코메니우스의 범지주의적 교육학과 과학교육의 사상적 기원에 관한 문제 (Comenius' Pansophism as a Historical Origin of Science Education)

  • One of the historical origins of the modern science education was investigated in this paper. From the view point of the pansophistic educational philosophy which emphasized "man should teach completely all things to all mankind(Omnes, Omnia, omnino)", J.A.Comenius proposed in his book "Didactica magna"(1658) that 'physica' should be learned as one of the most important school subjects. He suggested the completion of human being as a wholeness of the universe could be achieved through the physics teaching. His ideas of science education was, however, directed not to the 'rational konwledge' about the natural world, but to the 'divine wisdom'. His main thoughts and influences on science education can be summarized as follows: 1) The human being as a God's image should know the divinely created nature, because the invisible God's existence can be sensorially recognized in the nature. 2) Physics or science should be regarded as more important objects than verbal learning in general school education. 3) The cognitive union between the words('representative' or 'das Dargestellte') and things('presentative' or 'das Dargebotene') can be achieved through the objects lesson ('Anschauungsunterricht') 4) The realistic and sensor-cognitive learning theory of the object lesson is yet very important especially in the science education of elementary school, even though the inquiry learning process has became more important in the last years. 5) The religious aspect of his idea could not satisfy the social needs of industrialization and the development of professonal technics in the 18 to 19th century.

잠언서에 나타난 유대인의 지혜교육 (Jewish Education of Wisdom shown in the book, the Proverbs)

  • The Jews had lives of diaspora for almost 2000 years dispersed all around the world. But they had gotten together and reestablished the nation Israel. The fundamental power of reunification came from the spirit of their through education. The contents of their education are based on the Bible. Among the Bilble, the three books, the Job, the Ecclesiastes and the Proverbs are called the books of liberary works. And the book, the Proverbs written by King Solomon is famous for the teachings of wisdom. It contains ethical instructions, religious advice, wisdom and all the teachings in the way of life. Even though it lacks some elements of vital wits in modern feelings, its rich understanding and teachings of life overwhelm all the western and oriental readers. This thesis studied the meaning of wisdom in the Proverbs and Jewish teachings of it and its need and how to apply it to our practical life today.

의과대학생들의 생명 개념 인식에 관한 탐색적 연구 (Explanatory Study of Medical Students' Perception of Life Concept)

  • This study surveyed 506 medical students on their perception of life concept using an open-ended questionnaire. A constant comparative analysis of participants' written responses was conducted. The results revealed 3 main types and several sub-types of life concept. The main types included: humanities & sociology type, scientific type, and humanities sociology & science mixed type. The humanities & sociology type had 6 sub-types: religious values, ethical values, limited time, social characteristics, consciousness spirit soul, and mixed type. The scientific type had 4 sub-types as follows: respiration & metabolism, genetic & reproduction, homeostasis & emergent property, and mixed type. The most prevalent type was the perception that life concept, ethical values in humanities & sociology type. The understanding of the concept of life is essential to medical students' learning and improvement of professional competence. These results may suggest a meaningful direction for medical education regarding the concept of life.

  • 계룡산에는 상이한 종교(또는 이념) 집단들이 다양한 의미와 가치를 부여하며 이용해 온 공간과 장소들이 있다. 불교와 유교 그리고 무속을 포함하는 민간 신앙들은 자기 고유의 영역과 정체성을 생산하고 관리하기 위하여 제각기 다른 이념(또는 세력)을 구현하여 왔다. 무속을 중심으로 하는 저항의 지리는 계룡산 전역에 걸쳐 불연속적인 영역을 기반으로 진행되어 왔다. 이러한 저항의 지리가 가장 뚜렷하게 확인되는 지점은 삼불봉, 암용추, 숫용추 등이다. 지금까지 무속과 불교의 공간적이고 시간적인 뒤엉킴을 통하여 피지배 세력인 무속이 생존하여 왔던 것이다.

