  • A reversed phase HPLC method was developed to determine the major components of Psoralea corylifolia, psoralen, isopsoralen, bakuchiol, and corylin. Quantitative analysis of the above compounds was performed by C-18 column using a gradient solvent system of acetonitrile and water with UV detection at 310 nm. The comparison of contents of psoralen, isopsoralen, bakuchiol, and corylin in psoraleae semen and the processed psoraleae semen was also investigated. In result, processed psoraleae semen showed more amounts of psoralen, isopsoralen, and corylin with 1.6, 4.3, and 1.3 mg/g, respectively, except bakuchiol (66.98 mg/g) while psoraleae semen showed 0.53, 1.56, 1.0, and 76.3 mg/g of psoralen, isopsoralen, corylin, and bakuchiol, respectively.

  • As a part of the quality control of herbal prescriptions which has been used for diabetes and related diseases, a reversed-phase liquid chromatographic method was developed for the simultaneous quantification of the three marker compounds, puerarin (Puerariae Radix), glycyrrhizin (Glycyrrhizae Radix), schizandrin (Schizandrae Fructus) in Oc Chun San. The HPLC analysis method was validated for parameters such as linearity, Limits of Detection(LOD), quantification(LOQ), repeatability, stability and recovery.

  • A high-performance liquid chromatographic method for the determination of ${\beta}$-sitosterol in the unsaponifiable fraction of Zea mays L. and its related drug preparations using a cholesterol as an internal standard was investigated. They were saponified with 20% methanolic KOH solution. Phytosterols in the reaction mixture were extracted with diethyl ether and separated on silica gel TLC plate with n-hexane-diethyl ether(40:60) as the solvent and then were scraped off. They were separated by reversed phase high perfomance liquid chromatography on Inertsil ODS-2 column with detection at 205nm. Cholesterol and ${\beta}$-sitosterol were resolved from interferences by adjusting the acetonitrile content in the MeOH-tetrahydrofuran-$H_2O$ eluent. The detection limit of ${\beta$-sitosterol was 0.43${\mu}$g.

  • This paper presents an advanced RFID reader system implementing multi-protocols and multi-standards at 900MHz. In accordance with the strict regulations specified by ISO 18000-6 B-Type and EPC Global Gen 2, we have designed corresponding systemic factors which meet the domestic radio frequency utilizing bands of 910-914MHz. In addition, we develop numerous crucial factors of system compatibility options including SSB (Single-Side Band) and DSB (Double-Side Band) specifications, also OOK (On-Off Keying), ASK (Amplitude Shift Keying) and PR-ASK (Phase Reversed-Amplitude Shift Keying) modulation formula. Remarkable technical features of system in this paper can be the direct conversion routines using I/Q Modulation/Demodulation respectively, and Full-Duplex formulation operating at identical frequency bands.

  • This paper presents a simplified modulation strategy for the three-leg VSI fed two-winding induction motor. The strategy provides independent unbalanced voltage control for the main and auxiliary windings. This make the motor can be reversed rotation through the range of motor speed operation without limitation of voltage boost of the auxiliary winding. To study the advantages of the proposed drive, the experimental results such as voltage stresses, hysteresis band of the currents in locus, and also acoustic noise levels of the three-leg VSI are compared with those of the conventional two-leg topology. The results obviously show that the proposed technique achieves superior performance compared with the traditional scheme in case of dramatic increase of DC bus utilization, effective reduction of harmonic voltages content, and also significant enhancement of motor efficiency.

  • This paper described a numerical investigation performed to understand better the effects of flow parameters in an entrained flow combustor on the flow characteristics. The computational model was based on the gas phase Eulerian equations of mass, momentum and energy. The code was formulated with RNG $k-\varepsilon$ model for turbulent flow. The calculation parameters were the ratio of primary and secondary jet velocity and the height difference between primary and secondary jet As the secondary jet velocity increased, the upper recirculation 3one of the primary jet was strengthened. It was found that as the primary jet velocity increased, there was a critical jet Velocity at which the size of upper and lower recirculation zone was reversed.

  • Seven flavonol glycosides from the EtOAc fraction of Ginkgo biloba leaves were identified by high performance liquid chromatography. Separation by reversed phase chromatography on $Lichrosorb^{\circledR}$ RP-18 column was achieved by isocratic elution. The content of the major acylated flavonol glycoside, kaempferol 3-0-[$6'-O-{p}-coumaroyl-{\beta}-_D-glucosyl(1{\rightarrow}2)-{\alpha}-_L-rhamnoside$] was about 8.0% and 0.55% for EtOAc fraction and MeOH extract, respectively.

  • An alternative to the well known reversed-phase separations on chemically-boned phases has been developed. The approach is based on a dynamic modification of bare silica with long chain quaternary ammonium ions. The influence of the concentration and type of quaternary ammonium ion, the pH value and the ionic strength of the eluent on the selectivity towards test solutes has been investigated. The large number of parameters that can be attained. Once established, a high degree of reproducibility of the selectivity between solutes is obtained even when using different brands of silica; this is in contrast to the situation when using chemically-bonded phases, such as for example, different brands of octadecylsilyl-bonded silica materials. Examples of the use of system in pharmaceutical analysis and drug metabolism studies are given.

  • The latitude-independent Pc5 pulsations with a spectral peak at -3 mHz were observed with IMAGE and SAMNET magnetometer away, ranging from -47$^{\circ}$ to -77$^{\circ}$geomagnetic latitudes, in the morning sector (0700-1000 local time) during an interval of 30 minutes on April 29, 2001. The spectral amplitude had a local peak at -67$^{\circ}$, where a sudden phase change of -180$^{\circ}$ is found. A vortical equivalent ionospheric current structure centered at latitude between 67$^{\circ}$ and 71$^{\circ}$ was observed during the Pc5 pulsations and the rotational sense of the current vortex was reversed for one cycle of the pulsation. • The induced antibiotic peptides were isolatde from the white-spotted folwer chafer, Protaetia brevitarsis by injection of E. coli suspension to the larvae of the insect. The antibacterial activity of the peptides were assayed by the plate growth ingibition method, and were purified by ion-exchange chromatography, reversed-phase HPLC, ion-exchange HPLC and SDS-PAGE etc. The peptides were estimated as 9 kDa in molecular weight and named Protaecin I and Protaecin II, respectively. Protaecin I and II have strong antibacterial activities against Gram-positivie and/or Gram-negative bacteria, and they are stable in the heat treatment and in the range of pH 2-12.
