  • Smoke is one of the most critical factor when escaping from the fire since it reduces visibility and interrupts finding emergency exit lights. Therefore, it is recommended that an evacuation simulation program should incorporate the smoke factor. In addition, it is suggested that the program should include not only the unilateral damage by the smoke but also the detour evacuation by risk communication. In this study, MAS (Multi Agent System)-based simulation program which incorporates the reduced walking speed by smoke and adopts the dispersion evacuation logic during escaping from the fire. To make comparison, a commercial evacuation program, Pathfinder was used. It was found that the simulation results of MAS (Multi Agent System)-based program is better than Pathfinder in terms of safe evacuation. It means that evacuation simulation need a additional evaluation categories that include not only quick evacuation time but also safe evacuee number.

  • In the smart intelligence information society, there is a possibility that the social dysfunction such as the personal information protection issue and the risk to the electronic surveillance society may be highlighted. In this paper, we refer to various categories and classify electronic surveillance into audio surveillance, visual surveillance, location surveillance, biometric information surveillance, and data surveillance. In order to respond to new electronic surveillance in the intelligent information society, it requires a change of perception that is different from that of the past. This starts with the importance of digital privacy and results in the right to self-determination of personal information. Therefore, in order to preemptively respond to the dysfunctions that may arise in the intelligent information society, it is necessary to further raise the awareness of the civil society to protect information human rights.

  • In addition to enabling access, database accounts play a protective role by defending the database from external attacks. However, because only a single account is used in the database, the account becomes the subject of vulnerability attacks. This common practice is due to the lack of database support, large numbers of users, and row-based database permissions. Therefore if the logic of the application is wrong or vulnerable, there is a risk of exposing the entire database. In this paper, we propose a Least-Privilege Account Separation Model (LPASM) that serves as an information guardian to protect the database from attacks. We separate database accounts depending on the role of application services. This model can protect the database from malicious attacks and prevent damage caused by privilege escalation by an attacker. We classify the account control policies into four categories and propose detailed roles and operating plans for each account.

  • Optimum performance and reliable operation of wind turbines and/or wind farms are crucial parameters for stakeholders such as OEMs, operators, owners and investors. The efficiency and life time of wind power heavily depends on operation and maintenance efforts. Every manufacturer or owner wants to have wind turbines with high reliability, which can be defined as the probability that a wind turbine will perform its designed function for a certain period of time under stated conditions. In this regard, IEC WG26 is now developing a technical specification defining information categories from which reliability metrics can be identified and reported.

  • Mobile social networking applications are getting increasingly popular among today's mobile applications. Mobile users find their old or new friends anywhere or anytime through mobile social network (MSN) services. MSN uses matchmaking mechanisms to discover mutual interests among different people. To discover friends in MSN, a user must share his/her private information which can be a risk for his/her personal privacy as this information can be learned by a malicious or semi honest user. In this paper we give a brief survey on MSN that includes MSN categories, components, architecture and applications. In the rest of the paper we discuss the matchmaking protocols. Finally we give some suggestions to improve the previous protocols.

  • In general, a number of severe accident scenarios derived from Level 2 probabilistic safety assessment (PSA) are typically grouped into several categories to efficiently evaluate their potential impacts on the public with the assumption that scenarios within the same group have similar source term characteristics. To date, however, grouping by similar source terms has been completely reliant on qualitative methods such as logical trees or expert judgements. Recently, an exhaustive simulation approach has been developed to provide quantitative information on the source terms of a large number of severe accident scenarios. With this motivation, this paper proposes a machine learning-based categorization method based on exhaustive simulation for grouping scenarios with similar accident consequences. The proposed method employs clustering with an autoencoder for grouping unlabeled scenarios after dimensionality reductions and feature extractions from the source term data. To validate the suggested method, source term data for 658 severe accident scenarios were used. Results confirmed that the proposed method successfully characterized the severe accident scenarios with similar behavior more precisely than the conventional grouping method.

  • Although issuing change orders is a common practice in the construction phase of any project, non-structural utility subcontractors are struggling and seek to find a way to reduce change orders. Therefore, this paper presents the analysis results on change orders to cultivate possible suggestions and solutions on how to reduce or minimize change orders in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) works. Change orders in non-structural utility works are analyzed based on six categories such as rerouting and change of location, changes in weight, rejected design by Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development, District Structural Engineer, or the Structural Engineer of Record, unforeseen conditions, changed equipment, and owner-initiated change. The analysis findings showed that rerouting and changing location is the most significant cause, followed by unforeseen conditions. The results not only contribute to the existing body of knowledge on change order research area, but also help MEP contractors reduce the time and cost of change orders.

  • The strong column-weak beam (SCWB) moment ratio is specified in AISC 341 to prevent an abrupt column sway in steel special moment frames (SMFs) during earthquakes. Even when the SCWB requirement is satisfied for an SMF, a column-sway can develop in the SMF. This is because the contribution of the composite beam action developed in the concrete floor slab and its supporting beams was not included while calculating the SCWB moment ratio. In this study, we developed a new method for calculating the SCWB moment ratio that included the contribution of composite beam action. We evaluated the seismic collapse performance of the SMFs considering various risk categories and building heights. We demonstrated that the collapse performance of the SMFs was significantly improved by using the proposed SCWB equation that also satisfied the target performance specified in ASCE 7.

  • Background and Objectives: Concerns remain that early aspirin cessation may be associated with potential harm in subsets at high risk of ischemic events. This study aimed to assess the effects of P2Y12 inhibitor monotherapy after 3-month dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) vs. prolonged DAPT (12-month or longer) based on the ischemic risk stratification, the CHADS-P2A2RC, after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Methods: This was a sub-study of the SMART-CHOICE trial. The effect of the randomized antiplatelet strategies was assessed across 3 CHADS-P2A2RC risk score categories. The primary outcome was a major adverse cardiac and cerebral event (MACCE), a composite of all-cause death, myocardial infarction, or stroke. Results: Up to 3 years, the high CHADS-P2A2RC risk score group had the highest incidence of MACCE (105 [12.1%], adjusted hazard ratio [HR], 2.927; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.358-6.309; p=0.006) followed by moderate-risk (40 [1.4%], adjusted HR, 1.786; 95% CI, 0.868-3.674; p=0.115) and low-risk (9 [0.5%], reference). In secondary analyses, P2Y12 inhibitor monotherapy reduced the Bleeding Academic Research Consortium (BARC) types 2, 3, or 5 bleeding without increasing the risk of MACCE as compared with prolonged DAPT across the 3 CHADS-P2A2RC risk strata without significant interaction term (interaction p for MACCE=0.705 and interaction p for BARC types 2, 3, or 5 bleeding=0.055). Conclusions: The CHADS-P2A2RC risk score is valuable in discriminating high-ischemic-risk patients. Even in such patients with a high risk of ischemic events, P2Y12 inhibitor monotherapy was associated with a lower incidence of bleeding without increased risk of ischemic events compared with prolonged DAPT.
