  • In this paper we establish some results depending on the comparative growth properties of composite entire and meromorphic functions using relative (p, q)-th order and relative (p, q)-th lower order where p, q are any two positive integers and that of a special type of differential polynomial generated by one of the factors.

Effects of Water Deficit on Leaf Growth during Vegetative Growth Period in Soybean

  • Leaf area is critical for crop light interception, and thereby has a substantial influence on crop yield. This experiment was conducted to characterize the development of soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] leaf area. Plastochron index and leaf relative growth rate of Jackson was contrasted with the PI416937, which also has demonstrated tolerance to drought. First, plastochron ratio (PR) and plastochron index (PI) were evaluated in greenhouse to compare the leaf growth rate between two genotypes under well-watered condition. There was reasonable constancy of PR between two genotypes. The PR means of Jackson and PI416937 were 0.41 and 0.44, respectively. A fairly smooth increase of PI during vegetative stage was observed. Second, the relative growth rates were graphed against leaf area, normalized with respect to final leaf area, under well-watered and water-deficit conditions. Leaf growth was sustained longer in well-watered condition than water-deficit condition and there was a sizable proportion of leaves which was ceased earlier their growth in water-deficit condition compared to well-watered condition. The leaf relative growth rate of Jackson until leaves had completed at 45% of their growth during water deficit period was higher than that of PI416937.

양식산 참조기(Larimichthys polyactis) (민어과) 자치어의 상대성장과 비늘 형성 (Relative Growth and Squamation in Larvae and Juvenile of Cultured Larimichthys polyactis (Sciaenidae))

  • We investigated the relative growth and squamation of larvae and juveniles of cultured Larimichthys polyactis. Analysis of the relative growth of larvae and juveniles showed that their preanal length, head length, eye diameter, body depth, and snout length increased with growth. There was no significant chage in the relative growth. The ratio of preanus length to standard length (SL) increased rapidly until SL was approximately 12 mm, and then increased gradually. Cycloid scales first appeared on the lateral line, progressed to the abdominal cavity at 15.13 mm SL, and expanded to the occipital region, base of pectoral fin, and ventral region of the eye at 17.82 mm SL. At 18.03 mm SL, scales formed on the cheek, and those at the base of pectoral fin and in the abdominal cavity were connected to each other. At 19.06 mm SL, major part of the head was covered by scales, except near the lower jaw. Cycloid scales on the lateral line changed to ctenoid scales at the range of 31.71-32.24 mm SL, and those on the nape changed at the range of 69.02-70.84 mm SL. Our results may help to establish conservation and management strategy for Larimichthys polyactis aquaculture.

Influence of Temperature and Relative Humidity in Infection of Nosema bombycis (Microsporidia: Nosematidae) and Cross-infection of N. mylitta on Growth and Development of Mulberry Silkworm, Bombyx mori

  • The influence of temperature and relative humidity in infection and cross-infection of Nosema bombycis and N. mylitta respectively in mulberry silkworm, Bombyx mori L. on larval mortality, multiplication of pathogens, larval weight and growth rate in three different seasons were studied. Seasons were selected in such condition, when very less fluctuations between minimum and maximum temperature and minimum and maximum relative humidity ($25{\sim}28^{\circ}C$ and $65{\sim}72%$ R.H) was observed i.e., season-1. Fluctuations between minimum and maximum temperature were less ($28.05{\sim}34.50^{\circ}C$) but R.H % was more ($55{\sim}81%$) in season-2. Fluctuations between minimum and maximum temperature and R.H % were more ($20.00{\sim}40.5^{\circ}C$ and $64.00{\sim}90.00%$) in season-3. Growth rate of microsporidian-infected silkworm is directly related to the prevailing temperature and relative humidity in silkworm. Silkworm can tolerate slight variation of temperature but slight variation of relative humidity disfavours the development of silkworm and favours the multiplication of pathogens.

Chlorella의 생장에 미치는 gibberellic acid의 촉진 및 억제효과 (Accelerated and restrained effects of gibberellic acid on the growth of Chlorella)

  • This investigation was proceeded to define the effects of gibberellic acid on the growth of Chlorella by determining the contents of chlorphyll and changes in various components in Chlorella cells according to the concentration of treated GA. The growth of Chlorella was accelerated with telative low concentrations of GA(10, 40 ppm) and was restrained with relative high concentrations of GA(70, 100, 200 ppm). The synthetic ability of chlorophyll of GA was inhibited generally in proportion to the concentration of treated-GA and the higher the concentration of GA was applied, the longer time was required in the restoration. The contents of RNA, protein and soluble carbohydrate were increased PCA-soluble amino acid and polysacharide were decreased in those cell components between the accelerated and restrained group. Consequently, the effect on accelerated growth in relative low concentrations of GA is considered to be caused by the powerful effet on expansion growth of GA. It is presumed that the effect of restrained growth in relative high concentrations of GA is due to the inhibitory effect on the chlorophyll synthesis.

층층나무와 말채나무 양묘(養苗)시 적정(適正) 차광율(遮光率)에 관한 연구(硏究) (Studies on Optimum Shading for Seedling Cultivation of Cornus controversa and C. walteri)

  • 본 실험은 층층나무(Cornus controversa Hemsl)와 말채나무(Cornus walteri Wanger)의 양묘시 적정 차광율을 구명하고자 상대광도가 100%(대조구), 50%, 30%, 10% 및 2%로 조절된 피음포지에서 실시하였다. 두 수종의 수고생장은 상대광도 50%에서 가장 높은 생장을 보였고, 근원경생장은 대조구와 50%구에서 서로 비슷하게 높은 생장을 기록하였다. 물질생산량을 보면 층층나무의 전체 생산량의 경우 50%에서 자연전광의 대조구보다 높은 생산량을 보였으나 지하부의 생산량은 다소 낮았다. 말채나무는 50%에서 전체 생산량은 대조구보다 낮았으나 지상부 생산량은 다소 높은 생산량을 보였다. 30%이하의 상대광도에서는 수고생장, 근원경생장 및 물질생산량이 급격히 감소하였다. 두 수종 모두 30%에서 가장 높은 T/R율을 기록하였으며 전체적으로 말채나무의 T/R율이 층층나무의 T/R율 보다 높았다. 잎의 엽록소 a와 b 및 전체엽록소 함량은 상대광도가 낮을수록 높아지는 경향을 나타내었다.
