하수처리장 방류수를 이용한 인공함양 가능성 평가

  • The main purpose of this research is to find suitable treatment methods of wastewater effluent for artificial recharge. For this purpose, we search the effluent quality of wastewater treatment plant and possibility of additional filtration process. Particles ranged 2 ~ 5 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and 15~20 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in "T" WWTP(Waste Water Treatment Plant) effluent were relatively dominant. In dual-media filtration system operation, head-loss development of column 1 was about two times faster than column 2, and head-loss development within 5 cm from surface was very important factor in operation, Conclusively, for the stable filtration and running time of 1.5~2 day, influent turbidity must keep 5 NTU or below, and filtration system must operated at 280 m/day or below. After filtration of WWTP effluent, water quality reached satisfactory level. This water has potential of agricultural reusing, flushing water in building, recharging water to river or stream at dry season and artificial recharge of ground water.und water.

농업적 용수재이용 수질기준을 고려한 적정 하수재처리에 관한 연구 (Guidelines and Optimum Treatment for Agriculture Reuse of Reclaimed Water)

  • 본 연구에서는 국제적으로 사용하고 있는 농업용수 재이용 수질기준을 검토하고 우리나라 하수처리 방류수의 재이용 가능성에 대하여 고찰하였으며, 재이용수로이용하기 위해 필요한 처리대안에 실험 ${\cdot}$ 연구한 결과이다. Biofilter 유출수를 17, 25, 40W의 3가지 램프로 UV소독한 결과 40W 램프에서는 모든 경우에 100%소독되었으며, 25 W와 17 W에서는 전반적으로 97%이상 소독효율을 나타내었으며, 적절하게 설계된 UV소독을 거친 하수처리장 유출수는 USEPA와 WHO의 가장 엄격한 수질기준을 충분히 만족시켜서 보건 ${\cdot}$ 위생적인 문제를 일으키지 않을 것으로 판단된다. 간헐 분사방식의 완속모래여과 처리후 미생물의 처리효율은 TC, FC, E. coli 모두 평균 95% 이상 높은 처리 효율을 나타내었으며, 완속모래여과 후의 평균 농도는 각각 330, 207, 154 MPN/100 mL이었고 탁도와 SS는 모두 약 50%의 처리효율을 나타내었는데, 이는 WHO의 수질기준을 충분히 만족시켰으며, USEPA의 수질기준인 200FC/100mL의 경우에도 적절한 관리가 이루어 질 경우 만족시킬 수 있을 것으로 판단된다. 탁도는 평균 0.8NTU로써 먹는물 수질기준인 INTU수준이었고, SS의 경우에도 50% 이상의 처리효율을 나타내어 USEPA의 가장 엄격한 수질기준을 충분히 만족하였으며, 영양물질의 제거에도 기여를 하기 때문에 수계의 오염부하를 줄이는 측면에서도 유리할 것으로 생각된다. 연못시스템을 거치면서 TC, FC, E. coli 모두 85%정도 제거되어 평균미생물농도가 1,000MPN/100 m1 이하이었다. 우리나라의 수질기준으로 WHO 수질기준이 논농사에 적용될 경우 소독이나 여과처리 없이도 재이용할 수 있을 것이라 판단되나, USEPA의 수질기준이 적용될 경우에는 연못시스템만으로도 부족하여 추가적인 처리가 필요할 것으로 생각된다. 과거 US EPA의 위험을 완전히 배제한 수질기준을 여러 국가에서 받아들여 사용하고 있으나, WHO에서는 이수질기준이 경제 ${\cdot}$ 사회적으로 불합리한 기준이라 판단하고 보다 완화된 수질기준을 제시하였다. 우리나라에서도 수질기준을 결정할 때 논농사라는 특수한 실정에 맞는 수질 기준을 정해 경제적이고 실용적인 처리방법을 선정하는 것이 중요하다고 할 수 있다. 벼의 경우는 껍질과 추가적인 처리 후 섭취하는 작물이기 때문에 엄격한 수질기준이 필요하지 않을 수 있으나, 장기간 담수상태를 유지함으로써 농민을 포함한 공중보건에 위해성을 줄 가능성이 크므로 세균성미생물 등에 대한 신중한 결정이 필요하다.

