Dementia is an umbrella term that describes the loss of thinking, memory, attention, logical reasoning, and other mental abilities to the extent that it interferes with the activities of daily living. More than 50 million individuals worldwide live with dementia, which is expected to increase to 131 million by 2050. Recent research has shown that poor oral health increases the risk of dementia, while oral health declines with cognitive decline. In this narrative review, the literature was based on the "hypothesis" that dementia and oral health have a close relationship, and appropriate oral health and occlusal rehabilitation treatment can improve the quality of life of patients with dementia and prevent progression. We conducted a literature search in PubMed and Google Scholar databases, using the search terms "dementia," "major neurocognitive disorder," "dentition," "occlusion," "tooth loss," "dental prosthesis," "dental implant," and "occlusal rehabilitation" in the title field over the past 30 years. A total of 131 studies that scientifically addressed dementia, oral health, and/or oral rehabilitation were included. In a meta-analysis, the random effect model demonstrated significant tooth loss increasing the dementia risk 3.64-fold (pooled odds ratio=3.64, 95% confidence interval [2.50~5.32], P-value=0.0348). Tooth loss can be an important indicator of cognitive function decline. As the number of missing teeth increases, the risk of dementia increases. Loss of teeth can lead to a decrease in the ascending information to the brain and reduced masticatory ability, cerebral blood flow, and psychological atrophy. Oral microbiome dysbiosis and migration of key bacterial species to the brain can also cause dementia. Additionally, inflammation in the oral cavity affects the inflammatory response of the brain and the complete body. Conversely, proper oral hygiene management, the placement of dental implants or prostheses to replace lost teeth, and the restoration of masticatory function can inhibit symptom progression in patients with dementia. Therefore, improving oral health can prevent dementia progression and improve the quality of life of patients.

Accurate and timely estimation of crop yields is crucial for various purposes, including global food security planning and agricultural policy development. Remote sensing techniques, particularly using vegetation indices (VIs), have show n promise in monitoring and predicting crop conditions. However, traditional VIs such as the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) and enhanced vegetation index (EVI) have limitations in capturing rapid changes in vegetation photosynthesis and may not accurately represent crop productivity. An alternative vegetation index, the near-infrared reflectance of vegetation (NIRv), has been proposed as a better predictor of crop yield due to its strong correlation with gross primary productivity (GPP) and its ability to untangle confounding effects in canopies. In this study, we investigated the potential of NIRv in estimating crop yield, specifically for corn and soybean crops in major crop-producing regions in 14 states of the United States. Our results demonstrated a significant correlation between the peak value of NIRv and crop yield/area for both corn and soybean. The correlation w as slightly stronger for soybean than for corn. Moreover, most of the target states exhibited a notable relationship between NIRv peak and yield, with consistent slopes across different states. Furthermore, we observed a distinct pattern in the yearly data, where most values were closely clustered together. However, the year 2012 stood out as an outlier in several states, suggesting unique crop conditions during that period. Based on the established relationships between NIRv peak and yield, we predicted crop yield data for 2022 and evaluated the accuracy of the predictions using the Root Mean Square Percentage Error (RMSPE). Our findings indicate the potential of NIRv peak in estimating crop yield at the county level, with varying accuracy across different counties.

The fundamental electrochemical properties and adsorption capabilities of the carbonized product derived from coffee grounds, a prevalent form of lignocellulose abundantly generated in our daily lives, have been extensively investigated. The structure and morphology of the resultant carbonized product, obtained through a carbonization process conducted at a relatively low temperature of 600 ℃, were meticulously examined using a scanning electron microscope. Raman spectroscopy measurements yielded a relative crystallinity (D/G ratio) of the carbon product of 0.64. Electrical measurements revealed a linear ohmic relationship within the carbonized product. Furthermore, the viability of utilizing this carbonized material as an anode in lithium-ion batteries was evaluated through half-cell charge/discharge experiments, demonstrating an initial specific capacity of 520 mAh/g. Additionally, the adsorption performance of the carbon material towards a representative dye molecule was assessed via UV spectroscopy analyses. Supplementary experiments corroborated the material's ability to adsorb a distinct model molecule characterized by differing surface polarity, achieved through surface modification. This article presents pivotal findings that hold substantial implications for forthcoming research endeavors centered around the recycling of lignocellulose waste.

