Nearest Neighbor Query Processing in the Mobile Environment

  • In the mobile environment, according to the movement of the object, the query finds the nearest special object or place from object position. However, because query object moves continuously in the mobile environment, query demand changes according to the direction attribute of query object. Also, in the case of moving of query object and simply the minimum distance value of query result, sometimes we find the result against the query object direction. Especially, in most road condition, as user has to return after reaching U-turn area, user rather spends time and cost. Therefore, in order to solve those problems, in this paper we propose the nearest neighbor method considering moving object position and direction for mobile recommendation system.

  • This paper describes a self-localization method for the mobile robot using panoramic view images. A panoramic view image has the information of location of the objects from the viewer robot and direction between the objects at a position. Among the sequence of panoramic view images, the target objects in the image like traffic signs, facade of a building, road signs, etc. locate in the real world so that robot´s position and direction deliver to localize from his view. With the previously captured panoramic images, the method calculates the distance and direction of the region of interest, corresponds the regions between the sequences, and identifies the location in the world.   • To analyze and predict crack initiation position and propagation directions on the spot welded area are very important for strength design of the automobile body structure. It is necessary to test by method considering random loads with variable amplitude for strength design of vehicle body structure, because driving cars are actually subjected to random loads with variable amplitude in the road. Although this condition, nearly all tests haute been performed under constant load conditions in the laboratory because it is impossible to replay like an actual conditions. In this study, using in-plane bending type specimens, the overload factor affecting on the fatigue strength, crack initiation and propagation directions of spot-welded specimens have been studied.

  • This paper shows a feasibility analysis results on RFID for car positioning system. Usually, a car navigation is mainly based on GPS combined with map-matching. However, in the case of poor visibility of satellites, GPS can not supply accurate position information continuously. In recent years, RFID has been considered to be one of key technologies in positioning and localization area. But its application and research results in the area of vehicular positioning are not popular. RFID system consists of tag, reader, antenna and software such as drivers and middleware. The main function of RFID system in a vehicular positioning is to retrieve ID recorded position information from tags which set on the center of road. We propose a positioning method for vehicles using RFID and we present some indoor and outdoor experiment results to show that the proposed method is available in vehicle operational environments.

  • Among durability tests, the accelerated durability test has been widely used to evaluate the durability of vehicle structure and chassis pans in a shon period of time on the designed road which has severe surface conditions. However it increases the drivers fatigue mainly caused by the severe driving conditions. The drivers difficulty of maintaining constant speed and controlling the steering wheel reduces the reliability of test results. The durability test includes the position and distance sensing system for the recognition of the absolute and relative driving position, the driving control system for the control of whole driving circumstance, the emergency system for responding to system errors. AGVDS (Autonomous Guided Vehicle Driving System) was Proved to facilitate the development of now car projects. Therefore the AGVDS we propose will help make the fundamentals for all future traffic systems.

Simulation of Vehicle Steering Control through Differential Braking

  • This paper examines the usefulness of a Brake Steer System(BSS), which uses differential brake forces for steering intervention in the context of Intelligent Transportation Systems(ITS). In order to help the car to turn, a yaw moment control was achieved by altering the left/right and front/rear brake distribution. This resulting yaw moment on the vehicle affects lateral position thereby providing a limited steering function. The steering function achieved through BSS was used to control lateral position in an unintended road departure system. A 8-DOF nonlinear vehicle model including STI tire model was validated using the equations of motion of the vehicle. Then a controller was developed. This controller, which is a PID controller tuned by Ziegler-Nichols, is designed to explore BSS feasibility by modifying the brake distribution through the control of the yaw rate of the vehicle.

  • The friction and wear of tire determined by frictional behavior of tire tread that translate driving force, cornering force and braking force between automobile and road as a result of frictional behavior of each tread block. The tire tread block is representative case of rubber block doing frictional behavior. In this paper, frictional behavior of rubber block under compressive force and shear force was analytically obtained by using slip starting position parameter instead of friction coefficient which is uncertain to express exact value between rubber and other surfaces yet. And local coefficients of friction were calculated as a function of compressive force, shear force, shear modulus of rubber, shape factor and slip starting position.