용수재이용을 위한 하수처리 유출수의 UV 소독 효율 연구 (Feasibility Study of UV-Disinfection for Water Reuse of Effluent from Wastewater Treatment Plant)

  • The feasibility study of UV-disinfection system was performed for disinfection of effluent from wastewater treatment plant. Three low-pressure UV lamps of 17, 25, and 41 W were examined with various flow rates. Low-pressure UV lamps of 17W were examined with various turbidity, DOM (dissolved organic matter), and SS (suspended solid). The pilot plant was a flow-through type UV-disinfection system, and the range of exposure time varied from 5 to 40 seconds, turbidity from 0 to 40 NTU, DOM from 0 to 30 mg/L, and SS from 10 to 40 mg/L. The 41W lamp demonstrated complete disinfection showing no survival ratio in all the experimental conditions, and generally 17W and 25W lamps also showed high removal ratio over 97%. For the same UV dose (UV intensity times exposure time), high intensity-short exposure conditions showed better disinfection efficiency than low intensity-long exposure conditions. While the effects of turbidity and DOM were not apparent, the effects of SS was significant on the disinfection efficiency which indicates that SS control before UV-disinfection appears to be necessary to increase removal efficiency. Considering characteristics of effluent from existing wastewater treatment plants, cost-effectiveness, stable performance, and minimum maintenance, the flow-through type UV-disinfection system with high intensity and low-pressure lamps was thought to be a competitive disinfection system for wastewater reclamation.

  • Surveyed effluent capacities for potential wastewater resources through the surveying of the sewage treatment plants its capacity is up to 10,000 tonnes per day located 4 provinces (kyunggi, gangwon, chungbuk, chungnam) in this year. The total effluent capacities in this provinces are 423 thousand $m^3/day$, which may be used to irrigated paddy fields of 2,310ha A GIS database for wastewater resource inventory was developed for 4 provinces (kyunggi, gangwon, chungbuk, chungnam) to explore the feasibility of the wastewater reuse for drought mitigation. And it is to be extended to the other wastewater treatment plants.

전처리 MF의 다양한 역세 공정을 적용한 하수재이용 파일럿 플랜트 연구 (Study of MF membrane as pretreatment option using various backwash process from wastewater reuse pilot plant)

  • Various studies have forwarded an outstanding wastewater effluent treatment systems toward securing sustainable supply of water sources. In this paper, a broad overview of the performance of MF membrane as pretreatment option for wastewater reuse will be presented based on the literature survey and experiments conducted over the wastewater reuse pilot plant. The pilot plant was operated with a continuous data acquisition for about 300days under various chemical enhanced backwash (CEB) system with subsequent treated water quality analysis. Accordingly, assessment of the effluent revealed that the pretreated water is suitable enough to be used as an input for Reverse Osmosis (RO) unit and significant effect of CEB and concentration of NaOCl is also conceived from the analysis. Moreover, it's also observed that the application of various CEB condition over long operational hours induced a constant declination of overall performance of MF membrane.

파일럿 규모의 침지식 부직포 여재 활성슬러지 공정의 시스템 처리 특성에 관한 연구 (Pilot Scale Test of Non-woven Fabric Filter Separation Activated Sludge Process for Practical Application on Domestic Wastewater Reclamation)

  • A pilot scale non-woven fabric filter separation activated sludge system was investigated for practical application on domestic wastewater reclamation and reuse. The system was operated in A/O (Anaerobic/Oxic) process with submerged filter module in the aerobic compartment. In the test of two types of filter materials ($70g/m^2$ and $35g/m^2$), the initial flux (0.42m/d) could be maintained for about three months by regular air backwashing of $70g/m^2$ filter at 0.3m water head. The removal efficiency of organic matter by the system was BOD 93.3%, CODcr 96.3%, SS 96.7%. The effluent quality was 7.8mg/L, 12mg/L and 5mg/L for BOD, CODcr and SS, respectively. The water quality was enough to meet a standard for domestic reuse without human contact. T-N removal efficiency was 49.9% at internal recycle rate 2Q and C/N ratio 3.3. The removal efficiency of T-P was 50% with average effluent concentration, 2.6mg/L.

