  • The advance of wireless telecommunication and observation technologies leads developing sensor and sensor network for serving the context information continuously. Besides, in order to understand and cope with the context awareness based on the sensor network, it is becoming important issue to deal with plentiful data transmitted from various sensors. Therefore, we propose a context awareness system to deal with the plentiful sensor data in a vast area such as the prevention of a forest fire, the warning system for detecting environmental pollution, and the analysis of the traffic information, etc. The proposed system consists of the context acquisition to collect and store various sensor data, the knowledge base to keep context information and context log, the rule manager to process context information depending on user defined rules, and the situation information manager to analysis and recognize the context, etc. The proposed system is implemented for managing renewable energy data management transmitted from a large scale area.

  • Sensor networks are usually composed of tens or thousands of tiny devices with limited resources. Because of their limited resources, many researchers have studied on the energy management in the WSNs(Wireless Sensor Networks), especially taking into account communications efficiency. For effective data transmission and sensor fault detection in sensor network environment, a new remote monitoring system based on PCA(Principle Component Analysis) and AANN(Auto Associative Neural Network) is proposed. PCA and AANN have emerged as a useful tool for data compression and identification of abnormal data. Proposed system can be effectively applied to sensor network working in LEA2C(Low Energy Adaptive Connectionist Clustering) routing algorithms. To verify its applicability, some simulation studies on the data obtained from real WSNs are executed.

  • This study proposes a remote monitoring of patients and emergency notification system with a camera and pulse wave sensor for U-Healthcare. The proposed system is a server client model based U-Healthcare system which consists of wireless clients that have micro-controller, embedded-board for patient status monitoring and a remote management server. The remote management server observes the change of pulse wave data individually in real-time sent from the clients that is to be remote-monitored based on the pulse wave data stored by users and divides them into caution section and emergency section. When the pulse wave data of a user enters an emergency situation, the administrator can make a decision based on the real-time image information and pulse rate variability. When the status of the monitored patient enters the emergency section, the proposed U-healthcare system notifies the administrator and relevant institutions. An experiment was conducted to demonstrate the pulse wave recognition of the proposed system.

  • This paper suggests the vehicle remote control on the basis of Smart Phone. In general, most smart phone is mounted with G-sensor to control the motion. G-sensor is able to control several directions and movements of velocity along with X, Y, and Z axis. To access remote location and data system, we can also utilize Wi-Fi communication as well as bluetooth communication. In this study, we propose the scheme that is the car management application by remote control via real-time monitoring on mobile device for user convenience.

  • Mobile Mapping Systems using the vehicle equipped the GPS, IMU, CCD Cameras is the effective system for the management of the road facilities, update of the digital map, and etc. They must provide users with the sensor data which is acquired by Mobile Mapping Systems in real-time so that users can process what they want by using the latest data. But it' s not an easy process because the amount of sensor data is very large, particularly image data to be transmitted. So it is necessary to reduce the amount of image data so that it is transmitted effectively. In this study, the effective method was suggested for the compression/decompression image data using the Wavelet Transformation and Huffman Coding. This technique will be possible to transmit of the geographic information effectively such as position data, attitude data, and image data acquired by Mobile Mapping Systems in the wireless internet environment when data is transmitted in real-time.

다중센서 기반의 하이브리드 조명제어 시스템 (The Hybrid Lighting Control System on Multiple Sensor)

  • 본 논문에서는 다중센서 기반의 하이브리드 조명제어 시스템을 제안한다. 제안된 하이브리드 조명제어 시스템은 가로등의 관리 및 제어를 위한 데이터 표시부와 데이터 변환 및 처리부, 게이트웨이의 통신부로 구성하여 설계한다. 데이터는 실시간으로 저장이 가능하도록 DB를 설계하고, 실시간으로 무선 원격제어 및 스케줄을 설정하여 모니터링 할 수 있도록 구현한다. 제안된 하이브리드 조명제어 시스템의 효율성 검증결과, 스마트 기기 및 포터블 PC 등과 연동하여 실시간 모니터링 및 원격 조명제어가 가능하였고, 결과적으로 에너지 절감 및 전기료 감소, 통신비용 감소 효과를 얻을 수 있었다.

