  • In this paper, the implementation of a production control system based on RFID has been studied in order to obtain an exact Cost Center data such as the name of workers included a process of work and a time period to finish the process. The cost center of a worker will be correctly obtained by checking the work time using RFID tag data and by transmitting the data to a server of ERP or POP system. And also warming up time, cleaning time, power failure, and out of order sign will be checked and calculated using the data stored in RFID tags attached in workers and machine facilities. Therefore, exact Cost Center data will be obtained by the production control system with touch screens entering the data according to the situation in real time.

  • The current blood control system is using barcode and scanning one by one to manage blood bags. To have better management and accuracy, an RFID BIS (blood information system) is implemented with an UHF RFID tag antenna using a reflecter for a blood bag has been used.. The UHF RFID tag for blood bag, attached on the high permittivity blood, is designed and fabricated. The tag antenna is optimized and fabricated with the simulation tests such as the existence and nonexistence of the reflector, various distance between the reflector and the dipole tag, the different widths of the reflector and the existence and nonexistence of the T-matching structure. The characteristics and the reading range patterns of the tag antennas are measured. The BIS is implemented with the new tag design.

  • A long range UHF RFID tag with a rectangular metallic cavity structure is proposed for various applications with metallic objects. The proposed tag consists of a rectangular metallic cavity structure and a folded dipole antenna which is located on top of the cavity. The tag is designed for Korean UHF RFID band(910~914 MHz) and the bandwidth, which satisfies the -10 dB input reflection coefficient requirement, is approximately 1.3 %(904~916 MHz). Measurement demonstrates that the proposed tag shows long reading range up to 15 m when it is placed on a metallic plate.

  • We have studied on the possibility of railway stability system using RFID tag. UHF RFID tag was desinged, manufactured and tested. Proposed UHF tag antenna has PIFA type structure and inset feed multi matching technique was attempted for impedance matching of antenna. The impedance bandwidth (VSWR < 3) of the proposed tag antenna covers 917~923 MHz. Measured peak gain is 3.225 dBi and UHF band with an omni-directional radiation pattern. RFID reader and tag installed in motor car and track, respectively. Then, tag recognition rate according to velocity of car (under 45 km/h) represented 100 %.

  • The problem of privacy is considered one of the main concerns to deploy RFID applications. In this paper, we propose methods to change a tag state and assign a master leader for the protection of privacy. By changing a tag state, we can limit the range for the information retrieval of the tag to all leaders or a specific leader (mater leader). Whenever the owner of a tag changes, with the master leader assignment method for the tag, we can make only the master leader get the information for the tag. With the proposed methods, it is expected that the privacy problems can be solved by preventing the private information of tags that persons have from being exposed by illegal leaders.

  • We propose a method to protect the tag's information from illegal reader in RFID system. In this method, a special tag called ownership tag makes intentionally collisions during singulation. By the forced collision of an ownership tag a reader can obtain the information of ordinary tags. Whereas a reader can not find my information on tag's ID without the ownership tag.

  • This study, in particular, aims to regulate the core techniques of ubiquitous computing, such as the use of an ad hoc network and the smart-tag technique, and to look more closely into RFID Tag's smart-tag-related security service. The study aims to do so because several important technical factors and structures must be taken into account for RFID Tag to be applied in the ubiquitous-computing-related infrastructure, and the security of the tag is considered one of the core technologies. To realize secure ubiquitous computing in the case of the Passive-tag-Performing RF communication, a less costly security service, the technical items needed to carry this out, a security service to be applied to passive tags, and network management techniques are required. Therefore, the passive-tag-based networks as the authentication level is established based on the secure authentication of each tag and the service that the tag delivers in the passive-tag-based networks and as the same service and authentication levels are applied, and the active-tag-based network system proposed herein is not merely a security service against illegal RFID tags by performing a current-location and service registration process after the secure authentication process of the active RFID tag, but is also a secure protocol for single and group services, is proposed in this study.

  • We consider an RFID network configured as a star in which tags stationarily move into and out of the vicinity of the reader. To cognize the neighboring tags in the RFID network, we propose a scheme based on dynamic framed and slotted ALOHA which determines the number of slots belonging to a frame in a dynamic fashion. The tag cognizance scheme distinctively employs a rule for estimating the expected number of neighboring tags, identified as R-retrospective maximum likelihood rule, where the observations attained in the R previous frames are used in maximizing the likelihood of expected number of tags. Simulation result shows that a slight increase in depth of retrospect is able to significantly improve the cognizance performance.

  • An UHF ($860{\sim}960MHz$) RFID tag antenna is optimized and designed using a genetic algorithm (GA). The tag antenna impedance should be matched to the conjugate of the impedance of the tag IC Chip. The chip impedance has real and capacitive imaginary parts due to the parasitic capacitance of the RFID chip. A GA linked with a commercially available antenna simulation program optimizes the UHF $860{\sim}960\;MHz$ tag antenna to match a commercially available RFID chip. This method shows that any RFID antenna can be designed for any commercial RFID chip with any impedance.

  • Tag collection is one of the major concerns in radio frequency identification(RFID) system. All tags in RFID reader's transmission range send response message back to the reader in response to collection request message on the given rf channel. When multiple tags respond simultaneously, tag-collision may occur. Tag-collision problem is one of the most important issues in active RFID performance. To mitigate this problem, frame slotted ALOHA(FSA) anti-collision protocol is widely used in active RFID system. Several studies show that the maximum system efficiency of FSA anti-collision protocol is 36.8%. In this paper, we propose an efficient slotted CSMA/CA protocol to improve tag collection performance. We compare our protocol to the FSA anti-collision protocol. For the experiment, an 433MHz active RFID system is implemented, which is composed of an RFID reader and multiple tags. We evaluated the tag collection performance using one RFID reader and 40 tags in the real test bed. The experimental result shows that proposed protocol improves the tag collection time, round and collision probability by 18%, 37.4% and 77.8%, respectively.
