Use of the estimated critical values adapting a regression equation for the approximate entropy test

  • The statistical testing methods have been widely recognized to determine the plain and cipher texts. In fact, the randomness for a sequence from an encryption algorithm is necessary to guarantee security and reliance of cipher algorithm. Thus, the statistical randomness tests are used to discover cipher text. In this paper, we would provide the critical value for an approximate entropy test by estimating the nonlinear regression equation when the number of sequence and the level of significance are given. Thus, we can discern plan and cipher text for real problem with given number of sequence and the level of significance. Also, we confirm the fitness of the estimated critical values from the rate of success for plain or cipher text.

  • Recently, there has been enormous damage due to river floodings caused by localized heavy rains. The direct discharge triggered by those torrential rains inflicts severe property damage on the residents of nearby areas. To minimize the possibility of river floodings in case of heavy rains and to predict the possible damage, the management of existing rainfall and water level observatories should be checked and prediction methods based on the characteristics of water usage and floodgate of nearby rivers must be further analyzed. Therefore, this research analyzed the water level change predictions on different spots with a regression equation of rainfall and water levels, using the observation data of the water level observatory in Jeongseon-gun, Gangwon Province and the rainfall observatory which are located on the upper region of the Han river.

  • Generally, the accuracy of the prediction of flood elevation is difficult to identify due to the sedimentation on a river bed, earth and sand being moved by flow, and localized torrential downpours caused by climate change. It is also because of natural and artificial influences on rivers. To predict river floodings successfully, more precise and reliable flood elevation prediction system is needed, in which the concentration time of downstream is numerically interpreted through analyzing and utilizing the watermark of the upper region. Therefore, this research analyzed the prediction methods of the changes in water levels, which use the watermarks of the upper region. The watermarks which impacts the spot being predicted of flood was selected through floodgate analysis and correlation analysis. With the selected watermarks, a statistically reliable regression equation was yielded.

  • The measurements of nutrient and runoff in 4 streams have been performed before and after the rainfall in order to estimate nutrient loads in the Yongdam reservoir. The equations for the relationship between the flow and the loads in each stream could be estimated by the regression analysis. R2 of TN showed the range from 0.95 to 0.99 and the range of R2 for TP was 0.90~0.95 based on the results of the regression analyses. In 2002, total loadings from the upstream to the Yongdam reservoir were TN 1,175 ton/year, TP 69 ton/year. There were 64.9% of TN and 72.3% of TP during 4 months as the flood season. Due to the rainfall, the load of TP was higher than one of TN in Yongdam reservoir.

  • The thermal stress have an effect on the frictional factor such as applied load, sliding speed, sliding distance and number of ventilated disk hole. However, it is difficult to know the mutual relation of these factors on thermal stress of motorcycle break disk. For this, temperature of motorcycle break disk is measured using a disk-on-pad type friction tester with full factorial design containing above 4 elements. and the thermal stress analysis of it was carried out using with ANSYS workbench. From this study, the result was shown that the regression equation which have a trust rate of 95% for thermal stress presumption of motorcycle break disk with frictional factor was composed. It is possible to apply for another automobile parts.

  • Sixty-two medical records of patients with coal workers' pneumoconiosis who died in hospital as coal workers' pneumoconiosis were analysed for study of the relationship between forced expiratory volume in one second ($FEV_1$) and life expectancy in coal workers'pneumoconiosis. In the group who died of asphyxia from hemoptysis, life expectancy were well fitted with $FEV_1$(p<0.05). But others were not well fitted to simple linear regression equation. The prevalence of ECG sign of col pulmonale was more in the group of cardiorespiratory failure than asphyxia group. So, in the case of far advanced cor pulmonale, it was difficult to predict life expectancy by simple linear regression equation

  • The natural period calculation equations specified in the current building code are empirical formulas that depend on height and material type of the structure. Building with the upper wall and lower frame type is a unique structure which composed of two different structural system This type of structure needs either the deep transfer girder or the thick transfer plate that brings the sudden change of stiffness and mass. Therefore the natural period equations recommended by the current code can not be applied directly. In this study the natural period of building with typical plan obtained by dynamci analysis is compared with that of various codes. Ad approximate estimation equation for the natural period of building with the upper wall and lower frame type obtained by regression analysis is recommended. by the current code can not be applied directly.   • In the plastic extrusion process, product quality is influenced by work condition for temperature of cylinders and dies. The work conditions are various, so it is difficult to standardization of the work conditions. Therefore, the work conditions are depended on the workers of experience and skill. In the plastic extrusion process, it has five control heating points on the cylinder and three control heating points on the die. In addition, there is one control point on the extrusion process. It is extrusion speed. In this case, we don't know how these affect product quality. We structure the multiple linear regression equation with the temperature of cylinders and dies as independent variables and the product weight as dependent variable. We solve this equation using statistic computer package named Juse-Qcas.

  • The objectives of the present paper were to investigate the concentration of total coliform in wastewater effluents and the effect of water chemical and physical characters in it. The most correlated parameter with total coliform was COD. It means that the wastewater treatment efficient effects on total coliform concentration. And we developed predictive model for the total coliform concentration. The estimated parameters for model were COD, temperature, nitrite, chloride, Mn and regression model equation was determined; log (Total Coli.) = 1.861+0.065[COD]+0.038[temperature]-0.0004[$Cl^-$]+3.697[Mn]-0.32 [$NO_2-N$] The developed model provided very strong correlation ($R^2:0.82$) between total coliform and regression equation. The parameters having high sensitivity were COD and temperature. So the study indicated that if the temperature and COD of wastewater effluent were known, we would estimate the concentration of total coliform and decide the most effective usage of chlorine.

  • To develop the prediction program for quality change of Citrus unshiu during marketing, we examined the quality characteristics of Citrus unshiu stored at experimental refrigerator set to 4, 8, 12 and 16$^{\circ}C$ for 2 months. According to the storage temperature the changes of quality characteristics were different respectively, but it was most severe during 16$^{\circ}C$ storage. Activation energy and Q10 value were 6683.16 cal/mol K and 1.53 respectively. The determination coefficient of regression equation of pH, acidity and vitamin C by surface response analysis were over 0.85. Using these regression equation, we developed the prediction program for the change of pH, acidity and vitamin C contents. The calculated values and experimental values of pH, acidity and vitamin C contents for short-term storage of Citrus unshiu were coincided well.
