Uplift capacity of single vertical belled pile embedded at shallow depth

  • This study investigates the uplift capacity of a single vertical belled pile buried at shallow depth in dry sand. The laboratory model experiments are conducted with different pile-tip angles and relative densities. In addition, image and FEM analyses are performed to observe the failure surface of the belled pile for different pile-tip angles and relative densities. Accordingly, the uplift capacity and failure angle in the failure surface of the belled pile were found to depend on the belled pile-tip angle and relative density. A predictive model for the uplift capacity of the belled pile was proposed considering the relative density and belled pile-tip angle based on a previous limit equilibrium equation. To validate the applicability of the proposed model, the values calculated using the proposed and previous models were compared to those obtained through a laboratory model experiment. The proposed model had the best agreement with the laboratory model experiment.

Relative Capacity of the Spectrum-Overlapped DS-CDMA System using the Lanczos Chip Waveform

  • Performance improvement of the DS-CDMA system by the spectrum-overlap is important for better service quality or more system capacity. In this paper, an analysis thor capacity improvement is newly considered when the Lanczos chip waveform is used for the spectrum-overlapped DS-CDMA system. RC(relative capacity) is the ratio of the capacity of overlapping system to that of non-overlapping system, which is used for the expression of the capacity improvement. The optimal overlapping ratio is numerically found to make the maximum capacity improvement When the rectangular chip waveform is used far the overlapping system, maximum capacity improvement is increased by about 10% at the required BER=$10^{-3}$TEX> and the optimal overlapping ratio is 1.23. When the 95 % power bandwidth is considered for the Lanczos chip waveform, maximum capacity improvement is increased by 34.4% at overlapping ratio of 1.55 when the required BER is $10^{-3}$TEX>. The lower required BER far the better communication quality makes gradually smaller capacity improvement.

  • Land resources should be managed not only for human utilizations but also for environmental preservation. Based on that, environmental capacity should be estimated in both environmental and developmental ways. This study was performed for developing an estimation model for relative environmental capacity, considering both Development Tolerance Index(DTI), which shows environmental and ecological conservation value and is based on national environmental assessment indicators of the Korea Ministry of Environment, and Development Attractiveness Index(DAI), which shows topographical characteristics and geographical accessibility. The relative environmental capacity in this study can be helpful to coping with the conflict in planning and managing the use of land resources. The relative environmental capacity in this study, however, did not include either environmental or ecological sensitivity of land resources. This limitation should be solved through further research.

모형실험을 이용한 H말뚝의 지지력 특성 (Characteristics of Bearing Capacity for H pile by Model Test)

  • This paper presents results km a series of model tests oil vertically loaded single piles to compare the behaviors of H and pipe piles under the same ground condition. The aims of this paper were to compare the bearing capacity of H-pile md pipe piles under in the same ground condition and to estimate the effect of gravity acceleration and relative soil density. Relative density of soil were made to be 40%, 80% and embedded length of pile on sand was increased by 10, 12, 14, 16 times of the diameter of pile, respectively. As a results of test series, allowable load of H-pile is from 6.4% to 18.2% larger than allowable load of pipe pile in relative density 80% and from 9.1% to 39.4% larger than allowable load of pipe pile in relative density 40%. As a results of numerical analysis, we were predicted behaviour of stress-displacement of pile with model test. In the case of relative density 80% and 40%, bearing capacity of H pile represent from 17.74% to 18.6% larger than allowable load of pipe pile.

