캐비테이션 터널에서 PIV를 이용한 프로펠러 후류 보오텍스 유동계측 및 거동해석 (PIV Aanalysis of Vortical Flow behind a Rotating Propeller in a Cavitation Tunnel)

  • A two-frame PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry) technique is used to investigate the wake characteristics behind a marine propeller with 4 blades at high Reynolds number. For each of 9 different blade phases from $ 0^{\circ} $ to $ 80^{\circ} $, one hundred and fifty instantaneous velocity fields are measured. They are ensemble averaged to study the spatial evolution of the propeller wake in the region ranging from the trailing edge to one propeller diameter (D) downstream location. The phase-averaged mean velocity shows that the trailing vorticity is related to radial velocity jump, and the viscous wake is affected by boundary layers developed on the blade surfaces and centrifugal force. Both Galilean decomposition method and vortex identification method using swirling strength calculation are very useful for the study of vortex behaviors En the propeller wake legion. The slipstream contraction occurs in the near-wake region up to about X/D : 0.53 downstream. Thereafter, unstable oscillation occurs because of the reduction of interaction between the tip vortex and the wake sheet behind the maximum contraction point.

  • 마이크로믹서는 Bio-MEMS 혹은 μ-TAS 분야에서 중요한 역할을 수행한다. 혼합은 두 유체의 난류 상태와 상호확산에 의해 발생된다. 마이크로채널 내에서는 레이놀즈수가 작기 때문에 (Re << 2000) 난류가 발생되기 어려우므로 주로 상호확산에 의해서만 혼합된다. 따라서 두 유체가 적정하게 혼합되기 위해서는 긴 채널이 요구된다. 본 논문에서는 혼합에 소요되는 길이를 줄이기 위해서 PMN-PT에 의해 발생된 초음파에 의해 혼합되는 새로운 믹서를 제안하였다. 챔버 내에 발생된 초음파는 두 유체에 의해 생성된 경계면과 수직한 방향으로 방사된다. 사용된 두 유체는 상하방향으로 경계층을 이룬다. 혼합 상태는 NaOH와 페놀프탈렌의 반응에 따른 색상 변화론 관찰하여 측정하였다.

파형벽면이 있는 채널내의 난류열전달에 대한 수치해석 (Numerical Simulation of Turbulent Heat Transfer in a Channel with One Wavy Wall)

  • 파형벽면이 존재하는 채널유동에 대한 난류열전달이 난류모델에 의해서 조사되었다. Park et at.[1]의 비선형 k- f - f$_{모델이 수정되었고, 외재적인 비선형 열유속모델이 사용되었다 선택된 레이놀즈수는 Re$_{b}$ =6760이고 형상변화 (0 $\leq$ $\alpha$/$\lambda$$\leq$0.15 and 0.25 $\leq$A/H$\leq$4.0.)에 따른 열전달을 조사하였다. 모델의 성능을 검증하기 위하여 큰에디모사법이 선택된 경우에 수행되었다. 큰에디모사법의 결과와 비교할 때 모델성능은 일반적인 경향을 잘 예측하였다. 비선형 k- $\varepsilon$ - f$_{모델을 이용하여 파형벽면에 의한 열전달의 증가 특징과 형상의 영향이 조사되었다.

90도 요철이 설치된 회전덕트에서 유출이 열/물질전달에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Bleeding on Heat/Mass Transfer in a Rotating Channel with Transverse Ribs)

  • The present study investigates the effects of bleed flow on heat/mass transfer and pressure drop in a rotating channel with transverse rib turbulators. The hydraulic diameter $(D_h)$ of the square channel is 40.0mm. The bleed holes are located between the rib turbulators on leading surface and the hole diameter (d) is 4.5 mm. The square rib turbulators are installed on both leading and trailing surfaces. The rib-to-rib pitch is 10.0 times of the rib height(e) and the rib height-to-hydraulic diameter ratio $(e/D_h)$ is 0.055. The tests were conducted at various rotation numbers (0, 0.2, 0.4), while the Reynolds number and the rate of bleed flow to main flow (BR) were fixed at 10,000 and $10\%$, respectively. The results suggest that the heat/mass transfer characteristics in the internal cooling passage are influenced by rib turbulators, bleed flow and the Coriolis force induced by rotation. For the rotating ribbed passage with bleed flow, the heat/mass transfer on the leading surface is hardly affected by bleed flow, but that on the trailing surface decreases due to the diminution of main flow. The results also show that the friction factor decreases with the bleed flow.

  • The characteristics of flame shape, laminar burning velocity, emissions and heat flux of stagnation point in premixed impinging jet flame of syngas fuel with 10% hydrogen content were experimentally investigated. Also, the adiabatic temperature and burning velocity are calculated by Chemkin package with USC-II mechanism. The equivalence ratios(0.8~5.0) and dimensionless separation distance(2.0~5.0) with fixed Reynolds number(1800) are main parameters in this work. Different flame shapes and colors were observed for different impingement conditions. The experimental results of burning velocity by flame surface area have a consistent with previous works and numerical simulation of this work. The inner flame length could be predicted with the ratio of mixture velocity and burning velocity from a simple formulation by the laminar burning velocity definition. It has been observed that the heat fluxes at stagnation point are directly affected by the flame shape including the separation distance. The emission results in impinging flame of syngas fuel show that the characteristics of $NO_x$ emission traced well with adiabatic temperature trend and CO emission due to fuel rich condition increased continuously with respect to the equivalence ratio.

