Climate technology applied to address climate change requires a comprehensive review such as environmental and social acceptability in addition to economic feasibility. Not only mitigation and adaptation technologies, but also integration of climate technologies into a business model with other relevant technologies including ICT, finance, and policy instruments could enhance technical, economic, and environmental performances to respond to climate changes. However, many climate projects (and business models) are currently not designed to consider adequately complex climate?related issues. In addition, there is a lack of research on assessment systems that can comprehensively evaluate business feasibility of such models. In this study, we developed a system consisting of nine major indicators in four fields to assess climate technology-based business models. Each indicator was weighed using the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) for systematic assessment of business models. The process can be utilized as a tool to guide improvement of climate technology business models.
The Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute is participating as a South Korean partner in the Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS)of NASA. In response, the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute is currently conducting basic research for the development of four candidate instrument payloads. The magnetic field instrument is one of them and it's scientific mission objective is the moon's surface magnetic field investigation. Therefore, the development requirement of the lunar surface magnetic field instrument were derived and the initial conceptual design was started. The magnetic field instrument has a 1.2 meter boom which has two three-axis fluxgate magnetometer sensors and one gyro sensor to get a attitude information of the boom. The concept of measuring the lunar surface magnetic field will carry out using multiple sensors by placing semiconductor type magnetic field sensors inside the electric box including boom mounted fluxgate sensors. In order to overcome the very short development period, we will use the KPLO (Korean Lunar Pathfinder Orbiter) magnetometer design and parts to improve reliabilities for this instrument. In this presentation, we introduce the instrument requirements and conceptual design for the Lunar surface magnetic field instruments.

This paper presents the results of research on developing marine unified communications to provide VoIP service based on marine satellites. With the recent popularity of smart-phones and other mobile devices, the demand for Internet-based wired and wireless unified technology has been growing in marine environments, and increasing interest is being directed to VoIP products and service models with high price competitiveness and the ability to deliver a variety of services. In this regard, this research designed three instruments, developed their unit modules, and verified their performances. These three instruments included the following: (1) a marine VoIP module equipped with an analogue gateway that can be linked to the existing devices used in vessels, which is more than 80% smaller than that of a land system; (2) a text/voice/video engine for marine satellite communications that runs on technology that minimizes communication data usage, which is a core technology for a marine VoIP service; and (3) a unified communication service that can support multilateral cloud-based message conversations, telephone number-based call functions, and voice/video calling between a private space in a ship and shore.

