  • This study aims to analyze the impact of learners' usability perceptions of topic modeling-based visual feedback and generative AI interpretation on reflection levels in online discussions. To achieve this, we asked 17 students in the Department of Korean language education to conduct an online discussion. Text data generated from online discussions were analyzed using LDA topic modeling to extract five clusters of related words, or topics. These topics were then visualized in a network format, and interpretive feedback was constructed through generative AI. The feedback was presented on a website and rated highly for usability, with learners valuing its information usefulness. Furthermore, an analysis using the non-parametric Mann-Whitney U test based on levels of usability perception revealed that the group with higher perceived usability demonstrated higher levels of reflection. This suggests that well-designed and user-friendly visual feedback can significantly promote deeper reflection and engagement in online discussions. The integration of topic modeling and generative AI can enhance visual feedback in online discussions, reinforcing the efficacy of such feedback in learning. The research highlights the educational significance of these design strategies and clears a path for innovation.

  • This study collected 1,870 English news articles related to research and development of autonomous vehicles in order to identify various issues emerging in the research and development process of autonomous vehicles at home and abroad, and conducted topic modeling after data pre-processing. As a result of topic modeling, we extracted 20 topics, and we performed naming operations for topics and interpreted their meanings. A logical model for autonomous vehicle research and development projects was presented in response to the R&D process of input, activity, output, and outcome of derived topics. The analysis results of this study will be used as basic data to accurately determine the progress of domestic and foreign self-driving car research and development projects and prepare for the rapidly changing technology development.

  • Korean healing research has developed over the past 20 years along with the growing social interest in healing. The field of healing research is diverse and includes legislated natural-based healing. In this study, abstracts of 2,202 academic journals, master's, and doctoral dissertations published in KCI and RISS were collected and analyzed. As for the research method, LDA topic modeling used to classify research topics, and time-series publication trends were examined. As a result of the study, it identified that the topic of Korean healing research was connected with 5 types and 4 mediators. The five were "Healing Tourism," "Mind and Art Healing," "Forest Therapy," "Healing Space," and "Youth Restoration and Healing," and the four mediators were "Forest," "Nature," "Culture", and "Education". In addition, only legalized healing studies extracted from Korean healing research and the topics were analyzed. As a result, legalized healing research classified into four. The four types were "Healing Spatial Environment Plan", "Healing Therapy Experiment", "Agricultural Education Experiential Healing", and "Healing Tourism Factor". Forest Therapy, which has the largest amount of research in legalized healing, Agro Healing and Garden Healing which operate similar programs through plants, and Marine Healing using marine resources also analyzed. As a result, topics that show the unique characteristics of individual healing studies and topics that are considered universal in all healing studies derived. This study is significant in that it identified the overall trend of research on Korean healing facilities and programs by utilizing LDA topic modeling.

  • As topics of researchers become diverse horizontally or vertically, academic libraries have difficulties to identify the dynamic change of researchers' needs for academic publications. This research aims to illustrate the topic areas of researchers in a department of university by analyzing bibliographies of their publications. First, researchers' publications were used to discover the topic areas where the researchers had published. Second, the cited publications in those papers were analysed to identify the expanded topic areas of these researchers. Finally, highly cited journals were analyzed by network analysis method. The major finding is that the importance of topic areas by the number of journals was not necessarily proportional to that by the number of papers. Researchers have a tendency to use many papers in a small number of journals in a certain topic area. Furthermore, the importance of topic areas discovered by researchers' publications was not the same as that discovered by researchers' citations.

  • The objective of this study is to examine the trends in information systems research. The abstracts of 1,245 articles were extracted from three leading Korean journals published between 2002 and 2016: Asia Pacific Journal of Information Systems, Information Systems Review, and The Journal of Information Systems. Time series analysis and topic modeling methods were implemented. The topic modeling results showed that the research topics were mainly "systems implementation", "communication innovation", and "customer loyalty". The time series regression results indicated that "customer satisfaction", "communication innovation", "information security", and "personal privacy" were hot topics, and on the other hand, "system implementation" and "web site" were the least popular. This study also provided suggestions for future research.

  • In this study, we aimed to understand research trends of domestic artificial intelligence research. To achieve the goal, we applied network analysis and dynamic topic modeling to domestic research papers on artificial intelligence. Among the papers that have been indexed in KCI (Korean Journal of Citation Index) by 2020, metadata and abstracts of 2,552 papers where the titles or indexed keywords include 'artificial intelligence' both in Korean and English were collected. Keyword, affiliation, subject field, and abstract were extracted and preprocessed for further analyses. We identified main keywords in the field by analyzing keyword co-occurrence networks as well as the degree and characteristics of research collaboration between domestic and foreign institutions and between industry and university by analyzing institutional collaboration networks. Dynamic topic modeling was performed on 1845 abstracts written in Korean, and 13 topics were obtained from the labeling process. This study broadens the understanding of domestic artificial intelligence research by identifying research trends through dynamic topic modeling from abstracts as well as the degree and characteristics of research collaboration through institutional collaboration networks from author affiliation information. In addition, the results of this study can be used by governmental institutions for making policies in accordance with artificial intelligence era.

  • The goal of this paper is to explore the field of Computer and Information Science with the aid of text mining techniques by mining Computer and Information Science related conference data available in DBLP (Digital Bibliography & Library Project). Although studies based on bibliometric analysis are most prevalent in investigating dynamics of a research field, we attempt to understand dynamics of the field by utilizing Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA)-based multinomial topic modeling. For this study, we collect 236,170 documents from 353 conferences related to Computer and Information Science in DBLP. We aim to include conferences in the field of Computer and Information Science as broad as possible. We analyze topic modeling results along with datasets collected over the period of 2000 to 2011 including top authors per topic and top conferences per topic. We identify the following four different patterns in topic trends in the field of computer and information science during this period: growing (network related topics), shrinking (AI and data mining related topics), continuing (web, text mining information retrieval and database related topics), and fluctuating pattern (HCI, information system and multimedia system related topics).
