A method was developed to determine resilient modulus for crushed rock-soil mixtures whose usage has been increased recently without engineering specifications. The method is based on the subtle different modulus called nonlinear dynamic modulus and was lately implemented in residual soils and engineered crushed-stones. Hereby. the same method was expanded to crushed rock-soil mixtures containing as large grain diameter as 300mm. The method utilize field direct-arival tests for the determination of maximum Young's modulus, and a large scale free-free resonant column test, which is recently developed to is capable to test as large grain diameter as 25mm, for modulus reduction curves. The prediction model of resilient modulus was evaluated for crushed rock-soil mixtures of a highway construction site at Gimcheon, Korea.

Overlay routing has emerged as a promising approach to improve reliability and efficiency of the Internet. The key to overlay routing is the placement and maintenance of the overlay infrastructure, especially, the selection and placement of key relay nodes. Spurred by the observation that a few relay nodes with high betweenness centrality can provide more optimal routes for a large number of node pairs, we propose a resilient routing overlay network construction method by introducing Super-Relay nodes. In detail, we present the K-Minimum Spanning Tree with Super-Relay nodes algorithm (SR-KMST), in which we focus on the selection and connection of Super-Relay nodes to optimize the routing quality in a resilient and scalable manner. For the simultaneous path failures between the default physical path and the overlay backup path, we also address the selection of recovery path. The objective is to select a proper one-hop recovery path with minimum cost in path probing and measurement. Simulations based on a real ISP network and a synthetic Internet topology show that our approach can provide high-quality overlay routing service, while achieving good robustness.

Recent advances in video coding technology have resulted in rapid growth of application in mobile communication, With this explosive growth reliable transmission and error resilient technique become increasingly necessary to offer high quality multimedia service. In this paper, we present the result of our investigation on the error resilient performance evaluation of the MPEG-4 simple profile under the H.324/M and the H.264/AVC baseline under the IP packet networks. Especially, we have tested error resilient tools of MPEG-4 simple profile such as resynchronization marker insertion, data partitioning, and of H.264/AVC baseline such as the flexible macroblock ordering (FMO) scheme. The objective quality of decoded video is measured in terms of rate and PSNR under various random bit and burst error conditions.
The resilient modulus model of EPS geofoam to be used for a flexible pavement design was developed. In this study, the model was applied to design the flexible pavement and to predict the magnitude of the deformation of EPS geofoam blocks as a subgrade in the flexible pavement structure by using the resilient modulus model of EPS geofoam (RMEG) program. The RMEG program presented how much the EPS geofoam subgrade settled over the designed duration and the AASHTO flexible pavement design equation with the resilient modulus of EPS geofoam noted that how long the flexible pavement endured under traffic loads with 70% reliability for the estimated duration with less than 5mm vertical deformation during 20.6 years without the significant pavement distress as a substitute material for the natural soils.

The resilient modulus which is presented mechanical properties of compacted subbase material is the design parameter on the Mechanistic - Empirical pavement design guide. The compaction control method on the Mechanistic - Empirical pavement design guide will be the way to confirm whether the in-situ elastic modulus measured after the compaction meets the resilient modulus which is applied the design. The resilient modulus in this study is calculated by the neural network suggested by Korea Pavement Research Program, and degree of compaction as the existing compaction control test and plate bearing capacity test(PBT) was performed to confirm whether the in-situ elastic modulus is measured. The Light Falling Weight Deflectometer(LFWD) is additionally tested for correlation analysis between each in-situ elastic modulus and resilient modulus, and is proposed correlation equation and test interval which can reduced overall testing cost. Also, the subbase compaction control procedure based on the in-situ elastic modulus is proposed using the in-situ PBT and LFWD test result.
PURPOSE. The purpose of this study was to investigate the bonding properties of denture bases to silicone-based soft denture liners immersed in isobutyl methacrylate (iBMA) and 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) for various lengths of time. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) test specimens were fabricated (75 mm in length, 12 mm in diameter at the thickest section, and 7 mm at the thinnest section) and then randomly assigned to five groups (n=15); untreated (Group 1), resilient liner immersed in iBMA for 1 minute (Group 2), resilient liner immersed in iBMA for 3 minutes (Group 3), resilient liner immersed in HEMA for 1 minute (Group 4), and resilient liner immersed in HEMA for 3 minutes (Group 5). The resilient liner specimens were processed between 2 PMMA blocks. Bonding strength of the liners to PMMA was compared by tensile test with a universal testing machine at a crosshead speed of 5 mm/min. Data were evaluated by 1-way ANOVA and post hoc Tukey-Kramer multiple comparisons tests (${\alpha}$=0.05). RESULTS. The highest mean value of force was observed in Group 3 specimens. The differences between groups were statistically significant (P<.05), except between Group 1 and Group 4 (P=.063). CONCLUSION. Immersion of silicone-based soft denture liners in iBMA for 3 minutes doubled the tensile bond strength between the silicone soft liner and PMMA denture base materials compared to the control group.

