For the reliable delivery of safety-related information to vehicles in the VANET, a reliable VANET routing protocol is required. In this paper, we propose a routing protocol that works based on the road vehicle density information for fast and reliable communications among vehicles within the city environment VANET. In the proposed mechanism, each vehicle computes the road vehicle density by using beacon messages and the road information. Based on the road vehicle density information, each vehicle establishes a reliable route for packet delivery. Through the NS-2 based simulations, we compare our proposed mechanism with GPSR and show that our mechanism outperforms GPSR in terms of packet delivery success rate.
PURPOSES : Road lighting facilities increase the visibility of road at night in order to improve traffic driver safety and comfort. Generally speaking, current pole lighting has a tendency to create problems of glare and flicker. The phenomenon of glare gives discomfort due to increase of scattered light, when high luminance is in driver's field of view. The phenomenon of flicker occurs due to the driver passing through discontinuous pockets of pole lighting areas. These phenomenon increase eye strain and decrease driver safety. METHODS : Low height line lighting that distributes light lower than driver's eye level has been developed and evaluated to reduce the problems linked to current pole lighting. A test was undertaken with 4 conditions(turn on the general pole lighting, turn off alternate pole lighting, turn on the line lighting and line lighting with 50% dimming). A driver written survey was conducted in order to gain driver feedback. RESULTS : Pupil size and brow frequency compared with degree in pole lighting are reduced. CONCLUSIONS : Low height line lighting environment makes drivers more comfortable than pole lighting environment and is positive lighting method in the energy saving and landscape aspect.
The influence of the visual information on the sound perception would be considerable. Furthermore, if the sound perception ranges in noisiness or annoyance beyond the loudness, it will depend much more on the shape of the visual information. This paper aims to estimate the influence of the several kinds of visual information on the perception of road traffic noise by means of the psycho-acoustic test method. The findings of present study on the influence of visual information on subjective noise perception are summarized as follows: Presenting visual images of mild and comfortable scenery reduced the noise perception reaction at the less noisy environments not exceeding 65 dB(A). At highly noisy environments exceeding 65 dB(A), however, the noise perception can be reduced by strong image of waterfall. Even eliminating the road traffic image may be helpful. Visual image of waterfall reduced the noise perception at all levels. It is inferred that the road traffic noise perception can be effectively ameliorated by presenting strong and real landscape images at any noisy environment.
PURPOSES: This study is to investigate the consideration which relates with a disaster from route alignment process and proposed the method it will be able to evaluate a disaster danger fixed quantity. METHODS: Use the landslide disaster probabilistic map of GIS based and in about landslide occurrence of the route alignment at the time of neighboring area after evaluating a risk fixed quantity, it compared LCC expense in about each alternative route. It developed the system it will be able to analyze a LCC and a disaster risk in about the alternative route. In order to verify a risk analytical algorithm and the system which are developed it selected national road 59 lines on the demonstrative route and it analyzed a disaster risk. RESULTS: Demonstrative route not only the disaster risk to be it will be able to compare a disaster risk fixed quantity like the economical efficiency degree in compliance with LCC expense productions it compared and there being the designer will be able to decide the alternative route, it confirmed. CONCLUSIONS: Roads can be designed by considering occurs repeatedly landslides and debris flow caused by disasters in advance and expect to be able to effect that can reduce the overall cost to recover losses caused by the disaster, and temporally loss is expected.
PURPOSES : This study suggests the application of glow line marking technology for reducing traffic accidents at nighttime. METHODS : In this study, using a statistical analysis, we analyzed the characteristics of traffic accidents occurring at nighttime. Next, the strength, weakness, opportunity, and threat (SWOT) factors were derived based on a current-status analysis of glow line marking technology and road environments. An SO strategy, ST strategy, WO strategy, and WT strategy were established in accordance with the four SWOT factors. RESULTS : This study suggests that the following strategies should be promoted to apply glow line marking technology to a road environment: 1) an activation strategy for the technological development of glow line markings for a new paradigm in reducing traffic accidents, 2) a benefit enhancement strategy applying glow line marking technology in places where nighttime traffic accidents frequently occur, 3) a strategy for the expansion of glow line marking by replacing streetlights, and 4) a strategy for enhancing road applications through the development of various line marking methods in consideration of both performance and costs. CONCLUSIONS : The application of glow line markings in a road environment can contribute to a reduction of traffic accidents at nighttime, and aid energy savings from the replacement of streetlights.
The application of a 3-d noise prediction model is increasing as a tool for performing actual noise assessment in order to investigate the noise impact of the residential facility around a development region. However, because the appropriate plans of applying a 3-d noise prediction model is insufficient, it is important to secure the reliability of the noise prediction results generated by a 3-d noise prediction model. Therefore, this study is focused on examining a 3-d noise prediction model, and a prediction equation and input data in it. For this, the 3-d noise prediction models such as SoundPLAN, Cadna-A, IMMI is applied in road noise. After the contents of road noise equations, input data of road noise source, and input data of road noise barrier are understood, the road noise prediction results are compared and examined according to the variation of 3-d noise prediction model, road noise equation, and input data of road noise source and road noise barrier.
Mobile sources produce a significant fraction of total anthropogenic emissions in Korea and have harmful effects on air quality. Mobile emissions are intrinsically difficult to estimate due to complicated road networks and variations of traffic volume with location and time. To measure traffic pollutants with high temporal and spatial resolution under real conditions a mobile laboratory was designed. The mobile laboratory provide concentrations of $SO_2$, CO, NO, $NO_2$ and location coordinate value. This approach allowed for pollutant level measurements on many roads within short periods of time. In this study, on-road concentrations of $SO_2$, CO, NO and $NO_2$ were measured using mobile platform measurement along the 25 main roads in Busan to estimate the average air pollution level in short time difference. The measurements were conducted on favorable meteorological days from 2010 to 2012 and the overall concentrations of $SO_2$, CO, NO and $NO_2$ were 0.006, 0.8, 0.182 and 0.055 ppm respectively. The result showed that the concentration of CO, NO and $NO_2$ on road were twice, 18 times and 2.5 times higher than regional air quality monitoring sites mean in same period.
Objectives: The purpose of this study is to introduce the establishment process and results of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's road map on environmental health policy. Methods: The process consisted of expert group meetings, civic participation, research, and questionnaire survey for priority environmental health policy agenda items in Seoul. Results: The announced vision for the environmental health policy was "a healthy environment, safety in Seoul". This policy was established in order to define environment health policy initiatives for a period of five years with an aim to protect Seoul citizens' health from hazardous environmental factors. The resulting Seoul environmental health policy consisted of four areas and 16 key agenda items. The four areas were "Protection for children against hazardous materials", "Enhancement of health and safety of all", "Carcinogen-free and endocrine-disrupting chemical-free Seoul (reducing environmental exposure to hazardous materials), and "Establish the foundation of environmental health policy". Sixteen key agenda items include the enhancement of management of spaces for children, certification of environmental health status at schools, establishment of a unit responsible for the environmental health of children, strengthening environmental health management for susceptible populations (children, the aged, and the socioeconomically vulnerable), management of hazardous materials, physical hazardous factors (noise, radiation, etc.), indoor air quality, and the enhancement of monitoring, research, and regulation of environment health. Conclusion: The Seoul Metropolitan Government established an environmental health policy road map for a five-year period (2013-2017). To implement this environmental health policy, budget allocation, and detailed execution plans are required.