Objectives: Direct reading instruments (DRIs) are widely used by industrial hygienists and other experts for preliminary survey and identifying source locations in many industrial fields. Photoionization detectors (PIDs), which are a form of hand-held portable DRIs, have been used for a variety of airborne vaporized chemicals, especially evaporated hydrocarbon solvents. The benefits of PIDs are high sensitivity between each chemical, competitive price, and portability. With the goal of increasing the accuracy of logged PID concentrations, previous studies have performed tests for the assessment of single chemical compounds, not mixtures. The purpose of this preliminary study was to measure mixtures with a PID and charcoal tube at the same time and compare the accuracy between them. Methods: A chamber test was implemented with different mixtures of hydrocarbon chemicals (acetone, isopropyl alcohol, toluene, m-xylene) and levels in the range of 14 to 864 ppm. Three PIDs and charcoal tubes were connected to the chamber and measured the chemical mixtures simultaneously. A comparison of accuracy and the PID group of concentrations with manufacture correction factor (M_CF) and field correction factor (F_CF) applied was performed. Results: The accuracy of the PID concentrations data-logged from the PID did not meet the accuracy criteria except for the mixture level B and C logged from PID No. 2, which was 18% of all tests for meeting accuracy criteria. The mean and standard deviation (SD) of concentration (ppm) of the charcoal tube followed by each mixtures' level were 10.37±0.26, 155.33±5.28, 300.80±11.65, and 774.93±22.65, respectively. When applying F_CF into the PID concentrations, the accuracy increased by nearly 82%. However, in the case of M_CF, none met the accuracy criterion. Between the PID there were differences of logged concentrations. Conclusions: In this preliminary study, the concentration of a logged PID with F_CF applied was a better way to increase accuracy compared to applying M_CF. We suggest that additional research is necessary to consider environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.
It has been noted that a genetic alteration of cells influenced by unhealthy lifestyle In addition to a series of other carcinogens increases various neoplasmic diseases. Therefore the importance of lifestyle that minimizes such impact on health should be emphasized. Since stomach cancer, the most common neoplasmic disease in Korea, is re-lated to the Korean lifestyle and as there's a possibility of its recurrence, people with stomach cancer need to lead a healthy lifestyle. The purpose of this study is to provide a basis for nursing intervention strategies to promote health promoting behaviors that are constructive to a healthy lifestyle. A multivariate model was constructed based on the fender's health promotion model and Booker's health belief model by including influential factors such as hope. The sample was composed of 164 patients with stomach cancer who visited outpatient clinics of a university hospital in Seoul. The following instruments were used in the study after some adaptation : Wallston and others' multidimensional health locus of control scale Laffrey's health conception scale, Lawston and others' health self- rating scale, Walker and others' health promotion lifestyle profile and Rogenberg's self esteem scale. In addition Moon's health belief scale was used with some modification. For self efficacy, the present author constructed a self-efficacy scale based on previous research. The above mentioned instruments were tested in a pilot study with 24 patients with stomach cancer. The reliabilities of instruments were tested with Cronbach's alpha(0.574∼0.949). Data were analyzed using a SAS program (or Pearson correlation coefficients, descriptive correlational statistics and stepwise multiple regression. The results are as follows : 1. The scores on the health promoting behavior scale ranged from 55 to 145 with a mean of 107.91 (S. D : 16.50). The mean scores(range 1-4) on the different dimensions were nutrition 3.14, exercise 2.48, stress management 2.69, health responsibility 2.65, interpersonal relationship 2.878E self actualization 2.85. 2. There were significant correlations among all the predictive variables & the health promoting behavior (r=.20-.55, p〈.01) 3. Stepwise multiple regression analysis showed that : 1) Hope was the main predictor and accounted for 29.8% of the total variance. 2) Self efficacy, perceived barriers & self esteem accounted for an additional 14.6% of the total variance. 3) Hope, self efficacy, perceived barriers & self esteem altogether accounted for 44.3% of the total variance. In conclusion, hope, self efficacy, perceived barriers & self esteem were identified as important variables that contributed to promote health promoting behavior.
Purpose: This research provided basic data for refraction by comparing the corrected diopter of trial lens and phoropter. Methods: We compared the corrected diopter of trial lens and phoropter, and analyzed statistical significance and relations of the spherical lens corrected diopter and cylindrical lens corrected diopter according to the types (trial lens and phoropter) of subjective refractive instruments. Also we analyzed statistical significance and relations between cylindrical lens corrected diopter at the astigmatism and the types (trial lens and phoropter) of subjective refractory instruments. Results: When we measured the corrected diopter of simple myopia, the mean value for corrected diopter was S-2.74D using the trial lens and S-2.65D using the phoropter. So the corrected diopter was 0.09D smaller when measured by phoropter. The degree of astigmatism was measured C-0.81D using the trial lens and C-0.77D using the phoropter which showed that the measured value was 0.04D smaller using the phoropter. On correlation analysis between the refractive instruments (trial lens and phoropter) and the corrected diopter, there was significant (p<0.01) strong correlation between refractory machine and corrected spherical diopter (r=0.996) and the correlation between refractory machine and corrected cylindrical diopter was r=0.986 and was also significant (p<0.01). Conclusions: The use of phoropter than trial lens was more desirable when performing refraction on high myopia (simple refractive error, high astigmatism), and when using trial lens, you should consider the vertex distance and the gap between overlapped lenses before prescription.

