A Study on Transient Numerical Simulation on Heat Transfer Characteristics in the Resistive SFCL

  • A transient numerical simulation was conducted to have variation of temperature on an element of resistive Superconducting Fault Current Limiter (SFCL) under quench condition. It is very important engineering information for an optimum design of cryogenic system for cooling of a resistive SFCL element. A bifilar coil for resistive SFCL for 10 MVA system was incorporated as a model in this numerical study. From the numerical simulation result, it was found that the averaged temperature on the shunt and Bi-2212 element at 500 kW, 100 ms was 711.1 K and 198.4 K respectively. The temperature variation with the change of the hot-spot size and time is also obtained. The maximum temperature was continuously increased in all cases until the hot-spot stops at 100ms and it was going down after then. Such as, the details of temperature distribution on the SFCL element obtained from this numerical study and it should be very valuable information on the decision of the cooling capacity of cryogenic system.

Manufacture and Test of Small-scale Superconducting Fault Current Limiter by Using the Bifilar Winding of Coated Conductor

  • The Resistive Type High Temperature Superconducting Fault Current Limiter (SFCL) has been developed in many countries. Until now, materials of the resistive SFCL were Bi2212 bulk and YBCO thin film. Although YBCO coated conductor (CC) has many advantages such as high n-value and critical current for applying resistive SFCL, the resistive SFCL using CC doesn't have developed yet. The bifilar winding type SFCL was manufactured and tested rated on 30V/80A. In normal state, the SFCL using pancake type bifilar winding had very low impedance. When a fault occurred, the SFCL limited the fault current efficiently. Through these results of experiment, large-scale SFCL using CC should be developed in the future.

ARM 프로세서를 이용한 저항성 누전 차단기 개발 (The Development of Resistive Leakage Current Circuit Breaker using a ARM Processor)

  • 본 연구에서는 저항성 누설전류를 검출 및 차단할 수 있는 누전차단기를 32 bit ARM 프로세서를 기반으로 개발하였다. 개발된 누전차단기는 기술표준규격(KS C 4613)에서 규정하는 0.03초 이내에 저항성 누전을 차단을 할 수 있도록 구현되었다. 이러한 누전차단기는 스마트분전반에서 전기화재 및 감전 예방을 위한 차단기로 사용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

  • In case of fire spray protection sheath, fire resisting capacity is assessed for each material and installation method according to fire-resistive construction recognition. This study reviews effects of the percentage of water content that exist in fire spray protection sheath during the assess process of fire resisting capacity on fire resisting capacity, and changes of the percentage of water content according to temperature conditions. As a result of exams, as curing temperature is higher and thickness of specimen is thinner, decrease of the percentage of water content becomes significant.

LNA를 포함하는 4채널 DBF 수신기용 Low IF Resistive FET 믹서 (Low IF Resistive FET Mixer for the 4-Ch DBF Receiver with LNA)

  • This paper describes the resistive FET mixer with low IF for the 4-Ch DBF(Digital Beam Forming) receiver with LNA(Low Noise Amplifier). This DBF receiver based on the direct conversion method is generally suitable for high-speed wireless mobile communications. A radio frequency(RF), a local oscillator(LO) and an intermediate frequency(IF) considered in this research are 2.09 ㎓, 2.08 ㎓ and 10㎒, respectively. The RF input power, LO input power and Vgs are used -10㏈m, 6㏈m and -0.4 V, respectively. In the 4-Ch resistive FET mixer with LNA, the measured IF and harmonic components of 10㎒, 20㎒, 2.09㎓ and 4.17㎓ are about -12.5 ㏈m, -57㏈m, -40㏈m and -54㏈m, respectively. The IF output power observed at each channel of 10㎒ is about -12.5㏈m and it is higher 27.5 ㏈m than the maximum harmonic component of 2.09㎓. Each IF output spectrum of the 4-Ch is observed almost same value and it shows a good agreement with the prediction.

명암 변화에서 형상을 재현하기 위한 저항 신경망 (Resistive Net Computing Shape from Shading)

  • Many researchers have been interested in whether complex computational problems can be solved by the neural net or not. Especially, problems of early vision are integrated by Tikhonov's regularization theory. Regularization technique can be realized in resistive net. In this paper, we suggest the resistive net with upper and lower thresholder to be able to compute shape from shading and to solve its discontinuous problem. We simulate three algorithms-Horn's algorithm, resistive net and up-low thrwsholding net -with respect to three cases-fully boundary, boundary losing partly and noisy image. As being able to cope with crease and discontinuous parts, we get the good 3D shape from shading.

  • Penetration depth of Nb electrodes in $Nb/A1O_x/Nb$ Josephson junctions has been measured by resistive method. For a given applied field, the total flux through the junction is temperature dependent because the penetration depth of Nb electrode varies with temperature. If the total flux equals an integral multiple of the flux quantum at certain temperatures, resistive peaks appear at those temperatures. The penetration depth of Nb can be determined by applying the above condition, The temperature dependence of penetration depth was found to be well described by the two-fluid model.

  • A new optical-resistive voltage divider, which consists of light emitting diode, optic fiber, PIN-photo diode and a high qualify shielding resistive divider, whose total response time is 7.35 [ns], has been obtained. The optical to electrical signal converter was constructed with GaAsP series light emitting diode. The response characteristics have been verified by applying the Marx impulse voltage generator experimentally. Comparing with the performance of conventional resistive voltage divider, the characteristics of the proposed optical-resistive voltage divider are more excellent in step response and less sensitive to electromagnetic interference.

Simulation for current limiting characteristics of the resistive and inductive SFCL with line-to-ground fault

  • We investigated the current limiting characteristics of resistive and inductive SFCLs with 100 $\Omega$ of impedance for line-to-ground faults in the 154 kV transmission system. The fault simulation at the phase angles $0^{\circ}$, $^45{\circ}$, and $90^{\circ}$ showed that the resistive SFCL limits the fault current less than 17 kA without any DC component after one half cycle from the instant of the fault. On the other hand, the inductive SFCL suppresses the current below 14 kA, but with 5 kA of DC component which decreases to zero in 5 cycles. We concluded that the inductive SFCL has higher performance in current limiting effect, but the resistive SFCL was better from the viewpoint of less DC components.

  • The power comparison techniques have implemented power measurements, in which a power comparator is used to balance ac against a dc power obtained from known values. The developed power standard system using the comparison techniques consists of dc sources, ac source, control switches, resistive voltage dividers, resistive shunts and a power comparator. The total uncertainty of the power standard system was proved by analysis of the component instruments. Its expanded(k=2) uncertainty is evaluated to be less than 30 uW/VA at unit power factor and 42 uW/VA at power factor 0.5
