VIBRATION PROPERTIES OF PEARS

  • Instrumentation and technologies are described for determining the vibration response characteristics of the pear with frequency range 5 to 320Hz. The computer program for controlling the vibration exciter and the function generator and for measuring the vibration response characteristics of the pear was developed. Mechanical properties such bioyield deformation, rupture deformation and apparent elastic modulus etc. were compared with the vibration response characteristics of the pear. The resonant frequency of the pear ranged from 53 to 102Hz and the amplitude at resonance was between 1.08 and 2.48g-rms. The resonant frequency and amplitude at resonance decreased with the increase of the sample mass, and they were slightly affected by mechanical properties such as bioyield deformation and rupture deformation. Regression analysis was performed among the relatively high correlated parameters from the results of correlation coefficient analysis.

  • Wearable and ubiquitous micro systems will be greatly growing and their related devices should be self-powered in order to avoid the replacement of finite power sources, for example, by scavenging energy from the environment. With ever reducing power requirements of both analog and digital circuits, power scavenging approaches are becoming increasingly realistic. One approach is to drive an electromechanical converter from ambient motion or vibration. Vibration-driven generators based on electromagnetic, electrostatic and piezoelectric technologies have been demonstrated. Among various generator types proposed so far, piezoelectric generator possesses considerable potential in micro system. To overcome low mechanical-to-electric energy conversion, the piezoelectric device should activate in resonance mode in response to external vibration. Normally, the external vibration excretes at low frequency ranging 0.1 to 200 Hz, whereas the resonant frequencies of the devices are fixed as constant. Therefore, keeping their resonant mode in varying external vibration can be one of important points in enhancing the conversion efficiency. We investigated the possibility of use of multi-bender type piezoelectric devices. To match the external vibration frequency with the device resonant frequency, the various devices with different resonant frequency were chosen.

  • Nowadays, the natural frequencies and their relative amplitudes of torsional vibration for the marine diesel engine shafting are usually calculated by the Holzer method and also its resonant amplitudes are estimated by the energy method, that is, by equating the exciting energy to the damping one. Therefore, the forced vibration amplitudes out of the resonant points can not be calculated by the above-mentioned method. And so, the reasonable barred-ranges of torsional vibration can not be set and also the flank of resonant point which locates near the calculation limit can not be estimated. For such problems, the equation of forced vibration with damping must be solved directly and these results can be utilized to derive the synthesized torsional vibration of the marine diesel engine propulsion shafting. In this study, the equation of forced vibration with damping for the marine diesel engine propulsion shafting is derived and its steady-state vibration is calculated by the mechanical impedance method. For numerical calculation of the actual propulsion shafting a computer program is developed. In order to prove the reliability of this program, an actual ship's propulsion shafting whose torsional vibration was measured is analyzed and the calculated propulsion shafting whose torsional vibration was measured is analyzed and the calculated results are compared with the measured ones. And also, they are compared with the calculated results which were obtained by the modal analysis.

2관성 공진계에 대한 반복 학습 제어의 응용에 관한 연구 (Study on Application of Iterative Learning Control to 2-Mass Resonant System)

  • A 2-mass resonant system is one that has a flexible coupling between a load and a driving motor. Due to this flexibility, the system often suffers vibration especially when the motor is controlled for higher speed command. In order to suppress such a vibration, an iterative learning control is applied to the 2-mass resonant system in this paper. The motor speed is controlled according to the relation with the load speed. The desired speed trajectories are derived under the condition for no vibration. The simulation result suggests that the proposed method effectively suppresses the vibration even when there exist model uncertainties.

  • Material damping is an important parameter to evaluate the site response by a dynamic loading. Currently the material damping of the subgrade is mainly determined by a resonant column testing. Typical methods to evaluate material damping include half-power bandwidth method and free-vibration decay method. In the large strain range, the half-power bandwidth method gives an erratic damping factor, because the method is based on the assumption of the linear behavior of a specimen. The free-vibration decay method has also limitations in that the damping factors vary with the range of cycles in calculation, and also in that the specific shear strain can not be designated for the free vibration. In this study, the frequency-phase method, which was developed to evaluate material damping of a beam simply supported, is introduced to evaluate the material damping by the resonant column testing. Also, the comparison among half-power method, free-vibration decay method and the frequency-phase method is provided for a remolded sand.