Objectives : The aim of this study is to review the instruments used to assess patient condition and the effects of Korean medical treatment for patients injured in traffic accidents in clinical studies in the Korean medical field published in South Korea. Methods : A literature study was performed, and clinical studies on patients injured in traffic accidents visiting Korean medical clinics or hospitals were examined. Data about chief complaints, tools used to assess either patients' condition or the effectiveness of Korean medical treatment, and time point of assessment were extracted. The studies were classified according to symptom. The use-frequency and the parent category of the assessment tools were also analyzed. Results : 78 studies were selected and classified into 5 categories based on the chief complaints, neck pain, lower back pain, headache, psychological symptoms and unspecified symptoms. Various scales were used to report the patient's pain severity, and functional or psychological status resulting from traffic accidents. Pain index, in particular VAS, was most frequently used and a few mechanical instruments and Korean medicinal assessment tools were mentioned. Conclusion : Most instruments used in Korean medicine clinical studies on patients injured in traffic accidents are self-reported tools. To assess both the patient's condition precisely and the effectiveness of Korean medical treatment on patients injured in traffic accidents, more appropriate and unified tools should be designed that consider pain, functional disability, psychological status and objective assessments measured by devices together.
This article aims to analyze main features of activation policy and compare major programmes in terms of their impact on employment performances in Korea. Since the introduction of National Basic Living Security Act in 2000, a series of activation policies have been in place for social assistance recipients, low-income employees, and youth unemployed by means of providing tailored employment and social services via in-depth counselling and case management. These activation policies carry both enabling and demanding elements: requiring programme participation in exchange for public assistance benefit receipts on the one hand, and providing various social services to remove barriers to employment through case management on the other hand. Therefore, it merits attention to analyze how various features of activation programmes affect employment outcomes, the effectiveness of delivery system and policy instruments as well. In analyzing employment outcomes of activation policy of which main characteristics lie in provision of employment and social services, this article points out the features and policy instruments of the activation policy that contribute to labor market entry of public assistance recipients and low income employees. In addition, it also delineates the determinants of exit from benefit receipts. Results from statistical analysis show that activation policy with intense employment service helps both benefit recipients and low income employees enter into the labor market at a faster rate. However, tailored social service provision enables social assistance recipients to exit from benefit receipts. These results suggest theoretical and policy relevant implication in regards to redesigning the delivery mechanisms and service instruments of activation policy.

Objectives: Objective of this study is to review briefly exposure characteristics, monitoring instruments and threshold limit values for extremely low frequency-magnetic field (ELF-MF) methods. This study was undertaken through brief literature review. We performed a literature search in PubMed to identify ELF-MF studies conducted in workplaces. Initial search keywords such as 'extremely low frequency-magnetic field (ELF-MF)' and 'electromagnetic fields (EMF)' combined or singly. We limited our review to occupational rather than general nonworkplace environmental exposures. Methods: The contents we reviewed: key industry and occupations generating ELF-MF, several direct-reading instruments monitoring ELF-MF and threshold limit values (TLV) preventing health effects may be caused by the exposure to ELF-MF. Results: The industries related to the generation and supply of electricity, electrolytic installations, welding, and induction heating and more were regarded as high ELF-MF exposure industries. All jobs handling or employed performed in power cable lines, electrical wiring, and electrical equipment are found to be exposed to ELF-MF. Threshold or ceiling limit, 1,000 µT, is established to prevent acute effects of exposure to low-frequency EMFs on the nervous system: the direct stimulation of nerve and muscle tissues and the induction of retinal phosphenes. The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has classified ELF-MF as possibly carcinogenic to humans chiefly based on epidemiological studies on childhood leukemia. However, a causal relationship between magnetic fields and several types of cancer including childhood leukemia has not been established nor has any other long-term effects. Risk management using precautionary measures, has been initiated by the US and EU to prevent chronic health effects related to ELF-MF exposure in workplaces. Conclusion: This study recommends the implementation of various measures such as theestablishment of occupational exposure limit values for ELF-MF and precautionary principle to prevent potential chronic occupational health effects may be caused by ELF-MF in Korea.

In this study, we derived the characteristic factors of the cluster as measurable variables, and attempted to clarify the characteristics of the apparel sewing areas in Changsin-dong, Doksan-dong, and Jangwi-dong. Based on these results, a comparative analysis was conducted to see how the demand for the government's support policy differs for each agglomeration area. Materials were collected through face-to-face questionnaires targeting tenant companies in the three regions. As a result of the analysis, Changsin-dong was identified as an "innovative growth type," Doksan-dong as a "networking type," and Jangwi-dong as a "specialized localization type." As a result of the research on policy demands, the policy demands of the three agglomerations appeared different, but Changsin-dong preferred capacity building, Doksan-dong preferred information provision, and Jangwi-dong favored policy means of benefit. It was confirmed that even among clusters of the same apparel sewing industry, the formation process and characteristics are different, and as a result, the demand for policy instruments is also different. Policy recommendations include understanding the characteristics and policy demands of each agglomeration area through periodic fact-finding surveys, and recommending the establishment and implementation of differentiated support policies that match the characteristics of each agglomeration area.
