MPMTP-AR: Multipath Message Transport Protocol Based on Application-Level Relay

  • Recent advancements in network infrastructures provide increased opportunities to support data delivery over multiple paths. Compared with multi-homing scenario, overlay network is regarded as an effective way to construct multiple paths between end devices without any change on the underlying network. Exploiting multipath characteristics has been explored for TCP with multi-homing device, but the corresponding exploration with overlay network has not been studied in detail yet. Motivated by improving quality of experience (QoE) for reliable data delivery, we propose a multipath message transport protocol based on application level relay (MPMTP-AR). MPMTP-AR proposes mechanisms and algorithms to support basic operations of multipath transmission. Dynamic feedback provides a foundation to distribute reasonable load to each path. Common source decrease (CSD) takes the load weight of the path with congestion into consideration to adjust congestion window. MPMTP-AR uses two-level sending buffer to ensure independence between paths and utilizes two-level receiving buffer to improve queuing performance. Finally, the MPMTP-AR is implemented on the Linux platform and evaluated by comprehensive experiments.

Adaptive Cooperation for Bidirectional Communication in Cognitive Radio Networks

  • In the interweave cognitive networks, the interference from the primary user degrades the performance of the cognitive user transmissions. In this paper, we propose an adaptive cooperation scheme in the interweave cognitive networks to improve the performance of the cognitive user transmissions. In the proposed scheme for the bidirectional communication of two end-source cognitive users, the bidirectional communication is completed through the non-relay direct transmission, the one-way relaying cooperation transmission, and the two-way relaying cooperation transmission depending on the limited feedback from the end-sources. For the performance analysis of the proposed scheme, we derive the outage probability and the finite-SNR diversity multiplexing tradeoff (f-DMT) in a closed form, considering the imperfect spectrum sensing, the interference from the primary user, and the power allocation between the relay and the end-sources. The results show that compared with the direct transmissions (DT), the pure one-way relaying transmissions (POWRT), and the pure two-way relaying transmissions (PTWRT), the proposed scheme has better outage performance. In terms of the f-DMT, the proposed scheme outperforms the full cooperation transmissions of the POWRT and PTWRT.

  • Proportional solenoid valves are a modulating type that can control the displacement of valves continuously by means of electromagnetic forces proportional to the solenoid coil current. Because the solenoid-type modulating valves have the advantages of fast response and compact design over air-operated or motor-operated valves, they have been gaining acceptance in chemical and power plants to control the flow of fluids such as water, steam, and gas. This paper deals with the auto tuning of the position controller that can provide the proportional and integral gain automatically based on the dynamic system identification. The process characteristics of the solenoid valve are estimated with critical gain and critical period at a stability limit based on implemented relay feedback, and the controller parameters are determined by the classical Ziegler-Nichols design method. The auto-tuning algorithm was verified with experiments, and the effects of the operating point at which the relay control is activated as well as the relay amplitude were investigated.

  • This paper deals with the cancellation performance of loop back interference signal in the case of multihop relay of 16-QAM received signal at the USN radio network. For this, it is necessary to the exchange of information with long distance located station by means of the relay function between the node in the USN environment. In the relay node, the loop-back interference signal which the retransmitting signal is feedback to the receiver side due to the antenna of transmitter and receiver are co-used or very colsely located or using the nonlinear device. Due to this signal, the performance of USN system are degraded which are using the limited resource of frequency and power. For improve this, it is necessary to applying the adaptive signal processing algorithm in order to cancellating the unwanted loop-back interference signal at the frontend of receiver in relaying node, we can get the better system and multi hop performance. In the adaptive signal processing, we considered the 16-QAM signal which has a good spectral efficiency, firstly, than, the QR-Array RLS algorithm was used that has a fairly good convergence property and the solving the finite length problem in the H/W implementation. Finaly, we confirmed that the good elimination performanc was confirmed by computer simulation in the learing cuved and received signal constellation compared to the conventional RLS.

