Treatment of solid waste building materials is a crucial method of disposal and an area of ongoing research. New standards for the treatment of solid waste building materials are necessary due to multisource features, huge quantities, and complicated compositions of solid waste. In this research, sustainable nanomaterial mixtures containing nano-paper waste (NPW) and nano-metakaolin (NMK) were used as a substitute for Portland cement. Portland cement was replaced with different ratios of NPW and NMK (0%, 4%, 8%, and 12% by weight of cement) while the cement-to-water ratio remained constant at 0.4 in all mortar mixtures. The fresh properties had a positive effect on them, and with the increase in the percentage of replacement, the fresh properties decreased. The results of compressive strength at 7 and 28 days and flexural strength at 28 days show that the nanomaterials improved the strength, but the results of NMK were better than those of NPW. The best replacement rate was 8%, followed by 4%, and finally 12% for both materials. The combination of NMK and NPW as a replacement (12% NMK + 12% NPW) showed less shrinkage than the others because of the high pozzolanic reactivity of the nanomaterials. The combination of NMK and NPW improved the microstructure by increasing the hydration volume and lowering the water in the cement matrix, as clearly observed in the C-S-H decomposition.

When only partial information is available about equipment failures (installation date and amount, as well as failure and replacement rates), data on sufficiently large number of yearly populations of the components can be combined, and estimation of model parameters may be possible. The parametric models may then be used for forecasting of the system's short term future failure and for formulation of replacement strategies. We employ the Weibull distribution and show how we estimate its parameters from past failure data. Using Monte Carlo simulations, it is possible to assess confidence ranges of the forecasted component performance data.
This research investigates the rheological behavior and the confined water ratio of the cement paste and binder condition in order to predict mix design proportion of the high flowing concrete. The purpose of this study is to determine the optimum replacement ratio of binders including fly ash, and lime stone powder by the cement weight. For this purpose, belite cement, blast furnace slag cement and ordinary portland cement are selected. As test results, the confined water ratio shows the following range ; OPC>blast furnace slag cement>belite cement. Therefore, belite cement is proved very excellent cementitious materials in a view point of the flowability. The optimum replacement ratio of lime stone powder is shown over $30\%$ in case of belite cement and about $10\%$ in case of slag cement type. Also, the optimum replacement ratio of fly ash is shown $30\%$ by the cement weight considering the confined water ratio and deformable coefficient of the paste condition.

This study presents the effect of incorporating metakaolin (MK) on the mechanical and durability properties of high strength concrete for a constant water/binder ratio of 0.3.MK mixtures with cement replacement of 5, 10 and 15 % were designed for target strength and slump of 90 MPa and $100{\pm}25mm$. From the results, it was observed that 10 % replacement level was the optimum level in terms of compressive strength. Beyond 10 %replacement levels, the strength was decreased but remained higher than the control mixture. Compressive strength of 106 MPa was achieved at 10 % replacement. Splitting tensile strength and elastic modulus values have also followed the same trend. In durability tests MK concretes have exhibited high resistance compared to control and the resistance increases as the MK percentage increases. This investigation has shown that the local MK has the potential to produce high strength and high performance concretes.
With an increased use of alternative aggregate due to exhaustion of quality aggregate resources, the amount of used crushed aggregates have been increased and as a result, development of admixture materials has also been improved and its amount of use is increasing from day to day in order to secure quality in concrete. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to make concrete of good quality by using chemical admixture developed in this study by replacement rate of fine aggregate. At first, susceptibility, compressive strength ratio and length change ratio in both fresh and hardened concrete were evaluated according to corresponding regulation. As for high performance related regulation, APC NO.3 and PC series were going to rule, and as for AE agent regulation, replacement ratio of fine aggregate of high performance chemical admixture was 10:0 and other chemical admixture met quality regulation for AE agent.
This paper presents the results of experimental work on both mechanical properties and durability of concrete or mortar incorporating silica fume. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of replacement of silica fume on the performance of hardened concrete or mortar. The replacement levels of silica fume that replaced cement in this work were 0%, 5%, 10% and 15%, respectively. The results of this study indicate that both mechanical properties and durability of concrete are greatly dependent on the replacement levels of silica fume. As the replacement level of silica fume increased, the mechanical properties including compressive and flexural strengths, and static modulus of elasticity were proportionally enhanced. Furthermore, it was found that silica fume had some beneficial effects on the resistances to both chloride ions penetration and sodium sulfate attack. However, it exhibited poor resistances to both freezing-thawing action and magnesium sulfate attack.
The effects of replacement level, curing method and chemical admixtures were investigated in the cement-fly ash paste. The strength of cement-fly ash paste is lower than that of controlled cement paste only and the differences increase with replacement level. However, in steam curing, strength of cement-fly ash pastes is improved, especially, at early ages. In order to improve early strength, the use of $Na_2SO_4$in cement-fly ash paste increases the quality of concrete. In addition, improvement of strength of concrete including 30% of fly ash can be obtained and achieves the highest strength compared to other concrete mixtures.
The hydroxyapatite with different amounts of strontium was synthesized with wet chemical technique. The structural, morphological and chemical characterizations for the prepared hydroxyapatite with various strontium amounts were carried out with XRD, SEM, EDS, and FT-IR. Strontium is quantitatively incorporated into hydroxyapatite where its substitution for calcium provokes a well distribution in the EDS mapping and a linear shift of the infrared absorption bands of the hydroxyl and phosphate groups, coherent with the greater ionic radius of strontium.
In this study we conducted computer simulation with FDS V4.0.5 for the subway carriage of Seoul Metro to the replacement of interior materials. We tried to use the real data for the simulation by testing the interior materials in our Lab. From the result of the simulation we could confirm the fire resistance of the new interior replaced car to the chosen arson scenario case.
Conformity between the femoral component and tibial insert within the knee replacement may be measured in frontal or sagittal view, and shows differences in the curvature radius of the femoral component depending on the flexion angle, i.e., curvature radius has a complex effect on contact stress. Therefore, it is essential to confirm how the curvature radius effects contact stress, and provide an important variable to reduce contact stress. This study correlated contact stress with curvature radius measured in frontal and the sagittal views and confirmed the effect of curvature radius for assessment of the Newly Designed Unicompartment Knee Replacement (NDUKR). Finite element models were constructed for NDUKR and $Zimmer^{(R)}$ Unicompartment High Flex Knee Replacement system (ZUKR), incorporating the curvature radius as measured in either frontal or sagittal view. The femoral component had 1200N of compressive load applied approximately 1.65xbody weight. Contact stress was predicted at flexion angles $0^{\circ}C$, $30^{\circ}C$, $60^{\circ}C$, $90^{\circ}C$ and $120^{\circ}C$, for NDUKR: 42, 47.7, 47.7, 51.2, and 54.1 MPa, and ZUKR: 41.2, 49.5, 53.2, 54.3, and 57.4 MPa, respectively. Correlation analysis showed the influence of curvature radius measured from the sagittal view was larger than for frontal view.