This paper reports the test results of the floating floor system used to reduce the floor noise of apartment buildings. Recently, many soft resilient materials placing between the reinforced concrete slab and finishing mortar are used. The resilient material should not only reduce the floor impact sound vibration from the floor but also support the load on the floor. Thus, even if soft resilient materials satisfy the maximum limitation of light-weight impact sound and heavy-weight impact sound, these materials may not support the load on the floor. The experimental program involved conducting sixteen sound insulation floating floor specimens. Three main parameters were considered in the experimental investigation: resilient materials, loading location, and layers of floor. Experimental results indicated that the stiffness of resilient material significantly influenced on the structural behavior of floating floor system. In addition, the deflection of the floating concrete floor loaded at the side or coner of the specimen was greater than that of the floor loaded at the center of the specimen. However, the aerated concrete did not effect on the cracking strength of floating floor system.
PURPOSE. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of paracetic acid (PAA) and ozone disinfection on the tensile bond strength (TBS) of silicone-based resilient liners to acrylic resins. MATERIALS AND METHODS. One hundred and twenty dumbbell shaped heat-polymerized acrylic resins were prepared. From the mid segment of the specimens, 3 mm of acrylic were grinded off and separated parts were reattached by resilient liners. The specimens were divided into 2 control (control1, control7) and 4 test groups of PAA and ozone disinfection (PAA1, PAA7, ozone1 and ozone7; n=10). While control groups were immersed in distilled water for 10 min (control1) and 7 days (control7), test groups were subjected to PAA (16 g/L) or ozone rich water (4 mg/L) for 1 cycle (10 min for PAA and 60 min for ozone) per day for 7 days prior to tensile tests. Measurements of the TBS were analyzed using 3-way ANOVA and Tukey's HSD test. RESULTS. Adhesive strength of Mollosil decreased significantly by application of ozone disinfection. PAA disinfection had no negative effect on the TBS values of Mollosil and Molloplast B to acrylic resin. Single application of ozone disinfection did not have any negative effect on TBS values of Molloplast B, but prolonged exposure to ozone decreased its adhesive strength. CONCLUSION. The adhesion of resilient liners to acrylic was not adversely affected by PAA disinfection. Immersion in ozonated water significantly decreased TBS of Mollosil. Prolonged exposure to ozone negatively affects adhesion of Molloplast B to denture base materials.
Design and analysis of road subgrade system, which is exposed to repetitive loading condition, uses resilient modulus. The behavior of railway subgrade system will not be quite different from that of road system. Following this phenomenological feature of the subgrade system, this paper introduces the implementation of the resilient modulus based constitutive model on a commercial finite element software. The implementation of the resilient modulus models such as K-${\theta}$ and Uzan on a FE program has been conducted previously. These model assumes that the material state reaches to the nonlinear elastic condition and with further application of repetitive loads, the response of material is completed in elastic condition. According to the recent test results performed on cohesive subgrade soils, however, permanent deformation occurs with repetitive loads. With aids of previously suggested models the permanent deformation cannot be modeled. To overcome such limitation a plastic potential derived from the test results and simple failure criterion based constitutive model is developed. The comparison between the analysis and test results shows a good correlation.