  • The Korea Railroad Research Institute (KRRI) is developing the Bimodal-tram. The vehicle has a navigation control system (NCS) for automatic driving. The vehicle has to follow a reference path in automatic mode. NCS uses magnetic markers to calculate the vehicle position. The vehicle lane is marked with permanent magnets that are buried in the road. In this purpose, we show the characteristics and the configuration of NCS.

  • 임도(林道)는 산림자원(山林資源) 조성(造成) 및 벌출작업(伐出作業) 등(等) 산림(山林)의 운영관리면(運營管理面)에서는 물론이고 일반인(一般人)의 보건휴양(保健休養)과 관광(觀光), 그리고 공도(公道) 기능면(機能面)에서도 임도설치(林道設置)가 절실히 요구(要求)된다. 따라서 본(本) 연구(硏究)는 강원도(江原道)의 국유림(國有林) 4개소(個所)와 전라북도(全羅北道)의 송유림(私有林) 4개소(個所)의 기설(旣設) 임도(林道)에 대하여 산림(山林)의 몇 가지 요인별(要因別) 설치효과(設置效果)를 분석(分析)하여 산림(山林)의 다각적(多角的)인 기능(機能) 제고(提高)를 위한 임도(林道)의 개설유형(開設類型)을 제시(提示)코자 분석(分析)한 결과(結果)는 다음과 같다. 1. 지형적(地形的) 요인(要因)과 지역사회적(地域社會的) 요인(要因)이 양호(良好)한 지역(地域)에서 투자효율(投資效率)이 높게 나타났고, 산림실태적(山林實態的) 요인(要因)과 임도구조적(林道構造的) 요인(要因)이 양호(良好)한 지역(地域)에서 투자효율(投資效率)이 낮게 나타났다. 이는 현재(現在)의 산림실태(山林實態)를 감안할 때 임업이외(林業以外)의 이용(利用)에 큰 비중(比重)을 두고 임도(林道)를 설치(設置)한 것으로 생각되어 금후(今後) 지형적(地形的) 요인(要因)이 불리한 지역(地域)에는 '산지자원화형(山地資源化型)'의 임도(林道)를, 산림실태적(山林實態的) 요인(要因)이 양호(良好)한 지역(地域)에는 '산지이용형(山地利用型)'의 임도(林道)를 설치(設置)해야 개설효과(開設效果)를 증대(增大)시킬 수 있을 것이다. 2. 효과적(效果的)인 임도(林道)를 개설(開設)하기 위해서 다목적(多目的)으로 이용(利用)할 수 있는 노선(路線)을 선정(選定)하되, 제반요인(諸般要因)에 의해서 분석(分析)한 종합평가(綜合平價) 점수(點數)가 높은 지역(地域)에 우선 설치(設置)하므로써 개설효과(開設效果)를 더욱 증대(增大)시킬 수 있을 것이다. 3. 임도(林道)의 유형구분(類型區分)은 산림실태적(山林實態的) 요인비(要因比)와 임도구조적(林道構造的) 요인비(要因比)가 60% 이상인 지역(地域)은 '산지이용형(山地利用型)', 산림실태적(山林實態的) 요인비(要因比)를 비롯한 모든 요인비(要因比)가 60% 이하인 지역(地域)은 '산지자원화형(山地資源化型)', 지형적(地形的) 요인비(要因比)와 임도구조적(林道構造的) 요인비(要因比) 및 지역사회적(地域社會的) 요인비(要因比)가 60% 이상인 지역(地域)은 '지역개선형(地域改善型)', 지형적(地形的) 요인비(要因比)를 비롯한 모든 요인비(要因比)가 60% 이상인 지역(地域)은 '보건휴양형(保健休養型)', 그리고 지역사회적(池域社會的) 요인비(要因比)와 산림실태적(山林實態的) 요인비(要因比)가 60% 이상인 지역(地域)은 '복합개발형(複合開發型)' 등(等)으로 구분(區分)하여 특징(特徵)있는 임도(林道)를 개발(開發)하는 것이 합리적(合理的)일 것이다.
