IT Model to Calculate Required Equipments for Excavation Work in Construction Projects

  • Excavation is most commonly used activity in all construction projects. All contracting agencies prefer to use bigger and heavier excavators and dumpers on site to do excavations if quantity of excavation is huge. Estimation of required number of excavators and dumpers for completion of excavation could be rather a tedious process involving repetitive calculation on which professionals spend their valuable time. As the Information Technology is highly involved in construction section there os need to have IT model for estimation of number of excavators and dumpers. The developed model is useful to calculate required equipments within short period of time. The purpose of the developed IT model is to save the time and efforts of the construction professional. The paper discusses about model which can be used on site to estimate numbers of excavators and dumpers required for completion of certain quantity of excavation within the given time. The calculation considers various existing formulas and method to generate the output. This information could certainly be useful in planning equipments on construction project sites. The tool is user friendly where any non IT background person can use it on construction sites.

소프트웨어 개발비 기준의 애플리케이션 유형과 품질 및 특성 보정요소 개선 (Improving the Application Type and Quality/Characteristics Adjustment Factors of the Korea Software Cost Estimation Standard)

  • As software development and maintenance cost increase quickly, information systems managers are more concerned about how to effectively manage software cost. To estimate the software development cost, most public institutes of Korea use the software cost estimation standard established by the government. Unfortunately, the accuracy of the estimation derived from the standard has not been satisfactory in spite of repetitive modifications made to improve it. One of the major reasons for the inaccuracy is that the standard has too small a number of cost adjustment factors to reflect the various characteristics of a software development project. To remedy this problem, we propose new cost adjustment factors which can be incorporated into the standard and are important to enhance the estimation accuracy, based on the analysis of several well-known software estimation models. Furthermore, by applying the proposed model to real world software projects, we show that the proposed model can produce more accurate estimates than the current standard.

Automatic wall slant angle map generation using 3D point clouds

  • Recently, quantitative and repetitive inspections of the old urban area were conducted because many structures exceed their designed lifetime. The health of a building can be validated from the condition of the outer wall, while the slant angle of the wall widely serves as an indicator of urban regeneration projects. Mostly, the inspector directly measures the inclination of the wall or partially uses 3D point measurements using a static light detection and ranging (LiDAR). These approaches are costly, time-consuming, and only limited space can be measured. Therefore, we propose a mobile mapping system and automatic slant map generation algorithm, configured to capture urban environments online. Additionally, we use the LiDAR-inertial mapping algorithm to construct raw point clouds with gravity information. The proposed method extracts walls from raw point clouds and measures the slant angle of walls accurately. The generated slant angle map is evaluated in indoor and outdoor environments, and the accuracy is compared with real tiltmeter measurements.

  • 최근 건설사업은 건축, 토목, 기계, 전기, 조경 등의 모든 분야를 포함하는 복합 건설사업으로 추진되고 있고 대형화, 고층화 되어감에 따라 반복공정이 증가하게 되면서 작업 연속성 확보를 통한 목표공기를 달성하는 TACT 공정관리기법이 대두되고 있다. TACT기법은 반복작업의 자원을 효율적으로 활용하기 위해 작업과 작업이 단절되지 않도록 일정한 작업흐름을 유지할 수 있지만 CPM기법에 의해 수립된 네트워크가 아니기 때문에 전진계산, 후진계산, Critical Path 관리, 여유시간을 알 수 없어 체계적인 공정관리라 할 수 없다. 본 연구에서는 공동주택의 마감공사 TACT 공정계획을 기존의 엑셀(Excel), PDM기법 기반의 공정관리소프트웨어인 Primavera(P6), 새로운 공정관리기법 BDM기법 기반의 공정관리소프트웨어인 Beeliner로 작성 및 운영하는 방법들을 비교분석함으로써 BDM기법에 의한 TACT 공정계획 수립 및 운영상 적용성을 제시하고자 한다.

