  • Light bending by gravity was the key prediction of general relativity. Solar eclipse expedition of 1919 provided the observational support for the theory of general relativity. Diverse gravitational lensing, i.e., light bending, phenomena have been speculated and predicted by general relativity and ultimately discovered many years later. Gravitationally lensed quasars, luminous arcs, weak lensing, and microlensing have provided invaluable information about the distribution of matter, especially of dark matter, and the cosmology. Gravitational lensing is one of the most spectacular manifestation of general relativity and will remain as an extremely useful astrophysical tools in the future.

  • The Purpose of this study was an analysis of high school student's understanding level about concepts of special relativity through in-depth interview. The 8 participants were 10th grade students in H high school in Ulsan city, who were interviewed and analyzed in the results of the interview about basic concepts of special relativity using achievement checklist in 6 situations(principle of constancy of light velocity, principle of relativity, relativity of simultaneity, garage paradox, rocket paradox). As results of the checklist, the participants showed high achievement in the content level of simple phenomena and simple concepts related to special relativity. But they showed low achievement in the concept level for fundamental understanding of special relativity. As results of the interview, it was found that the participants decided the order of events depending on their intuition and had a difficulty to apply the coordinate system to real situation, even though they mathematically understood it. In addition, some participants who could not understand the inertial coordinate system explained paradoxes of relativity depending on their intuition and had learner's chaos. Finally, though high school students usually being in formal operational stage, some students had difficulty to draw phenomena of space and time in two dimensional plane.

  • For the education of scientifically gifted high-school students in the field of relativity, we have executed a research on the understanding of relativistic concepts through the case study of its students of Busan Science Academy appointed as a high school for the gifted education in science. We showed the analysis of the changes in students, understanding in the field of (special) relativity and their possible causes. The comparison of the pre-test and the post-test tends to support that the students attained better understanding through the instruction of relativity. Students' understanding and misconception of relativistic concepts were also investigated through the case study. The students showed low degree of understanding in the validity of the principle of relativity, the influence of the constancy of the speed of light on the classical physics, etc. It seems that the analysis of these concepts of insufficient understanding can make a contribution to designing the education of relativity for scientifically gifted students.

  • A Feynman functional formulation is given for the Global Positioning System, GPS. Both the sequential and analytic Feynman functionals are presented for the classical, exterior, gravity problems which included rigid body rotations, special relativity and some general relativity corrections. A mathematically rigorous approach is introduced whose solutions exist, are unique and which depend continuously on the intial data. This formulation is convergent and has the finite approximation property. It is emphasized that all of the problems studied are classical (not quantum) evolution systems.

  • This interdisciplinary study explores G$\ddot{o}$del's hermeneutics of the relationship between relativity theory and idealistic philosophy in terms of time. For G$\ddot{o}$del, Einstein's contribution to the physical realization of idealistic philosophy would be remarkable. We start with a historical background around G$\ddot{o}$del's paper for Einstein(1949a). From the perspective of G$\ddot{o}$del's cosmology, the second part addresses the relative nature of time, and the next then investigates the rotating model of universes. G$\ddot{o}$del's own results show that the temporal conditions of relativity and idealistic philosophy are satisfiable in the mathematical model of rotating universes. Thus, it could be asserted to travel into any region of the past, present or future, and back again.

  • In this paper, we investigated quality properties for the expansive of the CaO-$CaSO_4$ family which used to compensate dry-shrinkage in the floor mortar of On-Dol heating System. This experimental study established the mix condition with quantity of the expansive and is to investigate the relativity between the compress strength and the length change and the relativity between the chemical properties and the length change with the analysis of the physical and chemical properties. As a result of the study, the expansive is controlled by more the CaO than the $CaSO_4$. The relativity between the compress strength and the length change is expressed by exponential function, showing that if the expansive performance is increased, the compress strength is decreased. And the relativity between the chemical properties and the length change is only relative the quantity of the F-CaO among the chemical properties, is expressed by the second order function, showing that if the F-CaO is increased, the expansive performance is increased.

  • This paper reexamines ideas about linguistic relativity in the light of new interest in the theoretical climate. The original idea is based on the incommensurability of the semantic structures of different languages. On this view, language, thought, culture are deeply interconnected, so that each language might be associated with it a distinctive world view. Throughout this work I utilize the historico-epistemological standpoint to dissect the conceptual structure of this principle. In the introduction I will of for a justification of choice of the theme. Section 1 will address some essential definition of the linguistic principle and insist on the necessity to elaborate a typological spectrum of relativism and universalism. In the second section some important landmarks of linguistic relativity were marked from Plato to Humboldt via Condillac and Herder. 1 will subdivide the relativity hypothesis into 3 theses which are interlated. In the final section the epistemological structure of the linguistic principle will be analysed in some detail by providing my exposition of Sapir-Whorf hypothesis. By way of conclusion I will present the works of Wierzbicka who demonstrated the lexicons of different languages suggest different conceptual universes. By rejecting analytical tools derived from the English language she proposed instead a natural semantic metalanguage based on lexical universals, which is made up of universal semantic primitives. In this paper we attempted to construct a general problematics of linguistic relativity, focolizing on the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis. We devided this very problematic question into its ontological and epistemological dimensions. In particular the ambivalance of Whorf's relativity is discussed in some detail. Also, an archeological survey of this subtle question on the relation between language, thinking and culture was provided. (from Aristotle to Humboldt, via Condillac and Nitzche). In conclusion this investigation underlines the necessity of preparing the cultural linguistics to enlarge the scope of contempory linguistics.

  • Using redshift-space distortion, I reconstruct the growth history as a smooth function using model independent methods. Assuming general relativity, I obtain the expansion history independently of the dark energy model, and test it to the supernovae data. The results are consistent with general relativity as gravity and the cosmological constant as dark energy, although interestingly negative dark energy densities are not ruled out by the data at z~0.7 to 1.

  • The inflow of digital technology into the art, especially in the Fashion Illustration since 1990, makes the new aesthetics of the beginning of the 21 century which the Software aesthetics can be called. The meeting of technology and the art make us recall a great scientist and artist, Leonardo da Vinci in the Renaissance that the notion of the art and skill was unified, same as the ancient history. This study is purposed to expand the concept of the art for the broad exchange of the digital technology and art and for the extensive expression method of the modern fashion illustration. Having views on science theory of the beginning of the 20 century, Theory of Relativity which had given a lot of influence in the philosophy, the litterature and the art, as well as all the science, it makes a connection with the history of art in the beginning of the 20 century and the story of the digital art in the beginning of the 21 century. Firstly, the Fauvism and 2D is based on the expression of the glowing and bright color by the Principle of constancy of light velocity. Secondly, the Cubism and 3D is associated with the Special theory of relativity in the cyberspace which the space and the time are totally accorded. Thirdly, the Futurism and 4D is compared with the General theory of relativity which contains the material and the gravity. They are gradually evolved into the Interactive art and the Kinetic art by the digital technology in the profound cyberspace.

  • The author conducted an experiment on the relativity between the mandibular buccal and lingual cusp inclines by means of measuring full arch plaster cast teeth of the fifty student subjects of the College of Dentistry, Seoul National University. The results were as follows: 1. The statistical relativity between the mandibular buccal and lingual cusp inclines in individual tooth was hardly recognized. 2. In the cusp incline data of the whole posterior teeth, the rough basis for the harmonizing with the other occlusion factors was recognizable. 3. The cusp inclination itself was incomplete in mechanical balance, therefore, it might be said that there were a lot of possibilities that the cusp incline may act as a potential etiological factor to give rise to occlusal diseases.
