  • The causes of motor burnout include overload, phase loss, restraint, interlayer short circuit, winding ground fault, instantaneous overvoltage, and the rotor contacting the stator, leading to insulation breakdown, leading to breakdown or electrical accidents. Therefore, equipment failure causes not only loss due to cost required for equipment maintenance/repair, but also huge economic loss due to productivity decrease due to process stop because the process itself including the motor is stopped. The current level of technology for diagnosing motor failures uses vibration, heat, and power analysis methods, but there is a limit to analyzing the problems only after a considerable amount of time has passed according to the failure. Therefore, in this paper, a device and algorithm for measuring insulation resistance using DC AMP signal was applied to an industrial motor to solve this problem. And by following the insulation resistance state value, we propose a diagnosis of deterioration and failure of the motor that cannot be solved by the existing method.

  • In this paper, inter-turn fault diagnosis of the interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) is performed in offline state by linking the finite element analysis (FEA) tool and control simulation tool. In order to diagnose the inter-turn fault, it is important to select the current value to determine the fault. First, the basic principles for inter-turn fault diagnosis of IPMSM are explained and co-analysis model for fault diagnosis is constructed. Further, in order to select the appropriate high frequency voltage, the change of the current value to be judged as failure was analyzed at various voltage and frequency conditions, and the change of the current value according to the number of the failed windings was analyzed. Finally, the current value to be judged as failure is selected.

  • Colorectal cancer (CRC), the third most common cancer in the world, has no specific biomarkers that facilitate its diagnosis and subsequent treatment. The miRNAs, small single-stranded RNAs that repress the mRNA translation and trigger the mRNA degradation, show aberrant levels in the CRC, by which these molecules have been related with the initiation, progression, and drug-resistance of this cancer type. Numerous studies show the microRNAs influence the cellular mechanisms related to the cell cycle, differentiation, apoptosis, and migration of the cancer cells through the post-transcriptionally regulated gene expression. Specific patterns of the upregulated and down-regulated miRNA have been associated with the CRC diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutic response. Concretely, the downregulated miRNAs represent attractive candidates, not only for the CRC diagnosis, but for the targeted therapies via the tumor-suppressing microRNA replacement. This review shows a general overview of the potential uses of the miRNAs in the CRC diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment with a special focus on the downregulated ones.

A development of Diagnosis Monitoring System for UPS DC Link Capacitors using Zigbee Wireless Communication (Zigbee 무선통신을 이용한 UPS DC링크 커패시터의 고장 모니터링 시스템 개발)

  • Electrolytic power capacitors have been widely used in power conversion system such as inverter or UPS because of characteristics of large capacitance, high-voltage and low-cost. The electrolytic capacitor, which is most of the time affected by the aging effect, plays a very important role for the power-electronics system quality and reliability. Therefore it is important to diagnosis monitoring the condition of an electrolytic capacitor in real-time to predict the failure. In this paper, the on-line remote diagnosis monitoring system for UPS DC link electrolytic capacitors using low-cost single-chip zigbee communication modules is developed. To estimate the health status of the capacitor, the equivalent series resistor(ESR) of the component has to be determined. The capacitor ESR is estimated by using RMS computation using BPF modeling of DC link ripple voltage/current. Zigbee-based hardware experimental results show that the proposed remote capacitor diagnosis monitoring system can be applied to UPS successfully.

  • DC bus electrolytic capacitors are used in variety of equipments as smoothing element of the power converters because it has high capacitance for its size and low price. It is responsible for frequent breakdowns of many static converters and inverter drive systems. Therefore it is important to diagnosis monitoring the condition of an electrolytic capacitor in real-time to predict the failure of power converter. In this paper, the on-line remote diagnosis monitoring system for DC BUS electrolytic capacitors of power converter using low-cost type Zigbee communication modules is developed. To estimate the health status of the capacitor, the equivalent series resistor(ESR) of the component has to be determined. The capacitor ESR is estimated by using RMS computation using AC coupling method of DC link ripple voltage/current. The Zigbee communication-based experimental results show that the proposed remote DC capacitor diagnosis monitoring system can be applied to DC/DC converter and UPS successfully.

  • Urban rail transit brings the benefits of various aspects of society. With the advent of fast and large trains, however, risk and scale of accidents have increased. Despite the fact that there is various safety features built into the modern metros, train faults happen from time to time. Especially, as urban railway vehicles in Korea have become deterioration rapidly, more advanced diagnosis methods are required to prevent various accidents. In this paper, we present diagnosis method for electrical wires to guarantee secure driving and authenticity more accurately in urban railway vehicles. Although there are kinds of conventional methods based on insulation resistance measurement and withstand test, it is extremely difficult to effectively diagnose obsolete equipments such as electrical wires and cables not new ones. This study is focused on development of diagnosis method and establishment of evaluation standard for electrical wires in urban railway vehicles.

Serial Communication-Based Fault Diagnosis of a BLDC Motor Using Bayes Classifier

  • This paper presents a serial communication based fault diagnosis scheme for a brushless DC (BLDC) motor using parameter estimation and Bayes classifier. The presented scheme consists of a smart network board, and a fault detection and isolation (FDI) master. The smart network board is installed near the BLDC motor drive system to acquire motor data and transmit motor data to the FDI-master via serial communication channel. The FDI-master estimates BLDC motor resistance to detect symptom of faults, and assign symptom to fault type using Bayes classifier. In this scheme, since communication time delay has a serious effect on performance, periodic and fixed communication protocol is designed. Hence, the delay time is priory known. By experiment result, presented scheme was verified.

  • This paper represents our efforts to diagnose nutrient stresses using physiological instruments in cucumber plants. The stresses could be detected by measuring and analyzing the difference of chlorophyll content, photosynthetic efficiency(Fv/Fm), differential temperature(DT), stomatal resistance and light absorbance values between deficient and controlled plants. From the all over experiments, the stresses could be first diagnosed in the 8th day after treatment and the overall diagnosis rate was estimated at more than 50%.

  • The usefulness of malaria diagnosis by Plusmodium JaLcipawn-GDH (NADP+), obtained by affinity chromatography. is demonstrated in ELISA assays, testing IgG antibodies against GDH (NADP+) from patients with acute malaria, who have had two or more episodes of malaria. or from sera of hyperimmune patients. GDH (NADP+) thermal stability was demonstrated in a high heat resistance assay. The immunofluorescence assay demonstrated that anti-culture (P. falciporum) supernatant serum and anti-GDH (NADP+) of Proton app. recognized epitopes in Venezuelan isolates and Colombian and Brazilian malarial strains. The antigen is soluble, with high specificity is a potent imnlunogen and is thermoresistant.
