  • The purpose of this study is to develop a method of applying response surface analysis to trade-off techniques for the conceptual design of armored vehicle. The problem areas of concern are the use of this method in the selection of optimum design points when user requirements are in conflict. The application of this method to trade-offs of performance parameters in terms of weight are presented.

  • The trade-off studies in the concept development stage to assess the relative goodness of alternative systems concepts for AE (architect engineering) design for the Barge Mounted SMR (BMSMR) is introduced. With respect to design margin, system performance, schedule and risk, the design selection is cond ucted using the following characteristics; barge mobility, system safety under the natural disaster (seismic), power output, interfacing with the other system, and the additional supporting functions as desalination. There are three findings that should be remedied; deficiencies in the assumed characteristics of the system being modeled, deficiencies in the test model, and excessively stringent system requirements. This study is performed using systems engineering approach with trade off matrix method. In order to execute this work, concept development stage is divided into three (3) phases as NA (needs analysis), CE (concept exploration), and CD (concept definition).

  • The purpose of this study is to develop and illustrate methods of applying trade-off techniques to landing craft air cushion design evaluation. The problem areas of concern are the application of quantitative analytical methods to conceptual design. The interrelationships between composite system measures and selected performance requirements(speed, cruising range, cargo etc.) are analyzed and the expressions for gross weight are developed as functions of performance parameters. Trade-offs of performance parameters in terms of weight are then calculated. The application of these results to evaluation of Require Operational Capabilities are illustrated.

  • This paper treats the implementation of concurrent engineering principles for ROC development of a future infantry fighting vehicle. Based on the acquisition process of weapon systems and operational requirements provided by users, Quality Function Deployment(QFD) is used to translate the requirements of the user into specific trade-off analysis. Results of these studies and the use of concurrent engineering principles are presented.

  • 핵연료주기 분석 연구는 핵연료주기 단계에서 기술들을 분석하고 요건들을 도출하여 국가적 핵연료주기 정책 설정 및 추진을 체계적으로 수행하기 위한 연구이다. 시스템 분석 기술은 대상 시스템의 비교 분석 평가에 활용되며 핵연료주기를 대상으로 하는 경우 각 국가 또는 관심 범위에 따라 다양한 방법이 사용된다. 본 연구에서는 국내 선진 핵연료주기 개발을 위해 필요한 핵연료주기 분석 전략과 함께 이를 위해 사용될 수 있는 분석 기술들을 제시하였다. 핵연료주기 분석은 전략적으로 기술적 분석, 국내외 이해관계, 국가 에너지 프로그램과 연계되어야 한다. 이를 위해 다양한 핵연료주기를 비교하여 제시된 평가 지표에 따라 분석하는 연구는 트레이드 연구 방법을 적용하여 수행할 수 있다. 본 연구를 통한 조사 분석 결과 핵연료주기 분석 전략과 함께 방법적 측면에서 트레이드 연구가 선진 핵연료주기 도출에 활용될 수 있을 것으로 파악되었다. 트레이드 연구에 필수적인 평가지표를 선정하고 각 지표별 핵연료주기에 대한 정보를 얻기 위해서는 기술성숙도 분석 방법과 핵연료주기 시뮬레이터를 활용할 수 있을 것으로 제시하였다. 이들은 핵연료주기의 기술성, 경제성, 환경영향성 등을 비교 평가하여 기술개발을 위한 방향을 제시하고 체계적인 선진 핵연료주기 도출 및 실현에 기여할 것이다.

중형 헬리콥터 로터 시스템 개념설계 연구 (A Study of the Conceptual Design of Medium Size Utility Helicopter Rotor System)

  • This paper describes the conceptual design of medium size helicopter rotor system. Based on assumed design requirements, trade-off study for rotor configuration has been conducted in terms of rotor tip speed, disk loading, blade area, solidity, etc for estimated primary mission gross weight. For the main rotor, four-blade and five-blade rotors are studied with the conventional tail rotor. The performance analysis for baseline configuration is conducted using a helicopter performance analysis program. The analysis shows design results satisfy the design requirements.

