  • This study was carried out to investigate the change of blood compositions by age in Hanwoo, and a total of 866 of Hanwoo, which consisted with 638 of steer and 228 of bulls, were used to measure serum concentrations. A multiple regression equation was estimated with collection age and blood composition as independent and dependent variables, respectively. Complicated regression equations for blood compositions in steer and bulls were IGF-I(cubic), calcium (linear), and IP(linear). Linear and cubic equations were fitted to testosterone in steer and creatinine in bulls, respectively. A cubic equation in steer and linear equation in bulls were fitted to HDLC. Equations of quadratic in steer and cubic in bulls were fitted to concentration of triglyceride, globulin, and A/G ratio. BUN was fitted by equations of cubic in steer and quadratic in bulls. TP and albumin were fitted by equations of quadratic in steer and linear in bulls. A cubic regression equation did not explain the change of cortisol by age in steer and bulls. A cubic regression equation did explain the change of glucose by age in steer, but not in bulls. Higher R-square values (R-SQUARE>0.1) were estimated to IGF-1, albumin, creatinine, Inorganic phosphorous(IP) and HDLC in steer, and testosterone, IGF-I, TP, albumin, glucose, creatinine, IP, and HDLC in bulls for the fitted regression equations of blood compositions. Therefore, IGF-I, albumin, creatinine, IP, and HDLC were regarded as comparatively large variation by age in steer and bulls.

  • Traffic accidents at signalized intersections have been increased annually so that it is required to examine the causation to reduce the accidents. However, the current existing accident models were developed mainly by using non-linear regression models such as Poisson methods. These non-linear regression methods lack to reveal the complicated causation for traffic accidents, though they are the right choice to study randomness and non-linearity of accidents. Therefore, it is required to utilize another statistical method to make up for the lack of the non-linear regression methods. This study developed accident prediction models for 4 legged signalized intersections with Poisson methods and compared them with structural equation models. This study used structural equation methods to reveal the complicated causation of traffic accidents, because the structural equation method has merits to explain more causational factors for accidents than others.

  • To correct the difference of filling volumn for various cut tobacco and puffed stem according to moisture contents, correction equation was estamated by a simple regression analysis. The $R^2$(coefficient of determination) of correction equation was above 0.95. To verify the precision of correction equation, we predicted correction equation of other samples. The filling volumns by the difference of $1\%$ moisture content were $0.018\;~\;0.022cc/g$ (cut tobacco) and 0.060cc/g (puffed stem). The precision of correction equation for various cut tobacco was very high, but that of puffed stem was low due to quality deviation of row stem according to a season.

  • Background: Due to the emergence of new diseases such as COVID-19, an increasing number of people are struggling with stress and depression. Interest is growing in forest-based recreation for physical and mental relief. Objectives: A prediction model equation using meteorological factors and data was developed to predict the quantities of medicinal substances generated in forests (monoterpenes) in real-time. Methods: The concentration of phytoncide and meteorological factors in the forests near Chuncheon in South Korea were measured for nearly two years. Meteorological factors affecting the observation data were acquired through a multiple regression analysis. A model equation was developed by applying a linear regression equation with the main factors. Results: The linear regression analysis revealed a high explanatory power for the coefficients of determination of temperature and humidity in the coniferous forest (R2=0.7028 and R2=0.5859). With a temperature increase of 1℃, the phytoncide concentration increased by 31.7 ng/Sm3. A humidity increase of 1% led to an increase in the coniferous forest by 21.9 ng/Sm3. In the deciduous forest, the coefficients of determination of temperature and humidity had approximately 60% explanatory power (R2=0.6611 and R2=0.5893). A temperature increase of 1℃ led to an increase of approximately 9.6 ng/Sm3, and 1% humidity resulted in a change of approximately 6.9 ng/Sm3. A prediction model equation was suggested based on such meteorological factors and related equations that showed a 30% error with statistical verification. Conclusions: Follow-up research is required to reduce the prediction error. In addition, phytoncide data for each region can be acquired by applying actual regional phytoncide data and the prediction technique proposed in this study.

  • In order to obtain the objective indices which can assess the quality and the shelf-life of dried squid, nonenzymatic browning, carbonyl value, trimethyl amine (TMA) and trimethyl amine oxide (TMAO) decrease and panel test were determined in dried squid at various water activity levels. When the data of nonenzymatic browning fit a zero order equation, $r^2$ value were more than 0.92 except aw 0.52 for 0.8241. Through variance analysis for the data of browning extent and TMAO decrease, the confidence limits of regression equation were $99\%$ and their limit values of shelf-life were shown 0.45390 O. D./g. solid and 190.322 g/g respectively. In case of TMAO, $r^2$ value was calculated more than 0.95. Linear regression equation for the correlation between browning data and average panel score was Y=0.6138-0.053X and its $r^2$ value was 0.9285. Also in TMAO decrease, the equation was InY=2.0314+0.08269x and $r^2$ value was 0.7854. The shelf-life, evaluated by nonenzymatic browning, TMAO decrease and panel test, was 110-170 days at aw 0.45-0.76 except aw 0.15.

  • The values of physical properties of the inert gases of Ar, $N_2$, $CO_2$ were calculated by the empirical equations. The regression coefficients were obtained by the experimental data and the resulting calculated values. For the empirical equation with a lower regression coefficient, a new correlation was suggested. At an atmosphere pressure, the empirical equation was confirmed by the experimental values for the viscosity, density, saturated pressure, and surface tension of Ar, $N_2$, $CO_2$. The correlation coefficients of the empirical equations proposed in this work was higher than 0.99.

  • Purpose: This study assessed the accuracy of age estimates produced by a regression equation derived from lower third molar development in a Thai population. Materials and Methods: The first part of this study relied on measurements taken from panoramic radiographs of 614 Thai patients aged from 9 to 20. The stage of lower left and right third molar development was observed in each radiograph and a modified Gat score was assigned. Linear regression on this data produced the following equation: Y=9.309+1.673 mG+0.303S (Y=age; mG=modified Gat score; S=sex). In the second part of this study, the predictive accuracy of this equation was evaluated using data from a second set of panoramic radiographs (539 Thai subjects, 9 to 24 years old). Each subject's age was estimated using the above equation and compared against age calculated from a provided date of birth. Estimated and known age data were analyzed using the Pearson correlation coefficient and descriptive statistics. Results: Ages estimated from lower left and lower right third molar development stage were significantly correlated with the known ages (r=0.818, 0.808, respectively, $P{\leq}0.01$). 50% of age estimates in the second part of the study fell within a range of error of ${\pm}1year$, while 75% fell within a range of error of ${\pm}2years$. The study found that the equation tends to estimate age accurately when individuals are 9 to 20 years of age. Conclusion: The equation can be used for age estimation for Thai populations when the individuals are 9 to 20 years of age.

  • The friction test using disk-on-pad type was carried out and regression analysis with friction parameters was applied fur wear loss presumption of motorcycle break disk. The wear loss has an effect on the frictional factor such as applied load, sliding speed, and number of ventilated disk hole. However, it is difficult to know the mutual relation of these factors on wear loss of motorcycle break disk. From this study, the result was shown that the regression analysis equation containing 4 elements were constructed and this equation had a trust of 95% in wear loss presumption of motorcycle break disk. It is possible to apply for another automobile parts.
