  • The nonlinear response statistics of an autoparameteric system under broad-band random excitation is investigated. The specific system examined is a vibration absorber system with internal resonance, which is known to be a good model for a variety of engineering systems, including ship motions with nonlinear coupling between pitching and rolling motions. The Fokker-Planck equations is used to generate a general first-order differential equation in the dynamic moment of response coordinates. By means of the Gaussian closure method the dynamic moment equations for the random responses of the system are reduced to a system of autonomous ordinary differential equations. The jump phenomenon was found by Gaussian closure method under random excitation.

  • This paper presents the considerations of the high frequency modulation method for the metal halide lamp electronic ballast. The acousitc resonance phenomenon is occurred, if the metal halide lamp is driven at constant high frequency. The frequency modulation method therefore, is used to avoid the acoustic resonance phenomenon, but the crest factor of lamp current is increased. In this paper, the driving characteristic of the metal halide lamp according to the waveshape and frequency variations of modulating signal is considered with a viewpoint of crest factor.

  • Multi-resonance wave energy converter can generate efficient power generation by complexly utilizing the resonance phenomenon of waves even when waves propagate normally. As the wave is amplified by resonance, the power generation efficiency of the multi-resonance wave energy converter increases, and the shape of the resonance part needs to be optimized to maximize power generation efficiency. The multi-resonance wave energy converter amplifies waves in the seiche resonance part and the channel resonance part. In this study, CFD numerical experiments were performed under various conditions such as the length and location of the channel resonance part to analyze the sensitivity for each condition and derve the optimal shape of the channel resonance part.

  • When the train running on the high-speed track, there is a speed band which track distortion is unusually increased according to the condition of track and roadbed. This speed is called critical velocity and physical parameter values are increased greatly. These phenomenon happened as high-speed train were developed, studied regularly through TGV 100 running test in France. As research result until now, the main reason is soft roadbed's bearing capacity. Wave propagation and track support capacity is varied by the ground characteristics. This paper achieved theoretical examination about resonance band(speed and frequency) that occurred in roadbed on the base rock in point of geotechnical engineering. The examination of resonance divides with ground response analysis, critical band analysis by the shear wave velocity of roadbed and train critical speed through the ground stratum.

  • Experimental and theoretical study of the non-planar response motions of a circular cantilever beam subject to base harmonic excitation has been presented in this paper work. Theoretical research is conducted using two non-linear coupled integral-differential equations of motion. These equations contain cubic linearities due do curvature term and inertial term. A combination of the Galerkin procedure and the method of multiple scales are used to construct a first-order uniform expansion for the case of one-to-one resonance. The results show that the non-linear geometric terms are very important for the low-frequency modes of the first and second mode. The non-linear inertia terms are also important for the high-frequency modes. We present the quantitative and qualitative results for non-planar motions of the dynamic behavior.

  • Power system restoration following a massive or complete blackout starts with energizing of primary restorative transmission lines. During this primary restoration, inexpected overvoltage may happen due to nonlinear interaction between the unloaded transformer and the transmission system. This is known as the harmonic resonance phenomenon that may cause burning out of transformer or other devices. By now the harmonic resonance is reported in the extra high voltage system. This paper reports the detection of the resonance in Korean power system. Basic analysis and simulation of the harmonic overvoltage is presented using EMTDC.

  • The temperature dependence of spin wave mode separation in amorphous $Co_{89.5}Zr_{10.5}$ thin film has been investigated at temperatures between 100 K and 300 K. The magnetization and the spectroscopic splitting factor were obtained for the main resonance mode in parallel and perpendicular magnetic field. ${\Delta}H_{2-3}$, the difference between resonance field of mode 2 and the resonance field of mode 3, increases with decreasing temperature. The linewidth increases for all the modes with decreasing temperature. Especially in mode 3 it increases rapidly below 200 K. This phenomenon could be caused by the increase of exchange stiffness constant or the decrease of surface magnetic anisotropy constant with decreasing temperature.
