Body volume, density and %fat were calculated by means of formulas using body height, weight, and surface area in 1,732 children aged between 6 and 12 years. Skinfold thicknesses on back, arm, waist and abdomen were measured by means of a Lange caliper. The course of increase in body volume was identical to those of body height, weight, relative weight and surface area. Curves of boys and girls showed a cross at the age of between 10 and 11 years. Body density of boys increased with the age and it decreased in girls. Total body fat showed a progressive decrease from the age of 6 in boys. In girls body fat increased progressively with the age. Skinfold thickness increased both in boys and girls with the age. At the same age skinfold thicknesses on all sites were greater in girls than boys.
We investigated the distribution and geomorphic development of alluvial fan in Gyeongju City including Cheonbuk area. According to a relative height to a river bed, alluvial fans of this area are divided into Higher surface, Middle surface, and Lower surface. As alluvial fans of Bulguk temple∼Ulsan bay area, the confluent fans in Cheonbuk and Gyeongju areas were formed by the Quaternary climatic change alternating glacial and interglacial stages, and the development of N-S and NW-SE fault lines. The Gyeongju alluvial fan, the largest in Korea, has been provided as the significant space for human activity since the prehistoric age. Bukcheon river formed the Gyeongju alluvial fan had not flowed over during the prehistoric and the ancient times. In contrast with general geomorphic characteristics, many springs in the Gyeongju alluvial fan are located in the middle part of the fan because ground water reaches to the surface. It is supposed that sedimental materials were not sufficiently piled up at lower reach of Bukcheon river due to the large deposits at upper and middle reach of the basin.
A total of 40 surface samples(12 from the intertidal flat and 28 from the subtidal zone) from Gwangyang Bay, southern coast of the Korean Peninsula show a strong negative relationship between the total foraminiferal abundance and the ratios of the live to the total(L/T) assemblages. This suggests that the foraminiferal abundance is dependent on the dilution due to the input of detrital sediments, and that the L/T ratios show the relative rate of sedimentation in the study area. The intertidal flat and delta area are characterized by the relatively high sedimentation compared to the inner bay and shallow subtidal zone, and three major tidal channels where relatively low and no sedimentation is noted, respectively. Bathymetric occurrence of the species shows distinct boundaries at 9m, and between 21 and 30m, respectively. Cluster analysis shows three biotopes;intertidal flat including delay, inner bay and shallow subtidal zone, and major tidal channels. This suggests that these biotopes are formed by the ecology of the foraminifers as well as by the sedimentological setting of the study area. Several problems in relation to the relative rate of sedimentation inferred from the L/T ratios are briefly discussed.
Gunsan coastal area is one of region increasing pollution problems. To improve water quality, the reduction of these nutrients loads should be indispensible. In this study, the three-dimensional numerical hydrodynamic and ecosystem model were applied to analyze the processes affecting the eutrophication. In field survey, the average concentrations of dissolved inorganic nitrogen (DIN) and dissolved inorganic phosphorus(DIP) at surface waters were found to be 0.43mg/$\ell$ and 0.03mg/$\ell$ respectively, which were exceeding second grade of water quality criteria. In hydrodynamic modelling, the comparison between the simulated and observed tidal ellipses showed fairly good agreement. The ecosystem model was calibrated with the observed data in study area. The simulated results of DIN were fairly good coincided with the observed values within relative error of 32.39%, correlation coefficient(r) of 0.99. In the case of DIP, the simulated results were fairly good coincided with the observed values within relative error of 24.26%, correlation coefficient(r) of 0.82. The simulations of DIN and DIP concentrations using ecosystem model were performed under the conditions of 20∼80% reductions for pollutant loading. At simulation results, concentration of DIN and DIP were reduced to 20∼80% and under 10% in case of the 80% reduction of pollutant loading, respectively.

Micro-features such as grooves and lenses, which perform optical functions in flat displays, should be manufactured with a good form accuracy because this is directly related to their optical performance. As the size of the display increases, it is very difficult to maintain a high relative accuracy because of the inherent geometric errors such as the waviness of a large-area plate. In this paper, the optical effect of these geometric errors is investigated, and surface-referenced micro-grooving to measure and compensate for such geometric errors on line is proposed to improve the form accuracy of the micro-grooves. A PZT-based fast depth adjustment servo system is implemented in the tool holder to maintain a uniform groove depth in reference to the wavy surface. Through experiments, the proposed method is shown to be an efficient way to produce high-quality micro- grooves on a wavy die surface.
