중고령 은퇴자들의 은퇴 후 경과기간별 은퇴생활적응의 영향요인 (The Factors Affecting Retirement Adjustment by Elapsed Time from Middle-Aged & Advanced-Aged Retiree's Retirement)

  • Using the first wave of KLoSA(Korean Longitudinal study of Aging) beta version, this study analyzed factors affecting retirement adjustment by elapsed time from retiree's retirement through Binary Logit and Multinomial Logit Analysis. Participants were 1,780 retiree. The main results of this study were as follows : First, The retiree's education(-), health status(-), region(+), dwelling type(-), monthly household income(-), employment type before retirement(+), retirement reason(+), and the elapsed time from retirement(-) were affected whether they satisfied with pre-retirement or not. Second, The gender(-), age(-), and the region(+) were affected whether they satisfied with life after retirement or not. Third, The gender(-), age(-), education(+), heath status(+), dwelling type(+), monthly household income(+), retirement reason(-), and the elapsed time from retirement(+) were affected on their satisfaction after retirement compared to pre-retirement. Last, The different factors affected the life satisfaction after retirement by elapsed time from retirement.

퇴직한 남편과 그 부인의 탄력성과 적응분석 (Resilience and Adjustment of Retired Husbands and Wives)

  • This study examined the effect of resilience on the adjustment of retired husbands and their wives. Data was collected from 174 retired husbands and their wives in the Seoul metropolitan area. Collected data were analyzed by mean score, percentile, paired-t tests and regression analyses. The major findings were as follows : 1. There was no significant difference in the adjustments between retired husbands and their wives. 2. Individual resilience, family resilience and social resilience had a strong impact on the adjustment of retired husbands and their wives. Self-esteem, acceptance of retirement, communication between the couple, family cohesion, and retirement policy had a significantly positive impact on the husbands' adjustment. 3. As for the adjustment of the wives, self-esteem, communication between the couple, family cohesion, acceptance of husbands' retirement and religious activity had a significantly positive impact. In summary, this study shows the importance of resilience in the adjustment of retired husbands and their wives.

순위프로빗모형을 이용한 예비은퇴자의 주택소비 조정 의향 결정요인 분석 - 주택규모의 변화를 중심으로 - (Exploring housing consumption adjustment of pre-retirees after retirement using ordered probit model in terms of different housing size)

  • 본 연구에서는 예비 은퇴자의 은퇴 후 주택소비 조정 의향에 대한 결정요인을 탐색하였다. 연구방법으로 전국의 A은행에서 수집된 1,351명의 은퇴 후 주택소비 조정 의향에 대한 설문자료를 활용하여 분석을 실시하였다. 주택소비 조정의 범주는 다운사이징, 유지, 업사이징으로 구분하였고 이를 설명하기 위한 요인으로 성별, 교육수준, 주택규모, 주택유형, 자산규모, 은퇴 후 근로의지 등을 고려하여 순위프로빗 모형으로 추정하였다. 연구결과, 은퇴 후 주택소비 조정은 주로 주택 규모, 자산 규모, 은퇴 후 근로의지에 의해 영향을 받는 것으로 추정되었다. 구체적으로 첫째, 현재 주택 규모가 상대적으로 크면 은퇴 후 주택 소비를 하향 조정(다운사이징)할 가능성이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 자산 규모가 10억원을 초과하는 응답자는 3억원 초과~5억원 이하의 자산을 보유한 응답자에 비해 주택 소비를 상향 조정(업사이징)할 가능성이 높은 것으로 추정되었다. 셋째, 은퇴 후 근로의지가 전혀 없는 경우가 아니라면 주택소비를 하향 조정하기보다 상향 조정하고자 하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과는 고령화에 따른 향후 주택시장의 정책을 위한 정보를 제공할 것으로 사료된다.

중년남성의 가족기능성, 자기효능감이 은퇴불안에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Family Functionality and Self-efficacy on Retirement Anxiety Among Middle-aged Men)

  • Objectives: This study was designed to determine the effects of middle-aged men's family functionality and self-efficacy on their retirement anxiety, in order to produce methods to alleviate this anxiety, including providing basic information for devising programs that help middle-aged men get better adjusted to and increase their awareness about retirement. Methods: For data collection, the study surveyed 364 middle-aged men who were residing in B Metropolitan City from February. 10 to 25, 2017. Results: This study found that the primary factor influencing middle-aged men's retirement anxiety is self-efficacy, for which the explanatory power for the surveyed men's retirement anxiety was 52.0%. In contrast, family functionality had no effect on retirement anxiety. Conclusions: To make middle-aged men less anxious about retirement, a variety of programs must be created and implemented that help them improve their self-efficacy prior to retirement. Furthermore, these men should be provided with educational and intervention programs that facilitate their adjustment to retirement and increase their awareness about retirement.