Pressure-settlement behavior of square and rectangular skirted footings resting on sand

  • The present study deals with the Pressure-settlement behavior of square and rectangular skirted footing resting on sand and subjected to a vertical load through a laboratory experimental study. A series of load tests were conducted in the model test tank to evaluate the improvement in pressure-settlement behavior and bearing capacity of square and rectangular model footings with and without structural skirt. The footing of width 5 cm and 6 cm and length/width ratio of 1 and 2 was used. The relative density of sand was maintained at 30%, 50%, 70%, and 87% respectively. The depth of skirt was varied from 0.25 B to 1.0 B. All the tests were carried out using a strain controlled loading frame of 50 kN capacity. The strain rate for all test was kept 0.24 mm/min. The results of present study reveal that, the use of structural skirt improves the bearing capacity of footing significantly. The improvement in bearing capacity was observed almost linearly proportional to the depth of skirt. The improvement in bearing capacity of skirted footings over footing without skirt was observed in the range of 33.3% to 68.5%, 68.9% to 127% and 146.7% to 262% for a skirt depth of 0.25 B, 0.50 B and 1.0 B respectively. The skirted footings were found more effective for sand at relative density of 30% and 50% than at relative density of 70% and 87%. The bearing capacity was found to increase linearly with footing width for footings with and without skirts. This observation was found to be consistent for footings with different skirt depths and for relative density of sand i.e., 30%, 50%, 70%, and 87%. The obtained results from the study for footing with and without skirts were comparable with available solutions from literature.

탄화분변토를 이용한 Benzene의 흡착특성 (Adsorption Characteristics of Benzene by Carbonized Cast)

  • This study was carried out view that reuse of sludge of adsorbent for benzene in carbonized cast compare with activated carbon. Not only the carbonized cast is good than carbonized carbon in cation exchange capacity and 12 adsorption capacity, but also benzene adsorption capacity is no differences compare to activated carbon. As results, benzene adsorption capacity of carbonized cast and activated carbon are decreased as temperature increase($25~70^{\circ}C$).It is compatible in Lamgmuir model. Therefore, carbonized cast is applied general adsorbent. From experimental results and data regression, in model concerning effect of temperature, relative errors between the experimental data and those calculated by the model are within the range of 1.2~7.8%. In relative humidity effect (RH 0.25~0.50) of benzene adsorption, modified Freundlich model : $QB_{enzene}{;\}QB_{enzene},{\}_{RH=0}=1-kRH^{IN}$, relative errors between the experimental data and those calculated by the model are within are range of 0.5-5.1%. The constants k and l/n in equation were found to be 1.25, 1.89 in carbonized cast.

  • This experiment was conducted to elucidate the changes of dry matter production in permanent pasture and its relation with relative yield of the 1st cutting, regrowth capacity, and persistance of orchardgrass sward, based on the data of preceeding The results were summarized as follows; 1. Relationship between relative yield of the 1st cutting and regrowth capacity were changed by the times of established pasture. Thus, the relative yield of the 1st cutting have negative significant correlation (P < -0.001) with regrowth capacity. 2. Regrowth capacity(RC) was positively significant correlations with the dry weight of plant (DW/pl.), number of tillers per plant (NT/pl.), plant size(PS) and distance between adjacent plants (DIS) of the 1st cutting. Also, regrowth capacity(RC) was positively correlations with the dry weight of plant (DW/pl.), number of tillers per plant (NT/pl.), stubble diameter(DIA), stubble area(SB), plant size(PS) and distance between adjacent plants(D1S) of the 2nd cutting. 3. The coefficients of regression of the 1st cutting showed a tendency to slightly decrease, on the other hand, the 2nd cutting and total yield were tended to increase by the times of established pasture. 4, Between the regrowth capacity and persistency were may deeply concerned to the changes of dry matter production in permanent pasture. 5. The process of dry matter production in permanent pasture can be shown in following diagrams.

일부 사형의 체격 및 체력에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Physique and Bodily Strength of the Enlisted Men of Marine Corps in Korea)