고신뢰 무선센서네트워크를 이용한 실시간 수질 모니터링 시스템 (Real-time Water Monitoring System for Small Water Supply Facility using High Reliable Wireless Sensor Network)

  • In this paper, real-time water quality monitoring system of small water supply facilities based on IEEE 802.15.4e-2012 DSME MAC and IEEE 802.15.4g-2012 PHY standard is presented, which is capable to acquire for highly reliable water quality information in the wide outdoor areas for effective water quality management of small water quality facilities is distributed in the long distance and remote areas. Previously, Long distance transmission is difficult in most water quality sensor module is using RS-485 protocol. But with this system, even in harsh outdoor environment, it is possible to establish a radio wave sensor in a wide area network, and not only water quality sensor shall be connected to the wireless system, but also wireless integrated management system shall provide more effective way of management of the numerous small water supply facilities spread throughout the community, so that the administrator can remotely monitor the data of water turbidity, pH, residual chlorine in the water-supply, water-level, and generate alarm to cope with risks. The management of small water facilities is done by residents will be very effective to notice water quality information of small water facilities to residents.

  • Context-awareness techniques in ubiquitous computing environment provide various services to users who need to get information via the analysis of collected information from sensors in a spatial area. Context-awareness has been increased in ubiquitous computing and is applied to many different applications such as disaster management system, intelligent robot system, transportation management system, shopping management system, and digital home service. Many researches have recently focused on services that provide the appropriate information, which are collected from Internet by different kinds of sensors, to users according to context of their surrounding environment. In this paper, we propose an abstraction model to manage the large-scale contextual information and their metadata which are collected from different kinds of in-situ sensors in a spatial area and are presented them on the web. This model is composed of the modules expressing functional elements of sensors using sensorML(Sensor Model Language) based on XML language and the modules managing contextual information, which is transmitted from the sensors.

USN 기술을 이용한 공기압축기 원격관리 시스템 설계 (A Design of Air Compressor Remote Control System Using USN Technology)

  • Compressed Air is an important energy source used in most factories nowadays. The automation trend using air compressor has been gradually increasing with the interest of the 4th industry in recent years. With the air compressor system, it is possible to construct the device at low cost and easily achieve automation and energy saving. In addition, With trend of FA, miniaturation and light weight manufacturing trend expand their use in the electronics, medical, and food sectors. Research method is to design the technology for the remote control of the following information as USN base. Development of flexible sensing module from real time observation module for fusion of IT technology in compressed air systems, design and manufacture of flexible sensing module, and realiability assessment. Design of real-time integrated management system for observation data of compressed air system - Ability to process observation data measured in real time into pre-processing and analysis data. This study expects unconventionally decreasing effect of energy cost that takes up 60~70% of air compressor layout and operation and maintenance management cost through USN(Ubiquitous Sensor Network) technology by using optimum operational condition from real time observation module. In addition, by preventing maintenance cost from malfunction of air compressor beforehand, maintenance cost is anticipated to cut back.

USN 기반의 지하역사 모니터링 시스템의 설계 및 개발 (Design and Development of Monitoring System for Subway Station based on USN)

  • 본 논문은 지하철 역사의 쾌적한 환경 유지를 위한 USN 기반의 환경 모니터링 시스템에 관한 내용을 수록하고 있다. 개발된 시스템은 통합 센서 장비 기반의 센서 필드, 측정된 센서 장비의 데이터를 수집, 분석, 저장하는 미들웨어, 수집된 데이터를 사용자에게 서비스하는 로컬 및 웹 기반 모니터링 시스템으로 구성되어 있다. 본 논문에서는 환경 측정을 위해 온/습도, 미세먼지 센서와 선로의 청결 유지 관리를 위한 물탱크의 수위 레벨 센서를 기본적인 실험환경으로 구성하였고, 기존 설치된 센서와의 연동을 위한 4~20mA의 아날로그 센서와 지그비(Zigbee) 기반 센서 네트워크 장비인 Telos-b를 연동한 장치로 구성하여 현장에 기 구축된 센서의 재사용이 가능하도록 하였다. 미들웨어는 멀티 홉 센서 네트워크를 통한 데이터 수집과, 수집된 데이터를 분석, 저장하는 기능을 내장하였고, 모니터링 시스템은 상황실을 위한 로컬 모니터링과 원격지에서의 웹 기반 모니터링을 지원한다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 미들웨어와 모니터링 시스템은 컴포넌트 형태로 구성되어 개발된 센서의 종류가 변경되거나 응용 프로그램의 목적이 변경되어도 재사용할 수 있는 장점을 가진다. 개발된 시스템은 기존의 PLC 기반의 시스템과 비교하였을 때, 센서 장치의 이동성과 시스템의 분산 환경을 지원하고 미들웨어에서 지원하는 데이터 수집 및 관리 기능은 각종 통계자료로 활용이 가능하다.