  • 아키텍처는 시스템의 품질 속성과 요구사항 그리고 비즈니스 목적 달성을 위해 이루어지는 중요한 설계 결정들의 집합으로 현재 소프트웨어 공학 프로세스에서 필수적으로 다루어지는 과정 중 하나이다. 최근 소프트웨어가 사용되는 컨텍스트와 개발 환경이 크게 변화하면서 복잡한 요구사항을 다루고 시스템의 품질 속성을 달성하는 것이 더욱 중요해지고 있다. 하지만 아키텍처 설계가 많은 부분에 있어 아키텍트의 직관에 의존하고 있으며 재사용 가능한 아키텍처 패턴을 설계에 적용할 때 패턴 스키마가 통일되지 않고 사용자 관점에서 표현되어지지 않아 비교 분석에 어려움을 겪고 있다. 본 논문은 아키텍처 패턴을 사용자 관점에서 재해석하여 품질 속성 요구사항과의 간격을 줄여주는 새로운 스키마를 제안한다. 또한 스키마로 재구성한 패턴 모델을 이용해 아키텍처 설계의 가장 중요한 요인인 품질속성이 설계 결정에 어떤 영향을 주는지 트레이드 오프를 고려한 패턴 추천 방법을 제안 한다.

  • A construction temporary work is main process and importance trade section. A technology system of construction temporary has very low availability of field works and needs improvements in Korea as construction site has a quick response about new requirements. This study reviews literature researches and can verify that changes to a comprehensive technology system for construction site. In addition, it suggests a breakdown structure of new standards for temporary construction technology based on views of construction site managers. Meanwhile, temporary construction technology in Korea has changed with a specification of construction temporary work which had been revised in 2014. However, the revision is merely dividing the design and building off of construction temporary technology. It is lacking in many ways to change this in a new standard system for temporary construction technology. Henceforth, it needs to develop a standard system for temporary construction technology and a professional system that is appropriate for different purposes by detail trade sections.

  • The Multi-Spectral Camera (MSC) is the payload of KOMPSAT-2 which is designed for earth imaging in optical and near-infrared region on a sun-synchronous orbit. The telescope in the MSC is a Ritchey-Chretien type with large aperture. The telescope structure should be well stabilized and the optical alignment should be kept steady so that best images can be achieved. However, the MSC is exposed to adverse thermal environment on the orbit which can give impacts on optical performance. Solar incidence can bring non-uniform temperature rise on the telescope tube which entails unfavorable thermal distortion. Three ways of preventing the solar radiation were proposed, which were installing external mechanical shield, internal shield, and maneuvering the spacecraft. After trade-off study, internal sun shield was selected as a practical and optimal solution to minimize the effect of the solar radiation. In addition, detailed designs of the structure and sunshield were produced and analyses have been performed. The results were assessed to verify their impacts to the image quality. It was confirmed that the internal sunshield complies with the requirements and would improve image quality.

Delay-Constrained Energy-Efficient Cluster-based Multi-Hop Routing in Wireless Sensor Networks

  • Energy efficiency is the main objective in the design of a wireless sensor network (WSN). In many applications, sensing data must be transmitted from sources to a sink in a timely manner. This paper describes an investigation of the trade-off between two objectives in WSN design: minimizing energy consumption and minimizing end-to-end delay. We first propose a new distributed clustering approach to determining the best clusterhead for each cluster by considering both energy consumption and end-to-end delay requirements. Next, we propose a new energy-cost function and a new end-to-end delay function for use in an inter-cluster routing algorithm. We present a multi-hop routing algorithm for use in disseminating sensing data from clusterheads to a sink at the minimum energy cost subject to an end-to-end delay constraint. The results of a simulation are consistent with our theoretical analysis results and show that our proposed performs much better than similar protocols in terms of energy consumption and end-to-end delay.