  • The purpose of this project is offering fundamental and proper informations for the better health control and personnel management of the enlisted men of Marine corps in Korea. Survey has been done under 1,001 marine enlisted men for the purpose of understanding their condition of physique, vital capacity, and bodily strength. 1. Under the subject of physique, 7 items, body weight, chest-girth, relative body weight, relative chest-girth, Vervaeck index, and Roehrer index are listed, and under the subject of vital capacity, BTPS vital capacity and percent predicted vital capacity are listed, and under the subject of bodily strength, 7 items, grasping power, chinning-up, throwing a hanp-grenade, forward jumping, sitting-up, 100 meter sprinting, are listed. The total items are 16 and mean score of each one is as follow. 1)Physique : a. Height : $$168{\pm}0.15cm$$ b. Body weight : $$62.7{\pm}0.17kg$$ c. Chest-girth : $$91.4{\pm}0.16cm$$ d. Relative body weight : $$37.2{\pm}0.09$$ e. Relative chest-girth : $$54.3{\pm}0.10$$ f. Vervaeck index : $$91.6{\pm}0.15$$ g. Roehrer index : $$1.31{\pm}0.003$$ 2) Vital capacity : a. BTPS vital capacity : $$4470{\pm}20cc$$ b. % Predicted vital capacity : $$150{\pm}5.1%$$ 3) Bodily strength : a. Grasping power : $$41.4{\pm}0.26kg$$ b. Chinning-up : $$5.7{\pm}0.10$$ c. Throwing a hand-grenade : $$39.7{\pm}0.20m$$ d. Forward jumping : $$214{\pm}0.58cm$$ e. Sitting-up : $$19.1{\pm}0.25$$ f. Comparative analysis has been done about the conditional classes of marine enlisted men with the results of above mentioned 16 items. 7 classes according to the branches, 3 according to the ranks, 9 according to tile length of service are adopted respectively.

수직하중을 받는 모형 강널말뚝의 거동 (Behavior of Model Sheet Piles under Vertical Loads)

  • 모래지반에서 모형강널말뚝의 수직하중에 대한 거동을 알아보기 위하여 말뚝단면적이 동일하고 플랜지의 개구정도가 각기 다른 5개의 모형말뚝을 제작하였으며, 각 말뚝에 대해 상대밀도, 하중작용방향(압축, 인발)을 달리하여 토조내에서 실내 모형말뚝시험을 수행하였다. 동일한 말뚝에 대해 인발하중을 받는 경우보다 압축하중을 받는 경우가 극한지지력에 있어 100%가량 크며, 상대밀도가 조밀할수록 그 차이는 더욱 증가하였다. 인발재하시험에서 극한지지력과 극한상태의 침하량은 상대밀도가 증가함에 따라 증가하였으며, 동일한 지반조건하에서 개구정도의 변화에 따른 극한지지력과 침하량은 일정한 범위내에 존재하였다. 압축하중조건하에서 극한지지력은 개구정도가 30$^{\circ}$이내에 있을 경우 가장 크게 나타났으며, 상대밀도가 커질수록 이러한 경향이 뚜렷하게 나타났다. 단면의 변화에 따른 극한하중 변화는 하중분포의 해석결과 부분폐색효과에 기인된 것으로 생각된다.

모래지반에서 모형 지오셀에 의한 보강 효과 (Reinfocing Effects Using Model Geocell in Sand)

  • 지오셀 시스템의 사질토 지반에서의 보강효과를 규명하기 위하여 높이 대 폭비(H/W), 상대밀도, 재료의 강도, 복토의 두께를 다르게 하여 모형 재하시험을 수행하였다. 연구 결과 지오셀 시스템은 지오셀의 인장강도보다는 연결부의 강도가 작게 나타나 더 중요한 인자로 판단되었다. 모래의 상대밀도, 재료의 강도와 복토두께가 동일한 경우 모형 지오셀의 극한지지력은 높이 대 폭비(H/W)가 클수록 증가하는 경향을 나타내었으며 복토두께 변화에 따른 지지력비(BCR)는 낮은 상대밀도에서 더 크게 나타났다. 또한 모래의 상대밀도, 높이 대 폭비(H/W)와 복토두께가 동일한 경우 모형 지오셀의 재료의 인장강도가 커짐에 따라 극한지지력은 증가하였으며 인장강도의 영향은 조밀한 모래에서 더 두드러진 것으로 나타났다. 또한 복토층의 두께가 작을수록 지지력비는 큰 값을 나타내었다. 재료의 인장강도가 작은 특별한 경우에 Koerner공식의 적용은 주의가 필요할 것으로 사료된다.
