performance of the EtherCAT master is evaluated at the output of the network interface card, so that the evaluation results include all possible effects from the EtherCAT master system. The implemented EtherCAT master can send and receive packets up to 20KHz control frequency with low jitter, even in stressed condition.

MSRDS(Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio) provides the ability to simulate these technologies. SPL(Simple Programming Language) of MSRDS provides many functions for sensor programming to control autonomous robots. Sensor programming in SPL can be implemented in two types of schemes: procedure sensor notification and while-loop schemes. We considered the three programming schemes to control the robot movement after studying the advantages and disadvantages of the sensor notification procedure and the while-loop scheme. We also created simulation environments to evaluate the performance of the three considered schemes when applied to four different mazes. The simulation environment consisted of a maze and a robot with the most powerful sensor, i.e., the LRF(Laser Range Finder) sensor. We measured the required travel time and robot actions (number of turns and number of collisions) needed to escape the maze and compared the performance outcomes of the three considered schemes in the four different mazes.