The start-up rate is increasing due to the government's start-up support policy, but it is true that the continuous survival rate and growth rate of companies are lower than that of the start-up rate. As part of increasing the survival and growth rate of startups, the importance of start-up mentoring has been highlighted, and companies selected for the Government's startup support project are increasingly having mentoring opportunities for corporate growth. In order to determine the relationship between start-up mentoring and entrepreneurial alertness as a way to generate management performance, this study examined how start-up mentoring affects entrepreneurial alertness and management performance. In addition, the government's support project was divided into companies with less than three years of start-up and companies with more than three years of experience, which are the criteria for early and leap companies, and analyzed whether each group has a moderating effect. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the mentoring problem-solving function had a significant effect on the ability to evaluate entrepreneurial alertness, and the motivation function of mentoring had a significant effect on all factors of entrepreneurial alertness. In addition, although mentoring functions did not have a moderating effect on entrepreneurial alertness depending on the work history between companies less than 3 years and companies for more than 3 years, there was a difference in factors affecting entrepreneurial alertness between groups with low and high work history. The implications of this study can contribute to the advancement of start-up mentoring programs by studying the impact of mentoring factors on entrepreneurial alertness when providing mentoring to start-up companies selected for the government's start-up support project.

The purpose of this study is to suggest an instructional direction for improving scientific inquiry problem-finding ability of the scientifically-gifted. For this purpose, this study has made an in-depth analysis of the scientific inquiry problems generated by the scientifically-gifted in Problem-Finding Activity in Ill-structured Inquiry Situation (PFAIIS) and Problem-Finding Activity in Well-structured Inquiry Situation (PFAWIS). The results of this study turned out to be as follows: First, most of the problems generated in PFAIIS and PFAWIS could be categorized into seven types (measurement, method, cause, possibility, what, comparison, relationship) according to the inquiry objectives, while the frequency of each type shown in each inquiry objective was a little different. Second, the frequency of scientific concepts stated in inquiry problem was more in PFAWIS than in PFAIIS. But the scientific concepts were shown more diversely in PFAIIS than in PFAWIS. Therefore, results of this study have the following educational implications. First, it is necessary to offer various opportunities of problem-finding activity under ill-structured scientific Inquiry situation. Second, it is needed to emphasize that a new inquiry problem can be found out even during general scientific experiment and frequently to discuss inquiry problems generated during an experiment. Third, it is needed to encourage the scientifically-gifted to generate a scientific inquiry problem based on at least more than seven types.
This study is a descriptive research study to determine the extent to which end-of-life care stress, death awareness, and prior decision-making attitudes of nurses at a hospice and palliative nursing institution have an impact on end-of-life care performance. The subjects of this study were 200 nurses working at a hospice and palliative nursing institution. Data collection for this study was conducted from August 9 to September 30, 2021, using two methods: written questionnaire and internet survey. The data analysis method used Pearson's correlation coefficient to analyze the relationship between the subjects' end-of-life care stress, death awareness, prior decision-making attitude, and end-of-life care performance. Hierarchical Regression was used to identify factors affecting the subject's end-of-life care performance. The results of this study showed a significant correlation between end-of-life care performance and death awareness (r=.22, p=.002), and end-of-life care performance and prior decision-making attitude (r=.20, p=.004). And prior decision-making attitude and death awareness had a significant impact on end-of-life care performance. As death awareness and prior decision-making attitudes increased, end-of-life care performance increased, and end-of-life care stress did not appear to be a statistically significant factor influencing end-of-life care performance. In order to improve hospice nurses' ability to provide end-of-life care, intervention that takes into account the influencing factors is required.
The elderly in rural areas are faced with the dilemma of poor community environment, weak social communication ability and insufficient pension knowledge reserve. In addition, due to the serious shortage of social security facilities in rural areas and medical resources, the elderly are struggling, and the suicide rate is far higher than that in urban areas. In order to make the elderly have a comfortable pension environment and face the increasingly serious aging problem with a positive attitude, this paper takes the community environment of the Baima Tibetan elderly in Tielou Township, Gansu Province as the research object of aging transformation. First of all, literature data were used to carry out research on the aging transformation in rural areas. On the basis of sorting out previous research topics, ERG theory was determined as the guide. Secondly, the research methods of on-site investigation, interview and other research methods are adopted to investigate the number of left-behind elderly people in this area, and classify them according to the national standards. At the same time, the image of the current situation of the community environment of the elderly. Finally, combined with the ERG theory, the transformation design of the elderly living environment is implemented, mainly from the three aspects of survival, mutual relationship and growth.