남성퇴직자의 적응에 영향을 미치는 변인에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Affected Variables to the Adjustment of Retired Men)

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the protective factors that strengthen the adaptation ability by analyzing individual, family, and social activities variables which impact on the adjustment of retired men. The sample for final data analysis was 233 questionnaires completed by retired men aged from 45 to 65 years living in Seoul and the Metropolitan area. Statistical analyses were carried out using SPSS/WIN which included Frequencies, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and regression analysis. The results were as follows: 1. The degree of the retired men's adaptation was 3.22 out of 5. 2. The retired men's adaptation was affected by the variables in the following order: marital satisfaction, economic life satisfaction, acceptance for retirement, recreational facilities satisfaction, recognition for retirement, and cohesion. These variables explained 65.3% of the retired men's adaptation to life. The findings of this study could be utilized as basic data for developing educational programs and guiding policy-making to help retired men achieve development.

The Study on Retirement Age Adjustment Reflecting Possible Workability of Elderly Population

  • This study aims to discern the determinants influencing the perception of workability among the elderly population and delineate an appropriate retirement age within the labor market context. Employing binary logistic regression, this research utilizes data from the Korea Welfare Panel Study (2008, 2012, 2016, and 2020) provided by the Korea Institute for Health and Social Welfare. The findings indicate that key factors shaping the elderly's perception of workability encompass familial responsibilities (household and marital status) and their levels of physical and mental well-being. Econometric analysis suggests an anticipated retirement age for the elderly population ranging between 67 and 69 years. In addressing labor market demands and informing policymakers, the study proposes deliberations on extending the retirement age for individuals aged 60 to 65. This range serves as a compromise between the identified retirement age of 67 to 69 and the current average retirement age for elderly labor market participants. Bridging the disparity between the perceived workability age and the prevailing labor market baseline is crucial for achieving social consensus. Therefore, any extension of the retirement age should carefully consider both the demand and supply perspectives within the labor market. The study's contribution lies in two main aspects: firstly, presenting a retirement age framework for the labor market that integrates the workability of the elderly population, and secondly, providing evidence-based research outcomes to guide informed labor policies.

남편의 은퇴 이후 중노년기 부부의 적응과정에 관한 질적 연구 (A Qualitative Study on the Adaptation Process of Middle-Aged and Elderly Couples with Retired Husbands)

  • This study examined the retirement adaptation process for middle-aged and elderly couples. Twelve couples who had experienced retirement were recruited by theoretical sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed through the grounded theory approach of Strauss and Corbin (1998). This study showed the results of 124 concepts, 41 sub-categories and 17 categories indicated through an open coding process. As a paradigm in axial coding, the causal conditions in the adjustment procedures of elderly couples whose spouses are retired were 'retirement preparation,' 'retirement acceptance,' and 'marital satisfaction.' A central phenomenon was 'crisis and conflicts of twilight couples.' The contextual conditions that correspond to this phenomenon were 'psychological separation from adult children,' 'division of household labor,' and 'economic status.' The action/interaction strategies to control the phenomenon were 'recognition of marital relationships,' 'conflicts coping,' 'resolution methods,' and 'self-reflection.' The intervening conditions that facilitate action/interaction strategies were 'attitudes of husbands,' 'mutual awareness of couple,' 'health status,' and 'support systems.' The consequences were 'readaptation of marital relationships,' and 'unresolved conflicts,' and 'trying alone.' This research classified middle-aged and elderly couples' adaptation into three types such as mutual effort, separation & resignation, and conflicts vestige. The findings provide basic information to develop a retirement adaptation program for the middle-aged and elderly.

