  • This study investigated the effects of children's temperament and environmental factors on boys' and girls' noncompliance in ecological context. Observations were made of 62 children(34 boys and 28 girls, $\bar{x}$= 44 months) enrolled in child-care centers. Mothers and caregivers completed questionnaires. Data were analyzed by t-test, Pearson's Correlation, and three way ANOVA. Results showed no significant gender difference in noncompliance. There were correlations between children's activity level, maternal rejection and responsiveness, quantity of child-care and boys' noncompliance. For girls, only activity level and quantity of child-care were related to noncompliance. The effects of maternal child-rearing behavior and child-care variables on noncompliance varied by children's gender and temperament.

  • This paper presents the preliminary result of the automatic pronunciation scoring for non-native English speakers, and shows the developmental process for an English speech recognizer for the educational and evaluational purposes. The proposed speech recognizer, featuring two refined acoustic model sets, implements the noise-robust data compensation, phonetic alignment, highly reliable rejection, key-word and phrase detection, easy-to-use language modeling toolkit, etc., The developed speech recognizer achieves 0.725 as the average correlation between the human raters and the machine scores, based on the speech database YOUTH for training and K-SEC for test.

  • Many utterance verification (UV) algorithms have been studied to reject out-of-vocabulary (OOV) in speech recognition systems. Most of conventional confidence measures for UV algorithms are mainly based on log likelihood ratio test, but these measures take much time to evaluate the alternative hypothesis or anti-model likelihood. We propose a novel confidence measure which makes use of a momentary best scored state sequence during Viterbi search. Our approach is more efficient than conventional LRT-based algorithms because it does not need to build anti-model or to calculate the alternative hypothesis. The proposed confidence measure shows better performance in additive noise-corrupted speech as well as clean speech.

  • Once a contingency table is constructed, the first interest will be the hypotheses of either homogeneity or independence depending on the sampling scheme. The most widely used test statistic in practice is the classical Pearson's $\chi^2$ statistic. When the null hypothesis is rejected, another natural interest becomes which cell contributed to the rejection of the null hypothesis more than others. For this purpose, so called cell $\chi^2$ components are investigated. In this paper, the influence function of a cell to the $\chi^2$ statistic is derived, which can be used for the same purpose. This function measures the effect of each cell to the $\chi$$^2$ statistic. A numerical example is given to demonstrate the role of the new function.

  • The purpose of this study is the effect of massage therapy on the human autonomic nerve system by heart rate variability spectral analysis. This study were to effect autonomic nerve system before and after massage therapy in 12 health peoples. The effect of massage therapy were assessments through Heart Rate Variability (HRV; SA-2000E, Medicare, Korea) before and after the massage therapy by same massage therapist. Statistical techniques for data analysis were applied paired t-test. The 0.05 level of significance was used as the critical level for rejection of the null hypotheses for the study. On the basis of the results analyzed in this study, conclusions were drawn as follows; Rest Heart Rate was significantly decreased before and after massage therapy, but other variable were no statistical significances. These results suggest that massage therapy maybe be effective in reducing heart rate and activity in valgal tone.

  • Many countries, including Korea, suffer from a shortage of freshwater. With increases in population and the quality of life, along with large-scale expansion in industrial and agricultural activities, more freshwater is needed. Available resources, Including ground water, are limited, and desalination presents the opportunity for a new unlimited source of freshwater from the sea. The objectives of this study were to test membrane performance in seawater desalination and to examine the quality of water produced. bath well and sea water were used as water sources. Typically used membrane for seawater desalination and high rejection seawater desalination membrane are maintained at almost same recovery rate and permeate flux, while the conductivity was lower in the operation of typically used seawater membrane. The treated water quality using two types of membranes is satisfied with the Korea drinking water quality standards.

  • A K-band GaAs MMIC receiver module has been developed using 0.15 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ HEMT technology process. It incorporates two front end low noise amplifiers, a double balanced diode mixer, and filters. The RF input frequency ranges 20.1 to 21 GHz and the IF output 1.1 to 2 GHz. Test results show an overall conversion gain of more than 27 dB, and less than a 2.2 dB noise figure. The image-rejection ratio greater than 21 dB has been obtained. The isolation between RF and IF ports is better than 27 dB, and between LO and IF is more than 50 dB.

  • Statistical Process Control(SPC) which uses control charts is widely used to inspect and improve manufacturing process as a effective method. A parametric method is the most common in statistical process control. Shewhart chart was made under the assumption that measurements are independent and normal distribution. In practice, this assumption is often excluded, for example, in case of (equation omitted) chart, when the subgroup sample is small or correlation, it happens that measured data have bias or rejection of the normality test. A bootstrap method can be used in such a situation, which is calculated by resampling procedure without pre-distribution assumption. In this study, applying bootstrap percentile method to (equation omitted) chart, it is compared and evaluated standard process control limit with bootstrap percentile control limit. Also, under the normal and non-normal distributions, where parameter is 0.5, using computer simulation, it is compared standard parametric with bootstrap method which is used to decide process control limits in process quality.

  • This study designed, implemented, and evaluated a Biblio-Counseling program for elementary school children. Procedures included 20 60-minute sessions by counselor, 18 20-minute sessions in class by teacher, and 5 20-minute sessions at home by parents. The program was administered to 23 third grade elementary school children. Data were analyzed by frequency, mean, and paired t-test, using SPSS program packages. Results showed significant before and after differences in the degree of self-esteem. Besides, the children reported increased positive expression in class and decreased peer neglect and rejection at school. Children, parents and teacher expressed high satisfaction with the program. These results suggest that the multi-faceted approach as designed and implemented in this study is effective in promoting self-esteem, interpersonal growth, and relationship between child and parents.

  • This paper presents an Ground Segmentation algorithm to eliminate unnecessary Lidar Point Cloud Data (PCD) in an autonomous driving system. We consider Random Sample Consensus (Ransac) Algorithm to process lidar ground data. Ransac designates inlier and outlier to erase ground point cloud and classified PCD into two parts. Test results show removal of PCD from ground area by distinguishing inlier and outlier. The paper validates ground rejection algorithm in real time calculating the number of objects recognized by ground data compared to lidar raw data and ground segmented data based on the z-axis. Ground Segmentation is simulated by Robot Operating System (ROS) and an analysis of autonomous driving data is constructed by Matlab. The proposed algorithm can enhance performance of autonomous driving as misrecognizing circumstances are reduced.