This study is an ergonomic study on the function of sleeves related with the expansion and contraction of the upper Extremity skin surface by various movememts. RESULTS : 1. According to the plane figure, a. The change of form is like fig. 3. b. In the changing rates of the expansion and contraction of skin surface by various movements, that of arm hole girth shows an extremely big discrepancy and that of Elbow Girth shows a relative low one. c. According to the rate of the expansion and contraction of each block, the inside of the upper arm area expands most in all the blocks measured. 2. According to the rate of expansion and contraction of skin surface by somatometry, inside lehgth of arm in M\sub 2\ and outside length of the upper arm in M\sub 4\ expand significantly8and also elbow girth in M\sub 6\, M\sub 7\, M\sub 8\ expands significantly.
A new method is proposed for the calculation of the unrelaxed surface energy of spinel ferrite. The surface energy calculation consists of (1) setting the central and computational domains in the semi-infinite real lattice, having a specific surface, and having an infinite real lattice; (2) calculation of the lattice energies produced by the associated portion of each ion in the relative domain; and (3) dividing the difference between the semi-infinite lattice energy and the infinite lattice energy on the exposed surface area in the central domain. The surface energy was found to converge with a slight expansion of the domain in the real lattice. This method is superior to any other so far reported due to its simple concept and reduced computing burden. The unrelaxed surface energies of the (100), (110), and (111) of $ZnFe_2O_4$ and $Fe_3O_4$ were evaluated by using in the semi-infinite real lattices containing only one surface. For the normal spinel $ZnFe_2O_4$, the(100), which consisted of tetrahedral coordinated $Zn^{2+}$ was electrostatically the most stable surface. But, for the inverses pinel $Fe_3O_4$, the(111), which consisted of tetrahedral coordinated $Fe^{3+}$ and octahedral coordinated $Fe^{2+}$ was electrostatically the most stable surface.
An accurate determination of turbulent fluxes over an urban area is a challenging task due to its morphological diversity and associated flow complexity. In this study, an eddy covariance (EC) method is applied over a highly heterogeneous urban area in a small city (Gongju), South Korea to investigate the quantitative influence of 'coordinate tilt' in determining the turbulent fluxes of sensible heat, latent heat, momentum, and carbon dioxide mass. Two widely-used coordinate transform methods are adopted and applied to eight directional sections centered on the site to analyze a 1-year period EC measurement obtained from the urban site: double rotation (DR) and planar fit (PF) transform. The results show that mean streamline planes determined by the PF method are distinguished from the sections, representing morphological heterogeneity of the site. The sectional pitch angles determined by the DR method also compare well with those in the PF method. Both the PF and DR methods show large variabilities in the determined streamline planes at each directional section, implying that flow patterns may form in a complicate way due to the surface heterogeneity. Resulting relative differences of the turbulent fluxes, defined by $(F_{DR}-F_{PF})/F_{DR}$, are found on average +13% in sensible heat flux, +21% in latent heat flux, +37% in momentum flux, and +26% in carbon dioxide mass flux, which are larger values than those reported previously for fairly homogeneous natural sites. The fractional differences depend significantly on wind direction, showing larger differences in northerly winds at the measurement site. It is also found that the relative fractional differences are negatively correlated with the mean wind speed at both stable/unstable atmospheric conditions. These results imply that EC turbulent fluxes determined over heterogeneous urban areas should be carefully interpreted with considering the uncertainty due to 'coordinate tilt' effect in their applications.
In this study we calculate discharge by slope-area method using continuously observed water level data and analyse the results. This study is performed in the Dalcheon river reach of 960 m length including riffles and a pool, which is located downstream of the Goesan Dam. Three values of roughness coefficient are applied to discharge calculation, which are established using bed material size analysis. Another roughness coefficient value obtained from the river improvement plan is also used. Calculated discharges by slope-area method are compared with dam discharges. Relative difference from dam discharges appears to be largely affected by roughness values and a value of 0.042 or more seems most suitable for the entire study reach. Smaller roughness value is suitable to the reach which has gentler water surface slope than mean channel slope of the entire study reach, while a larger value to steeper reach. In case roughness value is set considering overall slope of the channel, it is desirable to select the entire calculation reach including both gentler and steeper sub-reaches. Since relative difference becomes nearly constant at over 500 cms, in case that verification of applied roughness is conducted with other directly measured discharge, accuracy of measurement by slope-area method for larger discharge may be improved.

According to the relative stiffness between the half-space and plate or loading condition, some parts of the plate can be separated from the half-space. The finite element procedure to determine the contact area by considering the distribution of contact pressure between plate and the elastic half-space is developed. The vertical surface displacements of the elastic half-space can be obtained through the integrations of the Boussinesq's solution for a point load. The rectangular plate on the elastic half-space is modeled by the 8-node rectangular and 6-node triangular elements and the Mindlin plate theory is used in oder to consider the transverse shear effect. In this study, the contact area may be determined approximately by the analysis with rectangular elements. From this results, the mesh pattern is modified by using triangular and rectangular elements. The contact area can be determined by the new mesh pattern with a relatively sufficient accuracy.