  • 전단 동축형 인젝터를 통해 분사된 친환경 이원추진제 기체메탄-기체산소의 연소특성을 규명하기 위한 연구를 수행하였다. DSLR카메라를 이용하여 다양한 연소조건에서 화염을 촬영하였고, 이미지 후처리 기법을 통해 화염형상을 정량화한 후 그 특성을 분석하였다. 안정화 관점에서 확산화염은 anchored flame regime과 blow-off regime으로 구분될 수 있었으며, 산화제 레이놀즈 수($Re_o$)가 증가함에 따라 부착화염의 형성, 화염의 길이가 증가하는 경향을 나타냈다. 본 실험에 이용된 전단 동축형 인젝터는 추진제 제트의 운동량 확산에만 종속하고 그리 양호하지 않은 혼합으로 인해 분사방향으로 길이가 긴 화염을 형성하게 되므로 보다 큰 연소실 길이직경비가 요구됨을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • 부표시스템 침수체의 주요형상인 원형실린더에 제어봉을 부착하여 2차원 단면의 유동특성에 대해서 수치해석을 수행하였다. 유속을 0.1m/s에서 0.5m/s로 변화시키면서 부표시스템 주위의 유동현상을 파악하고 부표시스템의 효과적인 유통제어를 위해 실린더 (D=50mm)에 제어봉의 직경을 0.1D 에서 O.5D 까지 부착하여 조류에 의한 영향을 조사하였다. 유동장내의 속도분포는 PIV계측기법 중 2 프레림 입자추적법을 사용하여 수치해석의 정도를 높이고자 0.3m/s에서 비교 평가하였다. 실린더 주위의 압력분포는 0.2D 의 제어봉을 부착하였을 경우, 유속의 변화에 관계없이 가장 양호한 경향을 보이는 것을 알 수 있었다.

Prediction of the turning and zig-zag maneuvering performance of a surface combatant with URANS

  • The main objective of this study is to investigate the turning and zig-zag maneuvering performance of the well-known naval surface combatant DTMB (David Taylor Model Basin) 5415 hull with URANS (Unsteady Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes) method. Numerical simulations of static drift tests have been performed by a commercial RANS solver based on a finite volume method (FVM) in an unsteady manner. The fluid flow is considered as 3-D, incompressible and fully turbulent. Hydrodynamic analyses have been carried out for a fixed Froude number 0.28. During the analyses, the free surface effects have been taken into account using VOF (Volume of Fluid) method and the hull is considered as fixed. First, the code has been validated with the available experimental data in literature. After validation, static drift, static rudder and drift and rudder tests have been simulated. The forces and moments acting on the hull have been computed with URANS approach. Numerical results have been applied to determine the hydrodynamic maneuvering coefficients, such as, velocity terms and rudder terms. The acceleration, angular velocity and cross-coupled terms have been taken from the available experimental data. A computer program has been developed to apply a fast maneuvering simulation technique. Abkowitz's non-linear mathematical model has been used to calculate the forces and moment acting on the hull during the maneuvering motion. Euler method on the other hand has been applied to solve the simultaneous differential equations. Turning and zig-zag maneuvering simulations have been carried out and the maneuvering characteristics have been determined and the numerical simulation results have been compared with the available data in literature. In addition, viscous effects have been investigated using Eulerian approach for several static drift cases.

Numerical simulation of fish nets in currents using a Morison force model

  • For complex flexible structures such as nets, the determination of drag forces and its deformation is a challenging task. The accurate prediction of loads on cages is one of the key steps in designing fish farm facilities. The basic physics with a simple cage, can be addressed by the use of experimental studies. However, to design more complex cage system for various environmental conditions, a reliable numerical simulation tool is essential. In this work, the current load on a cage is calculated using a Morison-force model applied at instantaneous positions of equivalent-net modeling. Variations of solidity ratio ($S_n$) of the net and current speed are considered. An equivalent array of cylinders is built to represent the physical netting. Based on the systematic comparisons between the published experimental data for Raschel nets and the current numerical simulations, carried out using the commercial software OrcaFlex, a new formulation for $C_d$ values, used in the equivalent-net model, is presented. The similar approach can also be applied to other netting materials following the same procedure. In case of high solidity ratio and current speed, the hybrid model defines $C_d$ as a function of Re (Reynolds number) and $S_n$ to better represent the corresponding weak diffraction effects. Otherwise, the conventional $C_d$ values depending only on Re can be used with including shielding effects for downstream elements. This new methodology significantly improves the agreement between numerical and experimental data.

와법을 이용한 분리된 분할판을 가진 정방형주의 유동장 특성계산 (Characteristic calculations of flowfield around a square prism having a detached splitter plate using vortex method)

  • 본 연구는 정방형주의 후류측 중심에 분리된 분할판(Detached splitter plate)을 설치한 경우 정방형주의 주위의 유동장을 최신와법으로 파악한 것이다. 레이놀즈 수 $Re=1.0{\times}10^4$ 및 분할판의 폭을 정방형주 한변의 길이(B)로 고정시키고, 특히 항력감소율이 최대인 간격비에 촛점을 맞추어 분할판 유, 무에 따른 정방형주에 주위의 순간 및 평균 속도장 및 압력장을 시뮬레이션하였고, 양, 항력계수의 시간변화도 계산하였다. 계산결과는 측정된 항력계수 및 압력분포와 잘 일치하였다. 분할판 설치에 의해 분할판의 상하부에 서로 반대방향의 볼텍스가 발생했고, 이 볼텍스가 정방형주 뒷면의 압력을 상승시켜 항력을 감소시켰음을 명확하게 나타냈다.
