  • This work deals with an intuitive method for a planar biped to walk, which is named Relative Trajectory Control (RTC) method. A key feature of the proposed RTC method is that feet of the robot are controlled to track a given trajectory, which is specially designed relative to the base body of the robot. The trajectory of feet is presumed from analysis of the walking motion of a human being. A simple method to maintain a stable posture while the robot is walking is also introduced in RTC method. In this work, the biped is modeled as a free-floating robot, of which dynamic model is obtained in the Cartesian space. Using the obtained dynamic model, the robot is controlled by a model-based feedback control scheme. The author shows a preliminary experimental result to verify that the biped robot with RTC method can walk on the even or uneven surfaces.

  • This paper proposes a vehicle trajectory prediction method far application to vehicle-to-vehicle distance control. This method is based on 2-dimensional kinematics and a Kalman filter has been used to estimate acceleration of the object vehicle. The simulation results using the proposed control method show that the relative distance characteristics can be improved via the trajectory prediction method compared to the customary intelligent cruise control algorithm.

  • The techniques for driving trajectory calculation and driving trajectory distribution calculation are proposed to analyze the durability of ground vehicles effectively. To achieve this aim, the driving trajectory of a vehicle and the driving trajectory distribution of that are needed, in addition to road profile. The road profiles can be measured by a profilometer but a driving trajectory of a vehicle cannot be acquired effectively due to a large position error from a conventional GPS sensor. Therefore two techniques are proposed to reduce the position error of a vehicle and achieve the distribution of driving trajectory of that. The driving trajectory calculation technique produces relative positions by using the velocity, time and heading of a vehicle. The driving trajectory distribution calculation technique produces distributions of the driving trajectory by using axis transformation, estimating reference line, dividing sectors and plotting a histogram of the sectors. As a results of this study, we can achieve the considerably accurate driving trajectory and driving trajectory distribution of a vehicle.

  • In this study, efficient force reflection algorithm is developed for the Haptic Display by using a proxy concept and friction model. When there are not any contacted obstacles the proxy is following human operator's command trajectory in the 3D virtual space. But when the operator's command trajectory is locating inside of the object, the proxy is constrained by the surface of the object. Here only with the information of the proxy position and operator's command trajectory at every time step, we can calculate the reflection force and its orientation. To display the friction force between two virtual stiff material which are sliding against each other, modified Karnopp's friction model is used. In the friction model, a damping term and a Stribeck effect term are included to display the relative velocity effect and stick-slip effect at the very low relative velocity region respectively.

  • In mobile device's user interface, menu organization is very important as well as menu structure because small display of mobile device. Menu items should be organized based on user knowledge structure to design user-centered interface. Traditionally, MDS (Multidimensional Scaling) have been most often used to expose users' perceived organization of menu items. But, information that MDS reveals is just relative spatial location of concepts and not relevant to concepts connection. Unlike MDS, Trajectory Mapping explicitly finds users' cognitive links between perceived concepts. This study proposes a Trajectory Mapping technique for eliciting knowledge structure, especially a set of cognitive pathways linking menu items, from end user. With twelve participants, MDS and Trajectory Mapping were conducted using cellular phone's menu items. And user knowledge structure was analyzed through Visual Concept Map that combination of results of MDS and Trajectory Mapping. After then, menu items were organized according to users' perceived organization. Empirical usability test was also conducted. The results of usability test showed that usability, in terms of task performance time, number of errors, and satisfaction, for newly organized interface was significantly improved compare to original interface. The methodology of this study is expected to be applicable to design a user-centered interface. In other words, Trajectory Mapping technique can be used as a design tool of user interface for imposing user knowledge structure on the interface.

  • New formation flight controller for unmanned aerial vehicles is proposed. A behavioral decentralized control approach called formation geometry center control is adopted. Trajectory tracking as well as formation geometry keeping are the purpose of the formation flight, and therefore two controllers are designed: a trajectory tracking controller for reference trajectory tracking, and a position controller for formation geometry keeping. Each controller is designed using Lyapunov stability theorem to guarantee the asymptotic stability. Formation flight controller is finally obtained by combining the trajectory tracking controller and the formation geometry keeping controller using a weighting parameter that depends on the relative distance error between unmanned aerial vehicles. Numerical simulations are performed to validate the performance of the proposed controller.

  • The effect of the perpendicular field on the trajectory of a vortex core driven by spin-transfer torque was investigated using micromagnetic simulations. The trajectory of the vortex core was staggered due to distortions of the moving vortex core. The core trajectory was affected by both the perpendicular field and ${\beta}$ value, which is the relative magnitude of nonadiabatic spin torque to the adiabatic spin torque. This suggests that the effect of the perpendicular field should be considered when examining a vortex core trajectory affected by ${\beta}$.

  • For a class of multi-input multi-output nonlinear systems which perform a given task repetitively, an extended type of a direct leaning control (DLC) is proposed using the information on the (vector) relative degree of a multi-input multi-output system. Existing DLC methods are observed to be applied to a limited class of systems with the relative degree one and a new DLC law is suggested which can be applied to systems having higher relative degree. Using the proposed control law, the control input corresponding to the new desired output trajectory is synthesized directly based on the control inputs obtained from the learning process for other output trajectories. To show the validity and the performance of the proposed DLC, simulations are performed for trajectory tracking control of a two-axis SCARA robot.

  • Trajectory dispersion models are used for the dispersion calculations in air quality assessments, Yellow-sand modeling, environmental planning and the emergency response. Meso-scale forcing and coastal circulations are calculated by trajectory model in the East Asia region. In this study the meteorological fields (GDAS and MM5) coupled to the trajectory model (HY-SPLIT) are applied to simulate the transport and the dispersion. Seoul is selected as a starting point of the HY-SPLIT. The sensitivity studies are performed by conducting an ensemble of simulations using the GDAS and the MM5 model for the same dispersion cases. The results in this study show a significant difference depending on the resolution of meteorological models. Additionally, in most cases of the compared tionally, results from MM5 and GDAS, the absolute and relative distance, shows significant difference and the difference increased with the increasing distance of HY-SPLIT. Therefore, for the case of small domai for twi d field distefbution over complex terrai, should be used only high model temporal or spatial resolution to improve the HY-SPLIT model results.
