  • Through literary research, this study aims to study chinese characters in the Chosun Dynasty from the perspective of international exchange. While sorting out the historical materials, it investigates the implementation organ, educational content and main characteristics of Chinese education in the Chosun Dynasty, its influence on the Korean peninsula at that time and Its enlightenment to today's Chinese international education. The results show that the Chinese language education institutions in the Chosun Dynasty mainly played the role of Chinese language education in the Si service academy and the Sheng Wen Academy. The contents of Chinese language education mainly include the development of oral Chinese teaching materials, the publication of rhymes and other reference books, the compilation of dictionaries and the training of Chinese translators. Through the in-depth study of Chinese rhymes, the Korean Peninsula created its own Korean national character in 1443, getting rid of the will of Chinese characters. The invention of Korean language has greatly encouraged the political, economic and cultural development of the Korean peninsula. In addition, the Chinese language education in the Chosun Dynasty provides a good experience for today's Chinese international education in China.

  • The purpose of this study was to provide preliminary data on the acoustical differences of one syllable words spoken by speakers with different language backgrounds. 20 native speakers of Korean and English were asked to read 7 one-syllable words written in their native language. The phonetic and phonemic characteristics of 7 words were similar between two languages. The ratio of duration of the body (onset+nucleus) and the rhyme(nucleus+coda) relative to the duration of each syllable were calculated using CSL (Computerized Speech Laboratory). The results corresponds to the body-coda structure of the Korean syllable which is supported by the recent experimental psychological studies. More acoustic studies on the Korean syllable structure are required to establish clinical foundation for the phonological awareness and the reading intervention programs.

  • This study analyzed the contents of reading textbooks of Chinese-Korean $1^{st}$, $4^{th}$, and $7^{th}$ graders in Yanji, China with reference to ecological systems and values. Results showed that the literature genre of Korean textbooks in China was predominantly novels/stories(38.5%) rather than essays(13.7%), poems/verses/rhymes(16.2%) or others(31.6%). Characters were classified into 9 categories and analyzed by Bronfenbrenner's ecological paradigm. It was found that Chinese-Korean textbooks included more characters belonging to exo- or macro-systems including school, community, and government while Korean textbooks emphasized the self or the family, both belonging to the micro-system. Values in Chinese-Korean textbooks emphasized community and government. Korean textbooks emphasized individual life. Differences were more pronounced in textbooks of the upper grades.