가파도 커뮤니티공간의 변천특성에 관한 연구 (Characteristics on Transformation of Community Space in Gapa Island)

  • The villages in island were established overcoming natural environment through Shamanism and changed by developing various industrials like transportation. Gapa Island located in southern part of Jejudo is flat topography different from the other islands. The purpose of this study is to clarify characteristics on transformation of community space in Gapa Island. For purpose, community spaces in Gapa Island are researched such as establishment, function, change, and use of community space. Spatial components in Gapa Island are like as spaces in faith, residential area, area for production, commercial zone, community space, education facilities, public offices, port, and roads. The methods of this study are literature research and interview survey for residents in Gapa Island. The results are as followings: First, community space is in charge about social, industrial, and religious function. Second, for traditional spaces separated for male and female, demarcation of space does not exist in industrial side but the demarcation has still been exist in religious side. Finally, by development of tourism new community space has been charge in festival function as well as function of space like agora for meeting with people freely, which is relatively various in function of community space in social side. Role of the dock for ship, main transportation of island, is being increasing as square.

청소년의 가족환경지각과 정신건강과의 관계 (A Study on the Correlation between Perception of Family Environment and Mental Health of Boy's High School Students)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relation between perception of family environment and mental health of boy's high school students. In order to obtain the appropriate data, a questionnaire was administered to 240 boy's high school 2nd-grade students in Pohang city from March 19 to March 28, 1992. The instruments used for this study were Moos's Family Environment Scale Form R and Kim's Symptom Check List-90. The conclusions were as follows : The level of perception of family environment was lower than mean score. Cohesion, achievement orientation, independence, organization, expressiveness were percepted high but active-recreational orientation, intellectual-cultural orientation were percepted low. Mental health of most respondents was well. The scores of obsessive-compulsive reaction and interpersonal sensitivity were high, the scores of somatization and phobia were low. General characteristic variables significantly related to the level of perception about family environment were father's occupation and mother's education level. There were no significant differences between general characteristic variables and mental health. There were mostly negative correlations between perception of family environment and mental health. Cohesion, expressiveness, independence, intellectual-cultural orientation, active-recerational orientation, moral-religious emphasis, organization were negatively correlated but conflict, achivement orientation, control were positively correlated. Cohesion, expressiveness, conflict, achivement orientation, active-recretional orientation, organization, control were significantly related, but independence intellectual-cultural orientation, moral-religious emphasis were no significant correlation.

Daesoon Thought as the Source of Daesoon Jinrihoe's Social Work

  • Both in Korea and internationally, many know and appreciate Daesoon Jinrihoe for its social work in the three main areas of education, social welfare and health care, and charity aid. The article surveys Daesoon Jinrihoe's activities in these three areas and proposes a comparison with the charitable and ecological work performed by the Taiwanese Buddhist charity (and new religious movement) Tzu Chi, the peace activities of Soka Gakkai, and the projects developed in Bhutan to implement the policy of Gross National Happiness. Tzu Chi is mostly known for its massive recycling activities, but in fact its view of charity and ecology is based on a specific Buddhist theology. Soka Gakkai's vision of peace relates to its interpretation of Nichiren Buddhism. Gross National Happiness in Bhutan is a project promoted by the government, but scholars who have studied it have concluded that it is deeply rooted in Drukpa Kagyu, the dominant school in Bhutanese Buddhism. Similarities are noted, as well as differences with the Western Christian and post-Christian approach to charity, which is largely based on an affirmation of the self. Daesoon Jinrihoe's social work shares with the Buddhist cases studied in the article the idea that the self may deceive (self-deception) but appears to be inspired by the unique principle of Sangsaeng, and by the idea that the root causes of social problems are grievances accumulated through thousands of years and in need of being resolved.

Islamization or Arabization? The Arab Cultural Influence on the South Sulawesi Muslim Community since the Islamization in the 17th Century

  • This paper explores the influence of Arab culture on the culture of Bugis-Makassar, the two major ethnic groups in South Sulawesi, Indonesia, particularly after their Islamization in the early 17th century. The paper argues that since then, the on-going process of Islamization in the region has also brought a continuous flow of ideas and cultural practices from Mecca to Indonesia by means of the hajj pilgrims, Arab traders, and the establishment of Islamic educational institutions that emphasized the teaching and use of Arabic language in education. These factors, among others, have facilitated a cultural inflow which enabled cultural practices borne of West Asia (Middle East) to be integrated into local customs and beliefs. The paper particularly depicts the most observable forms of Arabic cultural integration, acculturation, and assimilation into the Bugis-Makassar culture such as the use of Arabic in Islamic schools and religious sermons; the Arab-style dressing by religious scholars, teachers, and students; the wearing of the hijab (head cover) by women; and the change of people's names from local into Arabic. By utilizing the historical and anthropological approach, this paper investigates this dynamic process of adaptation and integration of a foreign culture that first came through the Islamization of a local culture, exploring the role of an Islamic missionary and educational institutions in mediating and maintaining such cultural integration processes.