  • The necessity of imformation on product design process is increased in recently years, because a product can be called a mass of information and becomes more complex as long as technology is developed. But the present product development method is like a relay race. In this sequential process, information is transferred from one department to other departments like \"over the wall\". And communication gaps among departments are generated, so imformation cannot be controlled very well. Therefore it is needed to innovate the design process. The information system proposedin this study is an application software which can be useful for integrated product design process. It has been developed primarily for use in IBN PC and windows environment.   • Most control systems of power plants are using classical PID controllers for their process control. In order to get the desired control performances, the correct tuning of PID controllers is very important. Sometimes, it is necessary to retune PID controllers after the change of system operating condition and system design change, etc. Commercial auto-tuning controllers such as relay feedback controller can be used for this purpose. However, using these controllers to the safety-critical systems of nuclear power plants may be cause of unsafe operation, because they are using test signals for tuning. A new system identification auto-tuning method without using test signal has been developed in this paper. This method uses process input/output signals for system identification of unknown control process. From the model information of control process which was obtained from system identification approach, the optimal PID parameters can be calculated. The method can be used in the safety-critical systems because it is not using test signals during system modeling process.

포항 방사광 가속기의 고주파시스템 설계

  • 현재까지 진행된 저장링 격자의 기본설계에 따라, 고주파 시스템 특히 Cavity와 고전력 고주파시스템의 기본 요구사항 및 기본구조를 보여주었다. 이외에도 저장링의 고주파시스템은 아주 잘 설계된 정밀 고주파회로의 둣받침을 받아야 하는데 이에 대한 설계는 아직 초기단계에 있다. 안정된 500MHz 전원에서부터, Cavity내부 및 외부, 또 Klystron의 출력 등등의 상태를 파악하는 amplitude 및 phase detector들 또한 phase shifter, 신호감쇄기, 튜너 등이 많은 feedback 회로를 통해 서로 연결되어 각종 고, 저전력 시스템을 control하고 Cavity간의 위상을 맞추어 주어야 한다. 또한 이모든 system은 computer control 및 manual control이 가능해야 하고, 고압(-50KV), 고전류(-15A)가 사용되고 또한 Cavity 자체가 전체 저장링의 진공 시스템을 파괴할 수도 있으므로 이에 대한 초고속의 안전 relay 시스템도 설치되어야 한다. 충분한 빔의 수명을 위한 최대전얍은 1.5MV 내지 2.3MV로서 3개 또는 4개의 Cavity가 필요하고, 필요전력은 최소 171KW에서 최대 512KW까지임을 보여주었다. 여러가지 가능한 layout에서 PLS에 적합한 구조를 선택하였으며 기존 가속기들에 사용된 기술수준을 능가하는 특별한 요구사항은 없음을 보여주었다.

On the Performance of Incremental Opportunistic Relaying with Differential Modulation over Rayleigh Fading Channels

  • We propose an incremental relaying protocol in conjunction with opportunistic communication for differential modulation with an aim to make efficient use of the degrees of freedom of the channels by exploiting a imited feedback signal from the destination. In particular, whenever the direct link from the source to the destination is not favorable to decoding, the destination will request the help from the opportunistic relay (if any). The performance of the proposed system is derived in terms of average bit error probability and achievable spectral efficiency. The analytic results show that the system assisted by the opportunistic relaying can achieve full diversity at low SNR regime and exhibits a 30㏈ gain relative to direct transmission, assuming single-antenna terminals. We also determine the effect of power allocation on the bit error probability BEP) performance of our relaying scheme. We conclude with a discussion on the relationship between the given thresholds and channel resource savings. Monte-Carlo simulations are performed to verify the analysis.

  • This paper describes the procedures for pre-tuning and re-tuning of the PI controller to specifications on patterns of output response. The key ideas of the proposed adaptive scheme are as follows. The relay feedback is adopted first for pre-tuning and the adaptive algorithms by the pattern recognition are introduced for re-tuning procedure to retune the gains whenever control conditions are changed. The proposed scheme was applied to the experimental laboratory process, heat exchanger.

  • The positioner is an essential component of the control valve which is used to control quantity of the liquid in the pipe of chemical plants. In this paper, the experimental methodology for current pneumatic positioner was developed for the investigation of the static and dynamic characteristics of the positioner. The methodology was applied to evaluate response characteristics of two different positioners, which are current model in market and newly designed model. The experimental results of these two models were compared and analyzed.
