The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect according to the fiber type and combination on the reinforcement of heat-polymerized denture base resin. The heat-polymerized resin(Vertex RS, Dentimax, Netherlands) was used in this study. Glass fiber(GL; ER 270FW, Hankuk Fiber Glass, Korea), polyaromatic polyamide fiber(PA; aramid; Kevlar-49, Dupont, U.S.A.) and ultra high molecular weight polyethylene fiber(PE, polyethylene; P.E, Dong Yang Rope, Korea) were used to reinforce the denture base resin specimens. The final size of test specimen was $64mm{\times}10mm{\times}3.3mm$. The specimens of each group were stored in distilled water at $37^{\circ}C$ for 50 hours before measurement. The flexural strength and flexural modulus were measured by an universal testing machine(Z020, Zwick, Germany) at a crosshead speed of 5 mm/min in a three-point bending mode. In this study, all fibers showed reinforcing effects on denture base resin(p<0.05). In terms of flexural strength and flexural modulus, glass fiber 5.3 vol.% showed most effective reinforcing effect on heat polymerized denture base resin. For flexural modulus, PA/GL was the highest in denture base resin specimen for hybrid FRC using two combination (p<0.05). Glass fiber 5.3 vol.% and PA/GL are considered to be applied effectively in reinforcing the heat polymerized denture base resin.
In this study, side-face blowout failure strength of high strength headed reinforcing bar, which is vertically anchoring between RC or SFRC members, is evaluated throughout pullout test. The major test parameters are content ratio of high strength steel fibers, strength of rebar, length of anchorage, presence of shear reinforcement, and the side concrete cover thickness planned to be 1.3 times of the rebar. In pullout test, tensile force was applied to the headed reinforcing bar with the hinged supports positioned 1.5 and 0.7 times the anchorage length on both sides of the headed reinforcing bar. As a result, the cone-shaped crack occurred where the headed reinforcing bar embedded and finally side-face blowout failure caused by bearing pressure of the headed reinforcing bar. The tensile strength of specimens increased by 13.0 ~26.2% with shear reinforcement. The pullout strength of the specimens increased by 3.6 ~15.4% according to steel fiber reinforcement. Increasing the anchoring length and shear reinforcement were evaluated to reduce the stress bearing ration of the total stress.
Purpose: This study compared fracture strength and fracture modes between metal wire reinforcement and glass fiber reinforcement in repaired maxillary complete denture. Materials and methods: In this study, fracture was reproduced on center of maxillary complete dentures and the denture was repaired with auto-polymerizing resin. The experimental groups (n = 10) were subjected to the following condition: without reinforcing material (control group), reinforcing with metal wire (W group), reinforcing with glass fiber pre-impregnated with light-curing resin (SES MESH, INNO Dental Co., Yeoncheon, Korea, G group). The fracture strength and fracture modes of a maxillary complete denture were tested using Instron test machine (Instron Co., Canton, MA, USA) at a 5.0 mm/min crosshead speed. The flexure load was applied to center of denture with a 20 mm diameter ball attachment. When fracture occurred, the fracture mode was classified based on fracture lines. The Kruskal-wallis test and the Mann-whitney U test were performed to identify statistical differences at ${\alpha}=.05$. Results: W group showed the highest value of fracture strength, there was no significant difference (P>.05) between control group and G group. Control group and W group showed anteroposterior fracture mainly, group W showed adhesive fracture of denture base and reinforcing material. Conclusion: In limitation of this study, the glass fiber did not improve the fracture strength of repaired maxillary complete denture, and adhesive failure was occurred along the lines of glass fiber.

Fibers have been used to improve tile flexural performance of reinforced concrete. Therefore many different kinds of fibers have been developed and tested to reinforcing concrete. Basalt fiber is one of the recently developed materials for this purpose. Basalt fiber produced from this basalt raw material has high initial strength and durability. But, the main advantages of the basalt fiber are resistance to high operating temperatures and lower modulus and chemical resistance compared to fiberglass. Also basalt fiber may be consumed as a potential replacement for expensive carbon fibers.