  • 건축 프로젝트에서 BIM 도입이 활성화되고 있으나 단순 반복적인 모델링 작업과 잦은 설계 오류는 BIM의 실무 활성화의 방해요소로 잔존해 있다. 특히, 건축 내부 마감부재는 가장 많은 상세화 요구사항을 포함하고 있는 만큼 설계품질 확보를 위해 모델링 효율성 증대 및 설계 오류 해결이 중요하다. 효율성 증대를 위한 방안으로 최근 실무에서는 BIM 소프트웨어에 특화된 비주얼 프로그래밍 툴을 활용한 모듈을 개발하여 일련의 반복적인 모델링 작업을 자동화하는 시도가 이루어지고 있다. 그러나 기존의 모듈 개발은 실무적 요구사항을 반영하지 않고 단순히 반복 작업을 대체하는 것에만 집중하고 있기 때문에, 실무 활용도가 떨어지거나 적용 결과물에 대한 전면적인 재검토가 필요한 문제점이 존재하였다. 본 연구는 실무에서 인력 투입량이 가장 많으면서도 오류가 빈번하게 발생하는 벽, 바닥, 천장 부재를 대상으로 비주얼 프로그래밍 기반 자동 상세화 모듈을 구축하였다. 성능 검증을 위해 구축된 모듈을 계획설계 단계의 근린생활시설 BIM 모델에 적용하였으며, 검토 결과 실무적 요구사항이 적절히 반영되었고 수작업 모델링에서 발생하는 오류사항이 적절히 해결된 것으로 확인되었다.

실내공간에 나타난 데페이즈망 기법의 표현특성 - 파비오 노벰브레와 마르셀 반더스의 실내디자인 사례를 중심으로 - (Expressive Characteristics of Depaysement in Interior Space - Focused on the Interior Projects by Fabio Novembre and Marcel Wanders -)

  • I paid attention to the fact that surrealism emerging in early 20th century has been resurfacing in the 21st century. It may be because of the increasing interest on the space showing the surrealistic features as people in these days prefer the experimental and dramatic space beyond repetitive daily life. I tried to identify the expressive characteristics in the interior space adopting the depaysement technique among a variety of expression techniques of surrealism. To this end, this paper selected 10 interior design projects by Fabio Novembre and Marcel Wanders since 2000s. As the methodology, chapter 2 examined the theories to identify the expression targets and approaches of depaysement around the art paintings. Next, the standard for case analysis in this paper was established by investigating the existing theses related to interior and space design with depaysement as the key word. The expressive characteristics of depaysement identified from the existing researches were classified into morphological, figurative, material and space program. Those programs were developed as the classification system in this paper. Chapter 3 described the design background and features of Fabio Novembre and Marcel Wanders. On the basis of the features and analysis framework identified in chapter 2 and 3, chapter 4 analyzed the features of depaysement observed in the works by both designers. The conclusion was presented in chapter 5. For the expressive characteristics of depaysement observed in the space by both designers, Novembre created optical illusion using distortion or overlap on the morphological aspect. Wanders showed mainly the feature of changing the scale. In accordance with the analysis on expression principles, the features including spatial continuity, ambiguity of border, visual amusement and uncertainty were differentiated in all spaces.

국가연구개발사업 성실실패제도 개선방안 (Improved Solutions for Honorable Failure Policy on National R&D Projects)

  • 최근 도전적이고 창의적인 연구의 중요성이 증가함에 따라, 모험적 연구가 요구되고 있으나 이에 따른 실패의 경우, 이를 보호할 수 있는 제도적 장치가 미비하여 그 정착이 시급한 실정이다. 이러한 문제점을 해소할 수 있도록 '국가연구개발사업의 관리 등에 관한 규정'에서 성실실패제도가 명시되어 있으나, 그 기준이 명확하지 않고 세부적인 규정이 마련되어 있지 않았으며 이로 인해 각 전문기관들이 상이하게 운영하고 있어 연구자들의 혼란이 가중되고 있다. 이에 따라 본 연구는 현재의 성실실패제도와 관련하여 현행 실태와 해외사례 등을 검토하여, 성실여부 판정기준, 평가주체의 상이성, 실패의 인정 및 그에 따른 해당연구 결과의 활용방안의 미비점, 제재감면 범위의 불명확성, 반복적 성실실패에 대한 검증 및 방지 방안의 부족으로 요약되는 문제점들을 도출하여 분석하고, 그에 대한 개선점을 국내외 사례를 비교분석하여 그 안을 제시하였다.