This research developed two semi-active MR dampers whose gaps in the orifice area were different from each other, and evaluated their damping performance by loading tests. The Damping performance of MR dampers characteristically depends on various factors like their material and mechanical ones, but most importantly on the size of gap in the orifice area. For this research, we designed the orifice gaps of two dampers as each 1.0mm and 2.0mm, both with the 80mm outer diameter of the orifice. We also designed two loading test sets with different input currents, and acquired different control ability from them. The acquired test results were analyzed and evaluated with their maximum and minimum damping force and also their dynamic range from the force-displacement hysteresis loops and the force-input current relationship curve. This research clearly proved how the damping performance of control devices depends on the gap effect, and also presented a possibility that the two dampers developed in this research could be used for the smart control of construction structures by effectively adapting the input current and the number of coil turns.

This study aims to explore educational methods to help students and citizens, who are exposed to numerous manufactured risks, better understand the nature of science and technology. It also seeks to develop their ability to identify, analyze, and evaluate the risks associated with science and technology, ultimately enabling them to live safer lives in society. To achieve this, through an extensive literature review, we explored the definition of risk, the necessity of risk education, and the relationship between SSI (Socioscientific Issues) education and risk education. Based on the results, we proposed the SSI-CURE (Socioscientific Issues Centered on the Understanding of Risk and its Evaluation) model, which can systematically educate about risks in the context of SSI. The SSI-CURE model proceeds through the following four steps: 1) Confrontation of SSI, 2) Understanding the Nature of Science and Technology with SSI, 3) Risk Assessment in SSI, and 4) Enactment of Countermeasures for SSI. These steps represent the key elements for education on risks in the context of SSI: Conceptual understanding of risks (risk knowledge), competencies necessary for discussing or addressing risk situations (risk competency), scientific content knowledge needed to understand risks (knowledge in science), and knowledge required to understand the causes of risks and their impacts (knowledge about science). We expect that the SSI-CURE model can be used not only as a guide for instruction but also as a representative framework for developing programs to educate about risks in the SSI context.

The film crews is a unique organization composed of members with expertise in each field and operated temporarily for a relatively short period of time. This study attempted to infer that the group characteristics and ability of the film crews to draw out the members' capabilities will affect the success or failure of the film, and to investigate their influence relationship. To this end, the research model was designed with diversity, cohesion, and information utilization as independent variables, and the artistry and box office performance of the film as dependent variables. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the diversity of the film crew affects both the artistry and box office performance, and the cohesion only affects the artistry. However, it was found that information utilization had no effect on film performance. It was confirmed that the diversity of the film crews was related to the film performance, and the cohesion had a limited effect. The results of this study provide implications that the design concept of the film crews based on diversity may be more important than process factors such as information utilization.
