  • Current maintenance system are unable to suggest solid basis of maintenance for roating and static equipment. When a filure occurs, replacement or repair without proper process of failure cause analysis would often result in even greater risk. Therefore in this study, a procedure of Reliability Centred Maintenance is develped in order to perform maintenance in preventive mainer (PM), and to effectively manage risk of any equipment based on failure types and respective rates of failure. Ultimately an equipment with higher risk will be monitored which will lead to effectively prevent and manage any major accident.

  • From '1994 Gwacheon accident of the Electric Multiple Unit(EMU)' till '2004 Seoul subway 2 lines Guui station accident', the accident is increasing at day and the service demand of the citizen is coming to be various. But it does not deal with technical or operation side demands. There is a possibility of saying that the accident of the EMU or deficit operation is caused by the RCM. The EMU where the efficiency is good though does the time passes and it becomes old anger and does not display that efficiency not only the cause of formation accident does becomes. The breakdown about under occurring before getting up an accident, appropriately shifting the parts is to a maintenance very the pending question fact which is important is a possibility of doing. From there is by an EMU, RCM in reliability base grudge is a tool of confirms an improvement point and the place where it judges. From the research which it sees will present about technical development plan of RCM.

  • This paper is described the System of effective RAMS Management established for AREX Railway System. This system for AREX's E&M system contains FRACAS(Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action Plan) and computation of RAMS indices. This procedure is applying to improve the Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety for railway system in operation stage. Furthermore, this system would be a basis of RCM(Reliability Centred Maintenance).

Failure patterns of repairable systems and a flexible intensity function model

  • Engineering systems are usually repairable. The reliability of a repairable system can be represented by failure intensity function. A type of shape of failure intensity function is called a failure pattern. Reliability-Centred Maintenance (RCM) presents six typical failure patterns but its definition is unclear. It is an open issue how to recognize the failure pattern of repairable systems. This paper first discusses the problems of RCM with the notion of failure pattern; then presents the method for failure pattern recognition; and finally proposes a flexible failure intensity function model. The appropriateness of the model is illustrated by a real-world example.