진동시험에 의한 참외의 진동특성 (Vibration Characteristics of the Oriental Melon by Vibration Test)

  • 본 연구에서는 청과물 포장설계 시 중요한 자료가 되는 참외의 공진 주파수 및 정점가속도 등과 같은 진동특성을 분석하기 위하여 실험 장치를 구성하고 진동시험장치의 제어 및 계측을 위한 컴퓨터 프로그램을 개발하였다. 이를 이용하여 참외의 진동 특성을 측정하였으며 이들과 참외의 기본적인 물성 값인 질량, 체적 및 장 단축과의 관계를 구명하였던 주요 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 참외의 진동특성을 분석할 수 있는 실험 장치를 구성하였으며, 장치의 제어와 계측을 위한 컴퓨터 프로그램을 개발하였다. 2. 공시 참외의 공진 진동수는 약물결 50.8~72.6 Hz 범위로 나타났으며, 점점 가속도는 약1.24~1.92G-rms범위로 나타났다. 3. 참외의 공진 주파수 및 정점 가속도는 참외의 질량, 체적 및 장 단축이 증가함에 따라 감소 하였으며 참외의 질량과 공진 주파수 및 정점 가속도와의 상관관계가 가장 높게 나타났다. 4. 참외의 공진주파수 및 정점가속도를 추정할수 있는 회귀모형을 참외의 질량 및 장 단축을 독립변수로 하여 개발하였으며 회귀모형을 평가한 결과 참외의 질량과 장 단축을 측정하면 참외의 공진 주파수와 정점 가속도를 추정할 수 있을 것으로 판단되었다.

  • According to the mechanical-electrical coupling characteristics and the electrical Impedance property of resistor-inductor-capacitor(RLC) series resonant circuit, the mechanical impedance analysis of a bimorph piezoceramic patch shunted with a series RLC resonant circuit is conducted. The displacement transfer function of a cantilever beam bonded with a piezoelectric shunt damping module is deduced in the case of single mode vibration of the beam. By the use of vibration damping theory of tuned mass damper system, the parameter optimization of piezoelectric shunt damping system is performed. The optimal resonant state of the shunting circuit can be obtained when the resister and conductor are optimally adjusted. Test results show that the vibration control effect as well improved with optimized piezoelectric shunt system.

  • This paper is concerned with the active vibration control experiment on cylindrical shell equipped with Macro Fiber Composite(MFC) actuators. The MFC actuators were glued to the cylindrical shell in circumferential directions. To verify the theoretical result, vibration test using impact hammer and accelerometer was carried out. It was found from experiments that theoretical result predicts experimental result to some extent. The positive position feedback controllers were designed and applied to the test article. It was observed that the resonant amplitude of the fundamental mode was reduced by 20dB thus achieving active vibration control. The active vibration control of the response subject to non resonant excitation has been of interest. We developed the combination of the positive position feedback controller which can cope with the fundamental mode and the positive position feedback controller which can counteract the external disturbance with non resonant frequency. It was found from experiments that the hybrid controller can suppress the vibration amplitude successfully.

선박 국부구조의 공진응답 저감을 위한 동흡진기 최적 설계 방법 (Optimal Design Method of Dynamic Vibration Absorber to Reduce Resonant Vibration Response of Ship Local Structure)

  • Ship local structure sometimes experiences severe vibration due to the resonance with an excitation force generated by the propulsion system. In that case, the installation of dynamic vibration absorber such as Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) on the structure can be considered as an effective alternative countermeasure to reduce the troublesome vibration if structural modification or change of excitation frequencies is difficult. Meanwhile, the conventional optimal design method of TMD premises the target structure exposed on an excitation force without the constraint of its magnitude and frequency range. However, the frequencies of major ship excitation forces due to propulsion system are normally bounded and its magnitude is varied according to its operation speed. Hence, the optimal design of TMD to reduce the resonant vibration of ship local structure should be differently approached compared with the conventional ones. For the purpose, this paper proposes an optimal design method of TMD considering maximum frequency and magnitude variation of a target harmonic excitation component. It is done by both lowering the resonant response at the 1st natural frequency and locating the 2nd natural frequency over maximum excitation frequency for the idealized 2 degree of freedom system consisted of the structure and the TMD. For the validation of the proposed method, a numerical design case of TMD for a ship local structure exposed on resonant vibration due to a propeller excitation force is introduced and its performance is compared with the conventionally designed one.

이동통신 단말기용 압전 진동 장치에 관한 연구 (A study on the piezoelectric vibration device for mobile phone)

  • In this paper, it is investigated in advance about the PZT-based composition for piezoelectric vibration device. The specimens of piezoelectric ceramics are made of Columbite method. The piezoelectric vibration device by this composition is designed by ATILA(Magsoft) program used FEM(Finite Element Method). The vibration device used for mobile phone must be driven in the frequency of $130{\sim}200Hz$, so the resonant frequency of piezoelectricity must adjust driven frequency bandwidth. The result of analysis by ATILA is appeared dependant property of length, width, thickness and dummy weight about resonant frequency of the piezoelectric vibration device. The size of manufactured actuator is $28{\times}12{\times}0.3mm^3(length {\times}width{\times}thickness)$ and this is bimorph type. The test of manufactured piezoelectric vibration device measure displacement, acceleration and power dissipation. The piezoelectric vibration device has the advantage more than electro-magnetic motor, however the size of manufactured device is larger than electro-magnetic motor.