This study evaluated the effects of fibers on the mechanical properties and chemical solution resistance of porous concrete with fiber type (jute, pulp, PVA and nylon fiber) and fiber volume fraction (0.0%, 0.1%, 0.2%, 0.3%). The tests that were carried out to analysis the properties of porous concrete included compressive strength, void ratio, pH value, and chemical solution exposure with varying type and volume fraction of fiber were conducted. The type and volume fraction of fiber also affected the void ratio, compressive strength, flexural strength and chemical solution exposure. Increased volume fractions of fiber resulted in improved properties of the compressive strength, flexural strength and void ratio. However, the difference between the measured pH value and chemical resistance of porous concrete with fiber type and volume fraction was not significant.
Manufacture of nancomposites has simple process for developing nanocomposites due to the increasing applications using nanofillers. This work studied nanofiller coated glass fiber for reinforcing material with good wetting and conductivity and the morphology of nanofiller coated glass fiber was analyzed by FE-SEM. The durability of reinforced glass fiber was investigated with different shapes of nanofillers using sonication rinsing method. Fatigue test was performed to evaluate the adhesion of reinforcing interface and stability of nanofiller coating layer for single fiber reinforced composites. Apparent modulus and conductivity of nanofiller coating layer were evaluated to realize multifunctional of nanocomposites. Fiber type of nanofiller was better than plate type due to better cohesion between fiber and nanofillers. At last, the stability of fiber type nanofiller of coating layer has better durability and conductivity than plate type case.
The grouting method is utilized to reinforce and waterproof poor grounds, enhance the bearing capacity of geo-structures damaged from differential settlement. The purpose of this research is to improve the compressive strength and degree of grout using reinforcing fibers and blast furnace slag powder. In this regard, this study has conducted uniaxial compression tests for the specimens with high ratios (higher than 50%) of blast furnace slag powder. The carbon fiber content was increased by 0, 0.5, and 1.0% to coMpare its compressive strength with that of aramid fiber. The uniaxial compressive strength increased with the increase of fiber content and the bridging activity by fiber in cement tended to increase uniaxial compressive strength. Based on the results, it was confirmed that the aramid fiber has a gel time of 14 seconds and the uniaxial compressive strength is more than 3 Mpa coMpared to carbon fiber.

This study was performed to use fiber mixed soil which has clayey soil or sandy soil with fibrillated fiber or monofilament fiber on purpose of construction materials, filling materials, and back filling materials. In addition, this study was conducted to analyze strength properties and fiber reinforcing effect with fiber mixed soil by direct-shear test. In case of fibrillated fiber mixed soil, the more quantity of fiber was in both cohesive soil and sandy soil, the larger shear stress was in respective step of normal load. The respective mixed soil at 0.5% and 0.1% mixing ratio of monofilament fiber mixed soil showed maximum shear stress. According to unconfined compression or direct-shear test, making specimen of the monofilament fiber mixed soil, it is required to be careful and stable mixing method, while it is expected that monofilament fiber mixed soil doesn't increase strength.
The Early-age construction loading and changing properties of concrete, especially in the multi-story structures can affect the slab deflection, significantly. Based on previously conducted experiment on eight simply-supported one-way slabs this paper investigates the effect of concrete type, fiber type and content, loading value, cracking moment, ultimate moment and applied moment on the instantaneous deflection of Self-Compacting Concrete (SCC) slabs. Two distinct loading levels equal to 30% and 40% of the ultimate capacity of the slab section were applied on the slabs at the age of 14 days. A wide range of the existing models of the effective moment of inertia which are mainly developed for conventional concrete elements, were investigated. Comparison of the experimental deflection values with predictions of the existing models shows considerable differences between the recorded and estimated instantaneous deflection of SCC slabs. Calculated elastic deflection of slabs at the ages of 14 and 28 days were also compared with the experimental deflection of slabs. Based on sensitivity analysis of the effective parameters, a new model is proposed and verified to predict the effective moment of inertia in SCC slabs with and without fiber reinforcing under two different loading levels at the age of 14 days.
Purpose: In this paper, based on this background, the main purpose of studying the behavior of concrete slab reinforced with new material fiber in impact loading is investigated by AFRP using aluminum fiber. Results: Research on the use of new materials as reinforcing materials for concrete members has been carried out in many fields such as flexural and shear tests under static loading, fatigue loading under cyclic loading, and application to PC beams. However, And the issue of plate elements is still at a basic stage. Conclusion: In this paper, the dynamic behavior of reinforced concrete slabs is investigated by using AFRP rod reinforced with aluminum fiber.
