  • PURPOSE. The present study was aimed to evaluate the influence of implant contact ratio and stiffness of implant-surrounding materials on the resonance frequency analysis (RFA) values. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Seventy resin blocks that had the different amounts (100, 50, 30, 15%) of resin-implant contact (RIC) were fabricated. Ten silicone putty blocks with 100% silicone-implant contact were also made. The implants with ${\phi}5.0mm{\times}13.0mm$ were placed on eighty specimen blocks. The RFA value was measured on the transducer that was connected to each implant by Osstell Mentor. Kruskal-Wallis and Scheffe's tests (${\alpha}$=.05) were done for statistical analysis. RESULTS. The control resin group with 100% RIC had the highest RFA value of 83.9, which was significantly different only from the resin group with 15% RIC among the resin groups. The silicone putty group with 100% contact had the lowest RFA value of 36.6 and showed statistically significant differences from the resin groups. CONCLUSION. Within the limitations of this in vitro study, there was no significant difference in the RFA values among the resin groups with different RIC's except when the RIC difference was more than 85%. A significant increase in the RFA value was observed related to the increase in stiffness of material around implant.

  • The ion exchange resins were synthesized from 1-aza-18-crown-6 macrocyclic ligand attached to styrene (2th petroleum in 4th class hazardous material) divinylbenzene (DVB) copolymer with crosslinks of 1%, 6%, and 15% by substitution reaction. These synthetic resins were confirmed by chlorine content, elementary analysis, surface area, and IR-spectrum. The object of this study was to seperate the metal ion absorbed in reinforcement water fire extinguishing agent. As the results of the effects of pH, equilibrium arrival time, and crosslink of synthetic resin on metal ion adsorption for resin adsorbent, the metal ions were showed high adsorption at pH 3 or over and adsorption equilibrium of metal ions was about 2 hours. In addition, adsorption selectivity for the resin in water was the order of Al (III) > Ni (II) > Sm (III) ions, adsorbability of the metal ions was in the crosslinks order of 1%, 6%, and 15%.

  • The purpose of this research is to investigate the utilization of recycled fine aggregates as a material to apply to a building finished walls or as a decorating material in combination with a polymer. The strengths of two resin mortars using recycled fine aggregates and natural fine aggregates was made. In order to improve the workability and the strength of the resin mortar with recycled fine aggregates, partial replacement of recycled fine aggregates with natural ones was made with the application of various type of fillers. The results, it show that the compressive strength and flexural strength of resin mortar using the recycled fine aggregates were about 70% to 100% of those of resin mortar using natural fine aggregates. It was enough to assure the utilization of the recycled fine aggregates as a material for the production of resin mortar. From the result of partial replacement of recycled fine aggregates with natural ones, the compressive strength was Increased from 5% to 15% and the flexural strength was much as 5% to 20% as a result of 70% substitution It was also found that the use of garnet powder shows a similar tendency in the compressive strength and slag powder does in the flexural strength and tensile strength.

  • In this paper, study on the properties of the thermal degradated epoxy resin which is used in indoor insulation apparatus is performed to investigate the problems of the decreasing insulation characteristics and crack in the indoor insulation apparatus. As a parameter of variation, SEM, contact angle, surface resistivity, relative dielectric constant and weight loss are measured. As the results of the above measurements, the contact angle and surface resistivity of the epoxy resin has increased to 200$^{\circ}C$ in but at the above 200$^{\circ}C$ the values have decreased. The relative dielectric constants the thermal treated samples have increased on with the temperature increase. We find the volatile components of the epoxy resin compound has disappeared during thermal degradation by SEM. The insulation properties of the epoxy resin have increased by the 200$^{\circ}C$ but decreased in the above 200$^{\circ}C$.

  • The aim of this study was to compare wear resistance of resin denture teeth opposing various restorative materials. The wear resistance of conventional acrylic resin teeth(Trubyte Biotone) and three high-strength resin teeth(Bioform IPN, Endura, SR-Orthosit-PE) opposing different restorative materials(gold alloys, dental porcelain, composite resin) was compared. Wear tests were conducted with a sliding-induced wear testing apparatus which applied 100,000 strokes to the specimen in a mesio-distal direction under conditions of 100 stroke/min and constant loading of 1Kgf/tooth. Wear resistance of the resin denture teeth was evaluated by the following criteria : 1) wear depth, 2) weight loss, and 3) SEM observation. Results were as follows. 1. When opposed to gold alloys and composite resin, high-strength resin teeth showed superior wear resistance compared to acrylic resin teeth. But, in cases opposing dental porcelain, differences between the wear of the high-strength and acrylic resin teeth were not statistically significant (p<0.05). 2. When comparing wear resistance among high-strength resin teeth, opposing gold alloys, Endura was slightly more resistant and while in cases opposing dental porcelain, SR-Orthosit-PE was showed to be slightly resistant(p<0.05). 3. The wear of high-strength resin teeth was greater by 5 to 7 times when opposing porcelain and 2 to 3 times when opposing composite resin compared to gold alloys(p<0.05). 4. SEM observations of the wear surface showed that wear of resin teeth opposing gold alloys is a fatigue type of wear and wear of resin teeth opposing dental porcelain is fatigue and abrasion type of wear. Trubyte Biotone showed more severe fatigue type of wear than high-strength resin teeth. In conclusion, the use of dental porcelain should seriously be considered as restorative material in cases opposing resin denture teeth and improvement seems to be needed on resin teeth in the areas of wear resistance.

  • Recently, high performance microelectronic devices are designed in multi-layer structure in order to make dense wiring of metal conductors in compact size. Imprint lithography have received significant attention due to an alternative technology for photolithography on such devices. In this work, we synthesized dielectric composite materials based on epoxy resin, and investigated their thermal stabilities and dynamic mechanical properties for thermal imprint lithography. In order to enhance the mechanical properties and toughness of dielectric material, various modified polyetherimide(PEI) was applied in the resin system. Curing behaviours, thermal stabilities, and dynamic mechanical properties of the dielectric materials cured with various conditions were studied using dynamic differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA), and Universal Test Method (INSTRON).

  • Statement of problem : Removable partial denture and complete denture often require denture base relines to improve the fittness against tissue-bearing mucosa because of the gradual change in edentulous ridge contour and resorption of underlyng bony structure. Self-curing hard reline resins offers the immediate and relatively inexpensive means to be recondition the surface of denture base directly However weak bond between denture base resin and reline material can harbor bacteria, promote staining, or result in complete separation of the two materials. Purpose : The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of denture cleansers on bond strength and surface hardness of reline resin to denture base resin Denture base resin beams($60.0{\times}15.0{\times}3.0mm$) were made with Lucitone 199. Material and methods : 10mm section was removed from the center of each specimen. The samples were replaced in the molds and the space of l0mm sections were packed with Tokuso Rebase reline material. The specimens were immersed in denture cleansers (Polident, Cleadent) and were evaluated after 1 week, 2 weeks, and 4 weeks. The bond strength and surface hardness of self-curing hard reline materials to heat-curing denture base resin were measured using an UTM (universal testing machine). Results and conclusion : 1) There was no significant difference of usage, kind, and denture cleaner by application time on the bonding strength of self-curing hard reline resin to denture base resin. 2) There was no significant difference of usage, kind, and denture cleaner by application time on the surface hardness, but the surface hardness showed decreasing tendency, as the time of immersion was extended. 3) The failure modes of the specimens was initially adhesive failure and finally cohesive failure of self-curing hard reline resin.