퇴직 후 창의적 직업을 선택한 남성 노인의 직업적응 경험 (Vocational Adjustment in Elderly Men Who Chose a Creative Occupation after Retirement)

  • 본 연구는 퇴직 후 창의적 직업을 선택한 남성 노인의 직업적응 경험을 살펴봄으로써 그 의미를 이해하고 이를 통해 창의적 직업을 희망하는 노인에게 구체적인 경험적 자료를 제공하기 위한 목적으로 수행되었다. 연구 참여자는 퇴직 후 창의적 직업에 종사 중인 만 65세 이상의 남성 노인 총 5명이며, 이들을 대상으로 심층 면접을 하였다. 이를 통하여 수집된 자료는 질적 내용분석을 하였고 그 결과, 총 132개의 개념과 25개의 하위범주 그리고 7개의 범주가 도출되었다. 7개의 범주는 <해방감이 이끄는 도전>, <'재미'에 대한 욕구의 반영>, <비전공자로서 느끼는 어려움과 한계>, <늘어나는 지출을 감당하기 위한 고민과 노력>, <성취를 향한 기쁨>, <자신의 창의성을 활용하는 방법>, <사회 참여의 확대에서 오는 보람>이었다. 이와 같은 결과를 통해서 나타난 창의적 직업의 적응 경험은 남성 노인의 잠재된 창의성이 발현되는 과정이었다. 이전에 느끼지 못했던 일하는 재미와 즐거움을 경험했고, 일을 수행하며 겪는 어려움을 극복하고 사회 참여를 확대해 나아가는 일련의 과정은 창의적 노화의 목표와 부합한다. 우리나라에서 노년기 창의적 직업의 선택과 적응을 돕기 위해서는 퇴직전 창의적 직업 관련 교육의 필요성과 사회적 환경의 변화를 고려한 다양한 정책적 노력과 함께 실천적 노력이 요구된다. 나아가 우리나라 노인의 퇴직 후 새로운 삶을 위한 창의적 직업의 선택이 성공적 노화를 위한 방안이 될 수 있음을 시사한다.

노인의 취업성향에 관한 연구 -취업노인과 비취업노인의 비교- (A Study on the Tendency to Employment of Elderly)

  • The purpose of this study is to find out specific ways to invigorate the employment of the elderly. To achieve this goal, attitude and information about elderly employment were required, and the groups divided based on them were found. The results of the research are as follows: 1. Attitudes toward employment of the elderly was considerably positive. Among the attitudes, the attitude toward employment-support was the most positive, and the attitude toward employment-motive was relatively less positive. 2. The extent the elderly possessed information about employment was comparatively limited, and quite a low score was shown in knowledge of employment-information of the elderly, which means the elderly are not exposed to the ways to get employed. 3. The groups were divided in four type: passive-stagnation, positive-adjustment, lack of information-work oriented, retirement oriented. Of the employed, the positive-adjustment were the most and the passive-stagnation were the least, while the lack of information-work oriented were the most and the retirement oriented were the least of the unemployed. The result that the lack of information-work oriented were the most of the unemployed shows the choice of unemployment was not an intended one.

우리나라 중·고령자의 은퇴 과정에 관한 연구: 생애주된일자리와 가교일자리를 중심으로 (A Study on Transition to Retirement of the Middle-Aged in Korea: Focused on the Career Job and the Bridge Job)

  • 본 연구는 우리나라 중·고령자의 노동시장 이탈이 다양한 형태로 나타난다는 점에 초점을 맞추어, 중·고령자의 은퇴 과정을 생애주된일자리, 가교일자리를 통해 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 1~3차년도 국민노후 보장패널(KReIS: Korean Retirement and Income Study)의 가구, 개인 및 직업력 자료를 활용하여 55세 이상 중·고령자들의 생애주된일자리, 가교일자리, 비취업의 비중이 어떻게 변하는지 살펴보고 생애주된일자리의 특성과 가교일자리의 특성을 분석하였다. 또한 중·고령자들의 노동시장 지위를 생애주된일자리 유지, 가교일자리, 비취업으로 나누어 이에 영향을 미치는 요인을 파악하였다. 분석결과 중·고령자들은 시간이 지나면서 생애주된일자리를 유지하는 비중이 감소하였으며, 가교일자리의 비중은 점차 높아지는 것으로 나타나 우리나라 중·고령자의 은퇴 과정에서 점차 '점진적 은퇴' 경향이 나타나고 있음을 확인하였다. 그리고 생애주된일자리와 가교일자리의 특성을 살펴본 결과, 가교일자리의 질이 생애주된일자리와 비교할 때 좋지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 중·고령자의 생애주된일자리 유지, 가교일자리, 비취업에 영향을 미치는 요인을 다항 로지스틱 분석을 통해 살펴본 결과, 중·고령자가 생애주된일자리를 그만 둔 이후 가교일자리에서 일하는 것은 이들의 경제적 필요에 의한 것임을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 결과는 가교일자리의 질을 담보할 수 있는 노동 시장정책의 확립, 그리고 생애주된일자리에서의 퇴출과 공적연금의 수급 사이의 소득 감소를 완화할 수 있는 소득보장정책의 필요성을 제기한다.