  • Wastewater reuse are exposed public health risk by pathogens. Therefore, this study was examined for microbial risk assessment after irrigation as treated wastewater in paddy rice plots. Five treatments were used: biofilter effluent, UV disinfected water, pond treatment, wetland treatment and conventional irrigation water. Risk assessment was calculated based on the beta-Poisson model by concentration of E. coli from 2003 to 2005. Monte-Carlo simulation (n=10,000) was used to estimate the risk characterization of uncertainty. The risk range was from $10^{-5}$ to $10^{-8}$ except biofilter effluent was $10^{-4}$ in June. The USEPA(1992) has recommended that risk of < $10^{-4}$ is acceptable level of safety for potable waters. In 2005, risk value was lower than 2003, 2004 because of the first irrigation for plowing water is lower E. coli concentration used tap water. It is shown that the first irrigation water quality was important for wastewater irrigation in paddy. UV disinfection and natural treatment used pond and wetland were thought to be an effective for wastewater reuse.

오존산화/응집 혼성공정에 의한 UF 분리막의 막오염 저감에 관한 연구 (A study on mitigation of membrane fouling by ozonation/coagulation in ultrafiltration)

  • Microfiltration (MF) and Ultrafiltration (UF) membrane processes capable of producing highly purified water have been extensively applied as a pretreatment process in the wastewater reuse field with the improvement of membrane properties and resistance, development of operating protocols, and improvement of technologies of backwashing and physicochemical cleaning, and improvement of scale and antifoulants. However, despite of the development of membrane production and process technologies, fouling still remains unresolved. This study confirmed that foulants such as polysaccharides, proteins and humic substances existed in final treated effluent (secondary effluent) by fluorescence excitation emission matrix (FEEM) and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis. In addition, when constructing ozone oxidation and coagulation processes as a hybrid process, the removal efficiency was 5.8%, 6.9%, 5.9%, and 28.2% higher than that of the single process using coagulation in turbidity, color, dissolved organic carbon (DOC), and UV254, respectively. The reversible and irreversible resistances in applying the hybrid process consisting of ozone oxidation and coagulation processes were lower than those in applying ozone oxidation and coagulation processes separately in UF membrane process. Therefore, it is considered possible to apply ozonation/coagulation as a pretreatment process for stable wastewater reuse by and then contributing to the reduction of fouling when calculating the optimal conditions for ozone oxidation and coagulation and then to applying them to membrane processes.

정삼투를 이용한 하수의 재이용에서 혼합비료 유도용액의 성능 평가 (Evaluating the Performance of Blended Fertilizer Draw Solution in Reuse of Sewage Water Using Forward Osmosis)

  • 본 연구는 혼합비료를 유도용액으로 하는 정삼투 기술을 하수에 적용하여 하수를 재이용하기 위한 연구이다. 이를 위하여 본 연구에서는 J 하수처리장의 1차 침전지 유입수와 유출수, 그리고 2차 침전지 유출수를 각각 처리 대상으로 하였다. 평균 수투과선속은 KCl + NH4Cl > KCl + NH4H2PO4 > KCl + (NH4)2HPO4의 순서로 크게 나타났으며, 역용선속은 KCl + NH4H2PO4 < KCl + NH4Cl < KCl + (NH4)2HPO4의 순서로 작게 나타났다. 혼합비료의 종류에 관계없이 2차 침전지 유출수의 수투과선속이 가장 높게 나타났다. KCl과 NH4H2PO4의 혼합 유도용액은 비료의 주요 성분인 질소, 인 및 칼륨을 모두 포함하고 있을 뿐 아니라 낮은 비역용질 선속을 갖고 있어서 하수의 재이용에 가장 유용하게 사용될 수 있을 것으로 판단되었다. KCl과 NH4H2PO4의 혼합 유도용액을 사용한 경우, 2차 침전지 유출수에 대한 평균 수투과선속과 역용질선속은 각각 12.14 LMH과 0.012 mol/㎡s이었다.