  • 교육에서 에듀세레는 그 자체가 기본적인 상황에서 보다 좋은 그리고 보다 높은 상황으로 개선을 함의한다. 더 나아가서 에두세레의 성품교육은 독일어 빌둥의 개념으로 인정될 수 있다. 여기서 빌둥이란 전체성의 인격, 사회와 세계관에서의 포괄적인 태도를 의미한다. 네덜란드 교육이 이 부분에서 만들어 내는 새로움은 무엇인가? 사고와 행동에서의 선형 발달에 대한 강조 없이 교육은 역사에서 포괄성에 대한 확신 없이 발생하지 않는다. 네덜란드에서 성인과 아동의 포괄성은 우리의 연구에서 역사적 맥락으로 제시된다. 그 결과는 우리에게 놀라움을 제공한다.

  • 청년기의 중요한 발달과업은 만남 및 정체성의 토대 위에서 이루어진다. 이러한 만남 및 정체성의 문제는 사실상 어린 시절 자신을 인정해주는 긍정해주는 1차 양육자의 '얼굴'을 갈망하는 본능과도 연결되어 있다. 제임스 로더는 인간의 "얼굴" 추구 본능은 이후 "형식적 조작기"에 이르러 "영원한 얼굴"이신 하나님을 갈망하는 종교적 사고로 연결됨을 역설한다. 이러한 '얼굴' 및 '영원한 얼굴'의 추구는 의미 있는 만남을 통해 '나는 누구인가?'를 발견하려는 실존적, 존재론적 움직임인 것이다. 종교심리학자 칼 융은 현대 사회가 절대 진리인 것처럼 신봉하는 과학적 사고가 미신적 신앙으로부터 인간을 해방시키는 공헌을 하였지만, 이것이 영혼의 소중한 가치 및 자연과의 일체감을 상실케 하는 역기능도 초래하였음 또한 지적한다. 융은 "상징적 놀이"를 통해 학습자 또는 내담자가 자신의 무의식과 대면할 수 있도록 도와야 함을 강조한다. 이렇게 함으로써 학습자가 무의식의 상처와 왜곡을 극복하고 진정한 자기를 향해 성숙해갈 수 있다는 것이다. 융의 이러한 "무의식 대면"기법을 자신의 교육이론 속에 비판적으로 전유한 학자가 제임스 로더이다. 로더는 융의 무의식과 '상징적 놀이'를 넘어, 인간의 영과 하나님의 영 사이의 대화와 상호작용을 통해 학습자의 내면에 놀라운 변화와 변형이 일어날 수 있도록 돕는 '변형화교육'을 주창한 바 있다. 오늘날 많은 청년들이 자신의 실존적, 존재론적 공허에 빠져 방황하고 있는 상황에서 기능적, 사회화교육만으로는 이들의 문제와 발달론적 위기를 극복할 수 없음이 분명하다. 이러한 발달론적 위기는 "영원한 얼굴"이신 하나님과의 만남 속에서 이루어지는 정체성과 친밀감의 토대를 필요로 한다. 따라서 본 연구는 융의 "무의식 대면"과 로더의 "변형의 논리"를 통합적으로 활용할 때, 청년들의 건강한 자아정체성과 친밀감 형성을 위한 변형화교육이 가능할 수 있음을 제시한다. 본 연구는 이론적 성찰뿐 아니라, 기독교 변형화교육을 실행함으로써 얻어진 청년들의 반응과 실제 피드백을 함께 제시한다. 이를 통해 "청년을 위한 기독교 변형화교육"이 실제적 성과와 열매를 거둘 수 있는 이론임을 입증함으로써 연구를 마무리하였다.