총괄계획가 시범사업에서 주민참여 기본계획 사례연구 - 홍성 오누이권역을 대상으로 - (A Case Study on Resident Participative Primary Design of Integrated Rural Development Project with Master Planner - Onui Area in Hong Seong -)

  • The aim of this study is to establish resident-participative primary design of integrated rural development project with master planner by setting principals of open competition and transparent decision-making about village-to-village or business-to-business unit enterprise in Onui area, Hong-seong Gun. For effective processing, software projects such as residents education and rural landscape planning are simultaneously conducted for enhancing project understanding and comprehensive development plan including related post project. Above all, competition teams for individual project were organized to establish the resident-participative primary design using survey tables of residents demand. In 6 months resident-participative processing of primary design, continuous education and visiting to advanced area are conducted in team unit. Strengthened ability of team unit can be used in management and maintenance after project development. To do this, residents with the same opinions gathered as one competition team and identified business plans such as village asset, business location, size, program, and method for land securing. Favorable decision-making process by residents who are audience in project presentation of competition team has conducted. After selecting competition teams, continuos consulting are operated for establishing operation and management for developed or remodeled facilities through repetitive education and visiting advanced area. In this process, unit project suggested by competition team are completed. Preliminary selection was conducted by experts who were entrusted by residents. After residents agreement of project main stream such as major facilities and location, final detailed cost of projects are work out. Suggested process in this study which choose the final project by residents would improve residents' voluntary participation in integrated rural development project through open competition in establishing primary design.

재해분석을 통한 농업토목공사의 공종별 위험성 평가 (Risk Assessment of Agricultural Construction Works using Accident Analysis and Analytic Hierarchy Process)

  • The accident risk at the construction workplace associated with agricultural engineering is comparatively higher than those of other fields due mainly to its complex work types and processes. Agricultural engineering deals with a variety of agricultural infrastructures from irrigation and drainage facilities to giant-scale coastal reclamation land infrastructures. The characteristics that most agricultural projects have conducted on a small-scale even worsen the situation drawing low attentions to risk management. Therefore, systematical risk assessment that focuses on details of agricultural construction work process is required in order to enhance safety management capacity and to prevent repetitive accidents ultimately. This study aims to categorize construction work types and processes of agricultural construction works, and to quantitatively assess the accident risk of them based on accident analysis. Regarding classification of construction works, actual 827 accident cases were thoroughly reviewed and coded by their construction site, facility and work type, project scale and so on. Most accidents (71.8 % of total cases) occurred in small-scale construction workplaces with less than 5 billion Korean won project budget. And those accidents related to agricultural infrastructure project (37.4%) and agricultural water development project (22.4%). In terms of work types, accidents frequently took place in form-work followed by pipe installation work, steel bar work and concrete work. The potential risks were compared with actual outbreak of accidents based on Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). The results show that the potential conditions of accident expected to be took place is somewhat different from the actual conditions where accidents actually happened. This implicates that risk management manuals or education needs to be adjusted by reflecting unexpected circumstances. Overall, this study is meaningful in that the results could be foundations as to strengthen risk management capacity for agricultural engineering projects.

일제하 양배수장형 수리조합에서의 양수기술과 단위용·배수량의 변천 (리뷰 논문) (Transition of Pumping Technology, Irrigation Water Requirement, and Unit Area Drainage Discharge at Pumping Station-based Irrigation Associations in South Korea during Japanese Colonial Period (in Review))

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate transition of pumping technology, irrigation water requirement, and unit area drainage discharge at the Pumping station-based Irrigation Associations (PIAs) in South Korea during Japanese colonial period (1910-1945). The PIAs established pumping stations and embankments along rivers for the purpose of irrigation, drainage and flood prevention until the mid-1920s. From the late 1920s after major river improvement projects, newly established PIAs did not include the flood prevention in their purpose of establishment. The design criteria of the irrigation and drainage projects, such as irrigation water requirements, design rainfall, and allowable ponding duration were decided according to the circumstances of PIAs. The gross irrigation water requirement of paddy fields increased from the 1920s to the 1940s, and reached the level of 0.0020 m3/s/ha (19 mm/d) in the 1940s for the fairly good irrigation status in the drought. The great floods of 1930, 1933, and 1934 triggered the increase in drainage discharge in the late 1930s, leading to the unit area drainage discharge of 0.9-2.6 m3/s/km2 for natural drainage and 0.3-1.1 m3/s/km2 for pump drainage. Therefore, several PIAs near the major rivers could avoid repetitive floods damage.
